Gso-6 ?

I sold my GSO 5.1 to fund the GSO 6.
For me a choil in a knife that size is not necessary. In a 7+ inch blade it starts making more sense.

After handling my GSO 5.1 I think you may be right, the knife is lighter and more nimble then I expected and seems the choil is not really necessary. I debated selling it but my preorder GSO 6 is so far off I guess I'll just use it until then, then decide whether to keep it or sell it.

I totally understand that... in fact I ordered a GSO 4.7 to bridge the gap

i was looking over the specs of the two again today, forgot that the 6 is actually a little longer overall than the 5.1... i will be watching the closed for order date like a hawk now...

It's all in the fine details
I beleive that the 6 will be extremely well balanced and versatile

The 6 really did not interest me much at first, but Tinbanger and his FF camp knife really got me thinking how versatile this size of a knife can be. Plus for how wildly popular the 5.1 is, the 6 is like a 5.1 but without the choil!

The 6 is very similar to the 5.1 in dimension but the slight differences can make a big difference in the end.
We still have to wait a while for the 6 unfortunately

Can't speak to new spec but the old 6 is very handy...It's probably my favorite one so far.

For its size the 10 does really well at finer tasks too.

I don't doubt you're right. Can't wait to find out for myself!

Bobby, yeah yeah yeah, we all know you love your 6 :D
Love the pics!

Lol I sure do...I deff don't feel like I need a choil on it to do finer tasks.

I'm deff curious about new spec handles thou on the upcoming 6, and seeing a comparison pic of old/new spec 4.1's I want one of those..and a 4.5, &10&12....I need to win the lottery lol

As a fellow bk9 lover, I totally get you as far as not needing a choil. When I get my 10 I may totally change my mind, but other than the thumb ramp, I've enjoyed the bk9 for carving despite the size.

You should do what I'm doing and try to sell a kidney on the black market

The choil on the 10 deff has me thinking about adding one to my 9.. Also ends deramp it. Thou it currently does work great for finer tasks.

And I'm pretty sure my kidneys are of no value from my teenage years lol.

I think I am getting why folks don't go for a choil. I was admiring my new 5.1 this morning and went to choke up on it when I got maybe 1/32" too much and now have a nice nick just in front of the first joint of my index finger. Knife is so dang sharp (like it should be) and it let me know it.

I'm leaning toward 4.7 instead of a 6 though. The 5.1 is plenty big enough for me, so the 4.7 is probably the direction I'll go...

I think the 4.7 will serve you well
The old 5 was a bit thick with a blade a bit too wide. The 4.7 will fix that very well

A choil on the 9? Blasphemy! (Don't tell Cold One I said that............)
The 10 must be something special to get you to want that. Cool! I'm wondering if I'll finally see the light once I get my 10 and jump on the choil loving wagon.

As far as your kidneys, ha!

Don't even get me started on the 4.7 :D
You may have seen how I've mentioned once or twice the 4.7 probably being my grail of grails. BUT I'm really anxious to try the 4.1 next to the 4.7 and next to the 6 as these three (at least to me) represent what I consider the spectrum of midsized.

:)

Don't bother me none, I'm just a wild and crazy guy.

5-7" choiless, 8-10" I like a choil but that's just me. Under 5" tends to be a folder.

Considering the 5.1 (with choil) is the most popular GSO I guess if you agreed with me on not wanting a choil then we'd BOTH be wrong :D

Does anyone know how much longer the preorders will open for on the 6?

My best guess is that you have at least another month, probably longer, before the 6 ordering closes.
The trend has been to space the closing of the models by a couple of months and the 12 is still open for orders.

Thanks Fancier, once I free up funds I'll order a Gso 6. Honestly, I love the preorder thing. I wonder...how fast are the knives selling out on Mondays?
