Gso-4.7

They have been shipping out... in low numbers. Every so often Guy slips a GSO-4.7 into the line when he is getting tired of doing the same thing over and over. Once he gets back and the last of those 3V GSO-5.1s gets out there should be some larger numbers of GSO-4.7s shipping out.

Sweet!

Hey, hope things with the family are ok (considering Guy's family emergency). I'd also like to say that Guy's talent at sharpening is stellar!! My 20CV 5.1 is the best sharpened knife that I have EVER received, and the first one that my first thought was NOT, "Man, I can't wait until I dull this edge so I have the excuse to put a good edge on it." He is really GOOD!

It really is a brute of a knife. I'd like to see a 4.7 get used by a SERE instructor to get there thoughts on the knife. It seems to fulfill a lot of the requirements even though it may not be intended as a tactical knife.

FWIW...I gave an old gen 5 to a friend who was a survival instructor and special ops while he was in the military. He LOVES it and can't get over how great of a knife it is. Now he wants to order a 10 or a 12. He says it checks a lot of boxes and is looking forward to taking it out into the field this spring. We have another covert!

Keep up the good work ;)

That is very cool to hear about someone who really knows about knives loving the 5 so much.

I can't remember if it was facebook or instagram, but I specifically remember Guy saying the 4.7 was his take on a SERE knife
Yep, it is. He wanted it to be a do anything tool so when someone finds themselves in a bad situation they have the advantage. <--See what I did there?

Edit to add: We do have a few friends in that arena who are looking forward to trying the GSO-4.7 out.

He is often asking me if he can get a few belts to test out or telling me about something he's learned after a machine goes down. Shortly after that he comes to me with a knife to show me how sharp it is. (This has been going on for a long time and it hasn't been until recently that I can actually tell a difference between sharp and Guy sharp.) He is always looking for a better way. We made friends with a French gentleman who told us they have a saying that roughly translates to, "Perfect is the enemy of good." I think Guy missed the point, hahah.

silly french! they forgot the rest of it: "perfect is the enemy of good, but the friend of greatness" just kidding, I run into this all the time at work where 95% will do 100% of the job, and I have a hard time letting the extra 5% go. and it's always that last 5% that takes the most time.

I'm really wanting to get my hands on the new SK series. Just to throw in my pack, at the same time I would prefer to have a 20cv just for a do anything anywhere. I was torn so I figured I'd wait. :(

Good one ;)

I need to own the advantage!!!!!

I've only ever heard the first part of the quote, but I really like the entire thing. I need to start saying that to people, they'll think I'm such a perfectionist.

I maaaaaaaaaaaaaay have added the last bit...

That's really cool that he's impressed with these knives!

That'll be great to get their thoughts on the 4.7! It's nice to know that these knives have the ability to do way more than a civilian like me can put it through.

It's easy to see why he's so impressed. The only thing he wasn't sure about was if he could use it as a crowbar and not damage it. I told him that GSO 5 is a tank of a knife that stays sharp forever and it doesn't need to 1/4" thick, and the added weight I might add, to be strong enough to be a crow bar. Then I showed him the video of Guy smashing an old truck windshield and trying to bend and break his 6. My buddy just laughed and was convinced.

Well, in one of the schools I've been to, they drilled into us to not let the best get in the way of good enough. That works, in the line of work and the situations they were talking about. But, when it comes to blades, I have to disagree with them, and agree with Guy.

the perfect is the enemy of the good is a great album from burnt by the sun, probably not most of y'all cup of tea

^^^ I haven't heard of them, may have to look them up now :)

"Perfect is the enemy of good, but the forbidden lover of awesome"
