Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

This is just a quick mock-up Wright's did to make sure the stamp looked OK on the steel Barlow bolster

That stamp looks great, Jack.

Half/Stop Half/Stop Ron, your two Lambs are definitely eye candy.
Thank you Harvey! :)

Great pic of that fine-looking pair Ron
Thank you Jack! :)

Thanks pal :) No, that's been sad, particularly as Ashley did such a good job of repairing the damage caused by the BFO  Lucy has stolen my heart, and my original '19 has been neglected as a result, despite its beauty

I had forgotten how beautiful this one is Jack! A beautiful example and Ashley did a wonderful job on the repair! :)

Here's a pic of my carry today, and my dillybag ;)

Morning Guardians, hope everyone is having a great weekend, and that you all enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Sunday :)
A truly one of a kind beauty Jack! The dilly bag is not bad either! Hope your Sunday is peaceful and relaxing my friend! :)

I think it looks GREAT!

That stamp looks great, Jack.

Thanks a lot guys, Wright's have only ever used it on the tangs of fixed-blade knives in the past, and not that frequently. I thought it would look great on a bolster, which they thought kind of strange, particularly as I wanted it on both sides, with a proper Barlow bolster, and in steel. All this is new to them, but I'm pretty pleased with how it looks. Think it's going to be a great knife :)

Love your K'roo Joshua

Hey Guardians, I hope you’re all having a great weekend!

Fantastic pictures everybody! I always start my mornings with the Guardian thread and lots of coffee. It means a lot to me that you all take the time to post such beautiful pictures of your Lambsfoot knives. My morning wouldn't be complete without them.

Hoping most of the rain has stopped...

Nice pic John :)

I decided to pair the Little Big Horn with the K’roo for church

Excellent choice Joshua, good to see those two together again :)

Going with horn today

Hope you have a great day John :)

Hi everyone, hope everyone's weekend is going well. Great pics again today. This is rapidly becoming the Lambsfoot Louvre :) Grats to all

Apparently we picked the only non stormy day of the week to make our Yosemite trip as we've had a little over 0.5 inches of rain in the last 24 hr and I'm sure it's snowing up there.
Here's a very brief 10 second video of Bridal Veil Falls (that's the fall in the valley floor pic I posted yesterday).
It is nothing spectacular but the point is that this is the amount of water that falls every 10 seconds of every minute of every day...sorry, I thought it would come out bigger :(- never tried to post a video before  I like to pick a spot as it goes over the top and follow it down
Here's a pic that was taken from the same spot, but looking in a more northerly direction.
El Capitan is a solid granite monolith whose top is 7569 feet (2,307 metres) above sea level and stands right at 3,600 feet (1,100 metres) over the valley floor.

Jack Black Jack Black The Parkin is fresh and tasty, and now sliced-up, resting in the freezer. I’m munching on a slice as I type this. Your Yorkshire Rose is so elegant.

As the project creator and leader, I understand your frustration with the Barlow so near, yet seemingly so far to completion. I, on the other hand, am strangely calm and patient. That’s because it looks like your latest is a total Bobby Dazzler.:) The stamp is beautiful, and on both sides even. The Sambar Stag and all the other sweet touches will make this one of the best ones yet. Almost there, my friend. BTW...Your Lambsfoot is especially nice today.:)

@Foddering - Hey Dwight...Great angled image of your Dami Lamb.

JohnDF JohnDF John, that’s a beautiful image of your Lambsfoot frolicking in the water.

OLd_gUY OLd_gUY Hard to top your Lambsfoot with El Capitan in the background. Ansel would be proud.

Good Morning Guardians.

Good morning, Guardians!

Rise and Shine!

Fine photo and pile side Vince. Those ACs really are some of the best examples of that size Lambsfoot version I’ve seen.

By coincidence I also took a brick background pic a few days ago:

Top of the Morning to all :)
Well, this old grandpa survived the trip to Yosemite and everyone had a wonderful and memorable time.
Although it snowed there the night before, our day saw nary one drop of precipitation and we experienced the skies you will see below
I resisted spending $$ at Ansel Adams as a small voice kept murmuring "Barlow...Barlow" as I looked ( Jack Black Jack Black - hint, HINT, HINT ;)) although I do have the card from one gallery employee
All in all, a great time was enjoyed by all:

That must have been a great experience to share with your family OG. Those photos are incredible. What an amazing vista!

Very nice. Welcome!

Can you tell us a bit more about those knives? Is that Wright at top covered with curly birch?

Who is the maker of the middle Lambsfoot? I can’t quite make out the tang stamp.

I love seeing old knives like that Taylor’s - not only well used over many years, but sharpened so carefully by the owner, too. It still has a very usable pointed tip, rather than the more usual rounded off end from wear.

Cambertree Cambertree Thank you Chin. That was such a nice thing for you to say. It’s a pleasure to see the images of your travels, as well as to hear your thoughts on the care and feeding of the Lambsfoot. Especially because it comes from knowledgeable, first hand experience. I”ll do my best not to spirit away any more of those Lambsfoot treasures from Australia.:)

Thanks Harvey. I’ve been enjoying your exploration of English history and culture as well as your fine Lambsfoot pics.

I also was prompted to read up on some subjects Jack recently posted here on - the Battle of Dinting Dale and the Battle of Towton in the Wars of the Roses. The Battle of Towton must have been a bloody cataclysm for those involved, fought as it was for hours on a Palm Sunday in a raging snowstorm.

Thanks pal :) No, that's been sad, particularly as Ashley did such a good job of repairing the damage caused by the BFO  Lucy has stolen my heart, and my original '19 has been neglected as a result, despite its beauty

Wow, I’d quite forgotten what an amazing knife that proto Ironwood 2019 is. One of the cool things about seeing all the knives of the 2019 series here, is you can see some of the timber patterns continue through the different covers, as presumably some of them were slabbed out of the same, single bit of ironwood.

That knife has both the ‘black ribbons’ or ‘black riverbend’ pattern that some of the nicest examples have, and also the densely figured ‘faces and flames’ whorled kind of effect. Very fine archive knife for the series, and it looks like an excellent repair job.

Awesome pic Kevin :)

Always a treat when you post Chin, hope you're doing OK pal :) I think they ARE a fashion accessory for many, but on steep terrain a lightweight pole, or even better a pair, can really help, particularly when carrying a heavy load, and will take tons of weight off the knees going downhill. When I was growing up, mountaineers carried long axes, which doubled as a walking stick, and that was still the case among winter hillwalkers well into the 1990's. I was an early proponent of pairing ski-poles with a much shorter axe, which now seems to be more de rigeur. These days, I only ever use poles when there is thick snow on the ground, and I'm climbing steep terrain, preferring a wooden stick or staff for the low level walking old-age has largely confined me to ;) I've recently purchased a DD Superlight Tarp, but not had a chance to take it out yet

I'm afraid my mate had sold the razor, but I see them fairly recently Chin :) You are one of several friends that I've been meaning to send a package to for months, but have had a very busy year with these pesky Lambsfoot knives  ;)

Thanks mate :D

That's a great pic Chin, and a great use for your tin :) I do the same with choice tinder. I've heard the word dillybag used before  Hey, I watched a film about Ben Hall the other night, wouldn't say it was a great film though

I'll tell you about it sometime  I think it might be a SCOTTISH rite of passage! That's a good point about the straight glasses, it's surprising how tall they can be stacked without the glass breaking  Not that I think it's a good idea, but I guess, if you work in a busy bar, it's something of a necessity

Excellent pic, hope you enjoyed it my friend :)

Here's a pic of my carry today, and my dillybag ;)

Morning Guardians, hope everyone is having a great weekend, and that you all enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Sunday :)

Thanks mate, I liked hearing about the axes and ski poles, sounds like a good kit improvement you advocated.

No worries at all on the razor and mail.

Ha, nice dillybag, and exemplar Lambsfoot, of course.

Yes it’s a pity that there are not more decent films on Australia’s frontier days. Nick Cave’s film The Proposition and Peter Carey’s novel The True History of The Kelly Gang are a couple of good recent portrayals of 19th century Australia’s savage heart.

Very nice stamp choice, Jack. That’ll be a fine looking Barlow bolster.

Cambertree Cambertree Chin, thanks for sharing your seemingly limitless knowledge!

Thanks Joshua, I’ve been enjoying your posts and vids lately. That K’roo is a nice stout piece. I love the look of the covers in contrast with the polished backspring and steel liners.

I’m keen to see that effect in the all steel Barlows coming up too.:cool:

I’ve also been digging the edges you’ve been putting on your knives. Nice work with that King waterstone.:cool:

Ah yes, now I recognize them. :D

;):)

Cambertree Cambertree you always provide great recommendations. That Marcus Clarke book is something I want to read. As for English History, I find myself jumping around. There’s so much to learn. One of my jumps was to the War of the Roses. The depiction of Henry Vl, the “Mad King,” wasn’t very flattering, to say the least. If only Richard had been a little more patient at the end, he might have worn the Crown, instead of having his severed head stuck on a pole.

A great photo of that beautiful Lambsfoot Dwight! It really highlights the Damascus!
Thank you Ron. :)

It’s Ironwood and Damascus for me today.
Your ironwood DamaLamba has some dreamy drama going on in that grain.

Hoping most of the rain has stopped...
Very nice water shot John.

Thank you sir.

Much appreciated Harvey. Another fantastic use of color and texture. Your images are so very visually tactile.

I'm gonna get this book by Marcus Clarke Chin.

Thank you kind sir.

Attention dc50 dc50 - Just a shout-out to you Dave! Your absence is deafening my friend and you are greatly missed. I hope your nest building is coming along well. Hurry back.

Yeah, where is you, Dave? Hope you get settled in quickly.

I was just thinking this, but you and Vince said it. dc50 dc50 Yeah Dave, your presence is noticed and missed. Hope the move is going well. Looking forward to your return.

Just thinking the same. Hope everything is running smoothly!

Me too, missing Dave, and hope the move is going OK

I miss his postings too. It was nice to see him "liking" some posts yesterday.
Thank you to all my friends! :D:D:D We are still unloading boxes  Then we need to purchase a fair bit of new furniture over the next couple of weeks.
We also need to contact an electrician and air-condition tradesmen then we should be in a more settled mode. :p

Thank you again for all the encouragements  as this was a difficult move I think age had something to do with this
Once we are really settled in, then I would like to take a few photos of some of the points or buildings of interest.
It warms my heart to have all the Guardians as friends, peace to you all.
I am so far behind and will be for a couple of weeks yet, so if I miss your post please understand. :)
