Gso-6 ?

Running it to the last minute ... I'd planned on ordering a 6 but I think I'm going to go for a 4.7 second instead. Gah, decisions! Not going to wait around on the 8 and 10, getting them on order ASAP.

Just a heads up for those who are kicking yourselves for missing the preorder deadline for the GSO 6 or having that "I should have bought 2" sensation. Looks like ordering on the website hasn't been shut down just yet. So this looks like your last, last chance.

The GSO 6 is still open for preorder even past the 5/13/2016 deadline, if anyone else is currently interested!

Finally was taken off the "available for preorder only" list at some point today: 5/17. I was getting worried about this one perhaps becoming the redheaded step-child of the Survive! GSO Series :D

I don't think there's a chance of that happening. I think it is anticipated nearly as much as the 5.1

That is cvery omforting to know Tricky! I really don't want to preorder a model which struggles to reach the desired production numbers as that may prolong the waiting period. As it is, I am not keeping my hopes high to see my preorder GSO 6 before early 2017!

That would be AWESOME! I just wrote in another thread saying I'd love to be surprised (or to be proven wrong), but the 5.1's took about 6 months from first shipping to moving on to the next model. There's quite a few models between the 4.7 and 6 so you could guess at when we might see the 6 if each model before it takes 6 or even 5 or 3 months to get out.

6 months per model would put the GSO-6 about 3 years out, I sure hope not.

I'd say 12 months should be max for waiting time.

That's the same conclusion I came to using recent history and a little mental math, BUT I'm sure the team will be more efficient the more they're working with all of their new processes and the later models may have lower order numbers helping them to move along faster.

I have zero issues with a long wait I just like knowing what I'm in for. SURVIVE! is already addressing one of their biggest complaints by not offering projections of when various models will be ready. It has been discussed to death several times over, but I'd rather know that I have to wait a year or more than thinking "next month I'll get my knife for sure" every single month for a year.

I'll be watching as different models finish up and start shipping, if they aren't about half way or so to the GSO-6 in 6-8 months I'll have to re-evalute and make a decision on the 2 GSO-6s that I have on pre-order.

I put in an order for a second GSO 6 on Friday, the day they were schedule to close (13th) and a GSO 10 yesterday, the following Tuesday (17th). The orders are 20 numbers apart. Compare that to the 48 hour period the 5.1 was open for preorder which saw orders in the hundreds. Makes me think models like the 5.1 represent much larger orders than some of the other models, the 6 being highly anticipated in my understanding so using the timeline set by the 5.1 for all models is probably not accurate. In fact it may be the case that several models will go out quicker than just the 5.1 did. We will probably see production runs by popularity after all models are complete.

This is a great observation and since starter models were more or less set in production order by popularity and demand, I do expect the farther we get the faster they'll come out.

Monday sales will also probably get a little more competitive as well since there will be very little left to preorder so people won't be able to just preorder and forget about it.

The 6 is the model I am most excited for. I am hoping the comments about Survive! getting faster as they cycle through the models are true. I imagine they will get more efficient. Plus, as they advance through their lineup the order quantities will go down since they are going in order of demand. It might be a little disheartening to use the 5.1 as a gauge on how long it could take. They were learning new equipment, there was some rework on blades, and wasn't there something with the handles? I can't remember. So hopefully things will speed up. For what it's worth.

Does anyone remember when the 4.7 crossed over into production? It would be interesting to see how long it takes once we start seeing it in the hands of the Faithful. We'd have two runs and could average to get a potentially better idea.

According to the 1st Friday updates the 4.7 was closed for ordering in June of 2015.
It was first seen in the wild in February of 2016.

Great information, Fancier! Sometimes I feel like some of us are like Gandalf in the scene from Fellowship of the Ring where he left Frodo and is rummaging through old books and papers researching the ring :D

Anyways, this is good to know in addition to how long it is from the first order to get to a customer to the real rush of orders going out to all the preorder customers being satisfied to the production run ending. Never a shortage of things happening in the shop I'm sure. I wonder if those of us here with preorders will see them this month?

Now Silver, why am I not surprised that you used a LotR analogy? :D

Seriously though, I'm already mentally prepared for a 6-9 months wait. Anything in between Thanksgiving and
Christmas would be super exciting. Quite honestly though, if with the streamlined operation via newer machines
and much more procedural experience; if we are still sitting in here next year about this time and talking about
when orders placed circa Apr & May 2016 would be fulfilled, then I will personally decide to only seek GSO models
only through the Monday Sales or the Secondary market (but I rather invest the $$$ with Survive! if they can bring things up to a
more reasonable speed
)

Right now, I am still committed to preordering both a GSO 4.5 & a GSO 10 in addition to the already preordered GSO 6
irrespective of the above sentiment.

I always leave them up for an extra day or two. This one stayed up quite a bit longer because this week has been ridiculously busy for me (If any of you have sent emails, I'm very sorry).
