Heavenly horn, José!![]()
Thanks for the info, José; that oak trunk complements the wavy grain in your ironwood perfectly!![]()
Thanks, José.I agree with your opinion, and here's a pair of comparison pics of my Cracker Jack. I like the stag on both sides of it, but I definitely prefer the pile side:

And another Fantastic photo, Preston!
Good morning, friends!
I apologize, I just don't feel well enough to go back and comment on all of the FANTASTIC photos and comments, so I'll just start from this morning.

Impressive David![]()

Good to hearI was boozing yesterday myself
Thank you my friend, but sadly Green's closed a few months back
There impending closure was what prompted me to buy a new razor (though my old one came from them too), and to take that photo. Apparently they still have an online presence

The hawks, owls, and other predators have severely limited the rodent and snake population around my house.
Thanks David. I have finally just moved my feeders a minimum of 15 feet from any other objects they could jump from. They are 7 ft off the ground and the posts have squirrel proof slick pvc pipe covering them.
Have a great Sunday all.View attachment 1127047
I always enjoy seeing that instantly-recognizable horn lambsfoot, David!

Good Morning Guardians. I’ve kept up with reading the posts and giving likes, but with the breakneck pace, I took a little break. I actually started reading a book again. As of late, I’ve taken a deep dive into English History. My goodness. How fascinating.
Thank you all for letting me be a part of this group.
Here’s the book I’ve started with

Owls are my favorite bird too. We have the kind with big blinky eyes that light up when you shine a flashlight on them, and the kind that talk to eac hother all night long. Other than that, I don't know because they only come out at night.Owls are far and away my favorite animal/bird! What kind do you have?
Thank you, Mark. What a great pic, John! A different perspective of your grain and just stunning!![]()
Thank you, Jose.Beautiful photo John, the wood of this "19" is superb!!!![]()
That's a cool picture.![]()
Happy weekend, my fellow guardians.
Nice picture, Darren. It's like attack of the giant Lambsfoot.
Beautiful and appropriate picture, OG.
That's very kind of you to say, David. ThanksSurely picture of the week.![]()
The Smothers Brothers are hilarious! They had a variety show or two, but also had a series where Tom played an angel (My Brother the Angel). Hadn't seen it in decades.
Jack Black - Thank you kindly, Jack. I do love the older ones. The book is as fabulous as your Country’s history is. Your Damascus Lambsfoot is always a pleasure to see.
Thanks, Jack!
Beautiful shots of your Stag Damlamb, my friend!

Happy weekend, my fellow guardians.
Your little ghost it is very handsome today Jack!!![]()
Although I just don't have the time to keep up with everything in this thread...I do enjoy my attempts to look back through the pages I've missed and enjoy your wonderful photos (and dialogue!). When life gets difficult, it can sometimes help to take your mind off of things and this is a great place to do that
I am still intrigued by this historical atlas and find something interesting every time I open it

As is that shot Jack; some fine stag there.
That was Pendle Hill, Lancashire from Clitheroe Castle. Famous (or infamous) for the witch trials of 1612.
Really? So Greens has gone to.Is nothing safe.
I'm not a smoker and I've only dabbled in fine shaving but it was one of those shops you thought would be there for ever; especially given how busy it always seemed to be.
So if you've not been to Malton recently then I'll be the bearer of bad tidings. G. Woodall's in April.

Apparently he also still has an online presence.
Of course. The snakes. How could I possibly of forgotten the snakes...
Surely picture of the week.
Ahhh pvc piping. Of course! Thanks Dwight.I'm thinking of building a bird table this summer and I'm determined to stop them little Yankee squigges nicking all the feed
And that's a fantastic photo toThe contrast of the blade with the green is great to see.
Thanks GT, unfortunately it's certainly aged since that photo was taken.I'm glad you keep reminding us of the names of your herd 'cos with the best will in the world I still can't name them all by sight
That's fantastic; I love the blade stampingsI wish we could see them more often on modern knives.
Harvey, if your getting into English history at some point get round to reading the:
Ecclesiastical History of the English People. Written by Bede in AD731 it's a wealth of information.
Also, The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, which was started by Alfred in the 9th century and added to over the following four or five centuries.
Thank you David. I will add your two suggested readings to my list.As is that shot Jack; some fine stag there.

Yes, a real shame about Green's, a few Porch members have had small gifts from there over the years. Sheffield used to have a great tobacconist opposite the Town Hall, but it closed decades ago I'm afraid. Very few shops like that leftThat's a shock about Woodall's, I'm staggered in fact

Welcome aboard and congrats on scoring a fine example of the Guardian's '19 Lambsfoot. Not so long ago, I had never heard anything about the Lambsfoot pattern. And then, I had the opportunity to buy a second hand Lambsfoot with ironwood handle and Jack told me that it is a recent one, part of the 2019 Guardians of The Lambsfoot batch. Ironwood scale are really beautiful and knife is very agreable in hand. Don't know if that makes me a Guardian of The Lambsfoot but I'm sure that it makes me a Lambsfoot fan.

Thanks for the compliment Jack! Thanks again for the brief refresher on the history of the Lambsfoot! By the way Jack, I find it very distasteful that someone would post a picture of a modern knife in this thread knowing full well that the word LAMBSFOOT appears absolutely no where in the manufacturers description!Looking good Ron
It has been discussed before, and at great length. If you check my first post, you'll find a link to the thread index, which should help you find the discussionThe forthcoming Lambsfoot being produced by GEC for Charlie @waynorth will be the first true US-produced Lambsfoot I believe. Discussions here have generally concluded that the main reason the pattern didn't cross the pond with other patterns, is that the Lambsfoot did not emerge until the latter part of the 19th century, at a time when US import tariffs were encouraging Sheffield cutlery manufacturers to seek alternative markets (in Australia for example, where the Lambsfoot is a popular pattern). With hunting and fishing being such popular pursuits in the US compared to the UK (here, fishing tends to be catch and release, while hunting is generally the preserve of the wealthy), American cutlery producers had little incentive to introduce a new single-blade straight-edge pattern, when many of their customers probably preferred to have a primary blade with some belly

Don't mind seeing Cracker Jack again and again, Gary, It's a wonderful knife.Great to see the pile side of your stag lambsfoot, Rachel.
Love the rich brown bark on your stag, Ron!
Mark, that pic reminds me of some kind of exotic moth!!I didn't even realize you have TWO magnificent ironwoods (or have I fallen victim to a reflection composition trick you're pulling on us?
).
Thanks for the encouraging words, Preston.
Dave & Preston, thanks for the fantastic rosewood shots!I still think my rosewood lambsfoot is my favorite, although my ebony and stag are right up there.
Cool pic of your topographic ironwood, Vince!Congrats on your Astros' season so far!
Kind of a slow start, but they're living up to expectations now. (Same description fits the Cubs, for whom I root. My other team, the Tigers, is far exceeding my expectations so far by just staying near .500.
)
Thanks for the Dr. Who retrospective, Jer!Great pic of Old Toffee Wings!
The Blood of the Lambsfoot!!
Looks like a dignified detective is investigating in a damp, dangerous atmosphere!
Wonderful photos, José!What and enchanting (enchanted??) castle!
Eye-popping ebony and environment, Dave!!
Vibrant and venerable lambsfoot, OG!
Congrats on the sublime ironwood, Chris, and welcome to the Guardians!
Jack & Dwight, those stag damascus lambsfoots are pinnacles of the cutlers' art!!
Heart-stopping handle on your knife, WDJ!!
Good to see you here, Chin! That's an edge on your lambsfoot to which I can aspire!!
I hope you have plenty of pleasure pursuing your piscatorial passion this season, John!
Great pic!Somehow, I never thought of Sköll as a "roses for Mom" kind of wolf.

Harvey, that Hunter and Son has so much character! How old is it? Did you order it or find it in person? With the new Guardians come on board and more will be coming. Happy weekend, my fellow guardians.
I like supporting local businesses and "the little guy", even if I have to pay more. I don't buy from Amazon any more either. It seems that all the cool little shops are closing around here too!
They just built a big Amazon warehouse out by my work and it seems that jets are flying in and out everyday. People look at me like I am weird ( probably because I am ) when I tell them that I refuse to buy anything from Amazon.
I'm old and I hate change!
Now, get off my lawn.![]()
