Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thank you Preston, I'm struggling, and my work is suffering if I'm honest, and I don't get a lot of time for the other Porch threads. I'll stick with it as long as I can though, it's great to see this thread so active and healthy  Those winds sound bitter! Great seasonal pic there though :)
I nearly lost the second half of my post there! o_O Hope everyone has had a good day. I'm not far off hitting the hay here, as I have an early appointment with my pals in the market tomorrow ;) Going to be taking Lucy with me

Great image of your Lucy. love the tins. Great for storage.

donn donn Great view, David. I wonder how old the carving is.

@Travman Nice image of your AC.

Good Morning Guardians

:)The mention of the knife is now yours is strictly forbidden.:)

Ouch!
Jack, thank you,
The rain is kind of nice, I'll take it over triple digit heat any day.
That '18 is looking well loved.
Its an A. Wright and son special factory order commissioned by Jack Black. If you start reading about page 550 of this thread it will tell the story.
If I were you, I would get a membership and PM Jack to be put on the e-mail list.;)

I love Jack Russells, don't see many longhair. They have more energy than most dogs...always doing something. Here they compete in Earthdog competitions. From what I have been able to gather, they run though a maze like structure. Some underground some above after the quarry(usual rats), part scent part visual.

Thanks, I hadn't even looked at that pic in that way. Now that gives me ideas for other "Giant Lambsfoot" pics.

They are a great pattern aren't they? Slim and slicey , that's how I like 'em. :D
Is yours Rosewood ? I like the look of it.

That doughnut looks almost as good as that stag Lambsfoot,

I can find alllllll kinds of stuff to do besides using that shovel. :D

I'm glad you did post that awesome Senator, YOWZA !
Thanks Jack.

You have many wonderful, creative photos
Thanks John.

That's quite the family portrait there :)

Thanks OG. You know apparently there's not a single company left in the UK that makes dimple glasses. If you find any in British pubs these days they've apparently been made by a company in Turkey.
Hope you have a nice family time in Yosemite btw.

Morning Guardians.
Meant to be in work today but got cancelled so just kicking my heels round the house with my rosewood.

Nice photo, David, a little Easter Island like...enjoy your day!
I'm afraid not mate, but I did bump into 'Dave' on my travels ;)

Mmmmmmm.....:)

That's an interesting snippet of info David, how strange  I actually come across them more than I did in the 70's (that's Leeds for you ), but it took me sometime to overcome a long-term aversion to the style due to once being hit over the head with one! There was a brief fashion in the early 80's for dimpled straight glasses, which were particularly ugly o_O

Good man :) When I joined, there really weren't anywhere near as many photos posted, particularly in General ('The Rowdy House'). Even though, I no longer use it, I have maintained a paid Photobucket account, so that the pics don't disappear from old threads (no longer happens), but since the software changed messed up most of those threads anyway, I think I'm going to cancel the bank transfer this year. I do think missing pics make a thread look ugly, but it seems PB no longer delete them entirely. I did switch to using the BF software - before they changed things. Currently using Imgur, but I think it will only be a matter of time before that comes to an end, like the other free photo-hosting sites I've used in the past (eg ImageShack)

Strangely I never had that request! :D

Thank you my friend, nothing exciting to report from the market, but Lucy enjoyed being the centre of attention ;)

Sounds like a great trip OG, hope we're going to see pics ';) Have a fantastic time

Excellent pic Kevin :)

Thank you Jose :)

That's a great pic David, hope you manage to find something to do ;)

Morning folks, hope everyone has a great day :) Just wondering how Dave's (@dc50) move is going, hope he's doing OK

Lucy basking in today's sunshine

FFDvyXZ.jpg
Lucy in cob webs...Lucy in sunshine she, sure is getting around.
At last! The Daleks have invaded Harrogate! :D
When I was a kid, just after they'd screened '2001' on telly one day all I got for weeks after at school was "what are you doing Dave?".
That got boring quickly.

That must of hurt. Surely another tale for your book? :D
I quite like them, and apparently there's some "research" which claims the dimples enhance the flavour of the beer. Your right though they are becoming more popular however they are more expensive to buy so I'm sure as people nick them from pubs, they probably won't be replaced. I found mine between the rafters of the 400 year old pub I used to manage over 20 years ago so it's definately the genuine article.

And most deserving of it she is to

Cheers John. The carvings are an art work installation on the site of an iron age burial mound on the 'Wolds Way', a 79 mile walking path in East Yorkshire. There based on small iron age chalk figurines that have been found in and around iron age burial mounds and earthworks in East Yorkshire. Representations of human figures by iron age Britons are extremely rare; the originals are held Hull Museum.

The photos are looking north off Knapton Brow on the Yorkshire Wolds across the Vale of Pickering, to the North Yorkshire Moors (Dalby Forest and Lockton Moor) on the horizon.

Absolutely nothing, as even though it's just a tin it's a nice tin and I can't bring myself to spoil it.:D I've got half-a-dozen Altoids tins one or two of which look very much like what Taylor has posted. Were you wanting a spare one? Happy to post it back to you Jack if you need it for something.
David thanks for the extended explanation and more photos...interesting place.
Hey folks, do you remember the hinged metal tins I sent out with the 2019 Guardians knives, (and with some of the DamLambs)? Has anyone done anything with theirs, using it in any way? I'm going to use mine for a wee fire kit for when I go out hiking, but would love to know what everyone else is doing with theirs (if anything)
I have not done anything with mine.

Well Guardians, my computer is not being cooperative. It's placing the quoted replies where ever it wants, not where the cursor is. I have to leave early so I'm going to be done here and now. Hope your evening is relaxing and your ready for the weekend.

That’s a beautiful beast, Joshua. Nice, crisp, walk and talk. Must be quite a cutter. Cool!

Thanks, Harvey. I'm really enjoying it. It is quite thing behind the edge, but very thick blade stock. Cuts fine for my needs, but the best part is the tip, which is very acute.

Dangggg! That walk and talk is amazing....wow.

I wish I had three hands so I could hold the camera on my phone while opening it, because the opening is even better than the closing. It's a blast!

Thanks Jack for asking about the metal tin, that you sent with the "19", mine is serving to store my buttons including the most recent ones sent by you!!!:)

Good stuff Jose, I like your pic :)

Really beautiful piece of craftsmanship. What brand is it?

Thanks for the compliment

Dang good stout by a dang good brewery that has been around forever!

Looks tasty Taylor, I've not had that one yet :)

Thanks Preston, sorry to hear about your posting problems :( It sounds like it might be the BF software, rather than your computer, maybe there is a thread about it in the Technical sub-forum? Lovely photo there

Carried the K'roo today. It's the perfect size for something smaller, but has a hefty pull and snap!

Great little video Joshua, you got a special knife there :) How does the pull compare to the Wright knives out of interest? With the thick blade stock, it looks like it has some heft to it in general

I hope everyone's Friday is a good one with a great weekend to follow

Thanks OG, I enjoyed that :)

Morning Guardians, Friday again, and just like last week, the weather here has taken a nose-dive just in time for the weekend  It's not too bad today, but due to rain all day tomorrow supposedly :( Hope the rest of you are sitting in the sunshine :) I'm taking a pal out for lunch today, accompanied by my big ebony. Have a great day folks

Thank you David. One of the things I enjoy most in this thread are the links like the one’s you and others leave there. They’re like an open door to troves of interesting information.

Excellent pic David!!;)

Fascinating post David :)

Nice photo, David, a little Easter Island like...enjoy your day!
...David thanks for the extended explanation and more photos...interesting place.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like my little forays into history and stuff. It's often a learning thing for me to as it's usually the first time I've looked stuff up myself.

Jack Black Jack Black I keep my tin in my desk drawer and keep extra ink cartridges for my fountain pens in it, along with a couple of empty vials of candle scent samples.

Thanks Jack for asking about the metal tin, that you sent with the "19", mine is serving to store my buttons including the most recent ones sent by you!!!:)

I'm going to have to find something interesting to do with tin...

The lack of steps there (perhaps designed to assist the perambulations of elderly residents) made it a natural choice for Dalek colonization! :D

It did! I still have a small crescent-shaped scar on top of my head

Thank you mate, but you hang onto it :) I actually have a few spare ones. There were a few left after the 2019 Guardians knives went out, so I thought I might as well use them to package the DamLambs. I then realized I still had a few of the Guardians knives left, so I had to buy another dozen  :D I have some larger ones for the Barlow's, which I hope will be useful

They probably all just ended up queuing at Betty's... :D
As OG said that must of hurt being brained by one of those things. They don't smash; it must of been like being hit with a magnum of champagne...:D

Jack Black Jack Black Thank you Jack. This Senator is a jewel. Just watched two documentaries. The first was England, a million years ago to the present.
View attachment 1129350

The other was King Henry Vlll. Let’s just say he had issues.

Serial killers have issues. Henry VIII was in a different league.
Hope the documentaries were interesting. Is that picture meant to be native Britons from a million years ago? Cos I know of some towns in the north of England that look like them every Friday night.:D

Thank you to both of you for wishing us a nice time. Of course I jinxed the weather as it rained here pretty good in the evening and through the night. White clouds in the sky now but cold and windy. Rain up there would be OK but it's the threat of a sudden snow storm that has me slightly worried.

I think may have put this one up before but it's cold outside and I'm gettin ready for tomorrow's trip, anyway.
OG.

I've not been to a circus in years! And I've certainly not ever found a cracking old lambsfoot like that one. You guys do have some luck finding these things.
Safe trip. I was in Yosemite years ago during a really wet summer. It was very atmospheric and quite eerie. Or it was once you got away from the crowds.:D

My chickens need to step their games up!!!

Hi Preston, I think there's something going on with Bladeforums. I lost a multi-quote a couple of days ago because I just couldn't keep it complied properly and last night I was happily on this thread whilst making my tea and then "Poof!" it just stopped working. I could access any other website no problem.
Great shot of your Senator there

I'm just about to step out the door to a beer festival. I've not decided which knife is accompanying me yet but you'll probably see a picture of it later perched next to a half of something.
Hope you all have a nice Friday.

Thanks, Jack!

The pull is very similar to the 2019 Guardian, but the half stop gives it a little different feel, of course. It is definitely heavier than my other lambsfoot knives but not uncomfortably so. I don’t have a scale to get a precise comparison.

One interesting feature is the way Willem relieves the liners for the blade pivoting. I’ve seen Jason Taber’s method of grinding circular reliefs, but Willem does some kind of hammering that looks similar to orange peel. Combined with the forged finish on the tang it makes for smooth and consistent pull, despite the heavier pull weight.

Carried the K'roo today. It's the perfect size for something smaller, but has a hefty pull and snap!
After seeing the video I totally get it Joshua. What a muscled up lambsfoot and the f/f is exquisite. The blade is art all by itself.

accompanied by my big ebony. Have a great day folks
Beautiful pastoral image Jack.

Have a great weekend all.

I know I quoted more than what is shown above...sorry, I'll try and get it sorted.

Thanks for the complement, Preston, you're too kind.
