Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

In my last training with my department. Only 4 more days left with the Probation Department!....no Lambsfoot in my pocket today though:(. But I want to say I hope everyone is having a fantastic Tuesday. Hoping for a Hartshead Barlow waiting for me when I get home!

Me, too, Taylor; me, too!

Hope your wishes come true gents :)

WOW! That is certainly stunning! Beautiful workmanship - I know that you are very proud to have it in your pocket.
Knowing that my Hartshead was crafted by such a talented young cutler who is so capably carrying on the tradition of English cutlers makes it extra special  The more I handle them, the more impressed I am. I love how they feel in my hand. The heft and fit is just "Wright" ;)
I can hardly wait to read the experiences of others as they receive theirs.

Thank you OG, I also like the extra heft of these knives - though carrying a hundred of them back from Sheffield wasn't as much fun! :D That is beautiful stag on yours :)

Giving some time to the ironwood. Three beautiful knives, but I think the Barlow will surpass them all.

Nice choice Vince, my Lucy is sulking a little ;)

It is, now that you mention it, Harvey. I had an uncle that was like that, he was known to rub shoulders with folks in the federal government fooled a resort hotel that he was a master chef. Also worked as an engineer on a huge Dam Project was wanted by the Mafia as they came looking for him on our farm that was an experience I won't forget  I guess I was around 16 at the time. Oh yeah during WW2 he married a woman in England as they were stationed there. The problem was he had a wife back in Canada. :p

Blimey, what a character Dave! :D I know every family has one, but...:D

Beautiful pic :)

I'm about 20 pages behind right now....sigh. Sure was nice up in the Olympics this weekend though!!

Camped right at the forks of the Wolf and Dungeness rivers where, by chance, is this huge forked fir tree. The rivers are there behind the tree but hidden by the dense foliage.

What a great place to camp Barry, and thank heavens you had a Lambsfoot with you :) Thank you for the wonderful pics :)

Good day, folks.

I've been enjoying seeing everyone's Hartsheads as they arrive. Makes the wait all the more agonizing, yet I know that the delivery will be all the sweeter.

In the meantime, I'm carrying this ol' thing today.

Sounds like a book Dave, with a movie option.

gunstockjack gunstockjack Beautiful Country, Barry. Pictures are great.

Pàdruig Pàdruig That’s a really nice looking Lambsfoot you got there Dylan.

I think you right Jack every family has one. :p Uncle Ted came back from where ever, a week before Linda and I were to be married. He gave my Mom some desperate story that he needed to borrow some cash and only needed it for a day. So Mom gave him $100 and we never ever saw him again:rolleyes: that money was supposed to be a wee gift for us on our wedding day.

Beautiful black and white shot

Thanks guys, I did that last night though! :D

I always think it has to be me in my family, but then my niece tells me what my brother-in-law is up to! :D

Really?! How rotten! o_O I've gone off him now!

Beautiful country Barry. That looks like good kayaking.

Gorgeous Dylan.

Dwight, kayaking would be great for the 20 seconds or so you'd have before getting sucked under the big fir tree across the river a few yards downstream (and upstream). There are many opportunities for white water in the area, but this portion is unnavigable except for the elk, which cross these river without a second thought.

Awesome oldie Dylan.

Pàdruig Pàdruig That’s a really nice looking Lambsfoot you got there Dylan.

Thank you so much, fellas. I really wish I could know more about this knife but the absence of a tang stamp and other identifying markings makes it likely impossible to know more. Some of the neat features of this knife though that set it apart from the others in my collection are interesting.

Though it has nickel silver bolsters, it has steel liners and pins, quite curious. It also sports the thinnest blade out of all of my Lambsfoot knives, it cuts like a laser! It also has the stoutest pull out of any of my knives, the snap could likely remove a finger!

Hope to land one of those "old things" someday  Nice pic

Thank you, OG! I can't attest to the age of mine, though it is certainly older than all of my other Lambsfoot knives. I hope to find an old Joseph Rodgers or TEW or even from another firm one of these days, it would certainly class up my collection some.

Elk are some of my favorite creatures. Beautiful, powerful, spiritual, and yes... Delicious.

As always, there is just no way for me to keep up with the pace of this thread. I commend those of you that do!
I had some family in from out of town this last week and got to show them all over Northern California. We spent the last two days in Yosemite so I could show them the newly re-opened Mariposa Grove and, of course, Yosemite Valley. I tend to stay away from the valley altogether and especially during the summer months (April/May or Sept/Oct is ideal)...but it never gets old. I might enjoy showing Yosemite to folks for the first time just as much as I enjoy being there myself...which is a lot
My wife gave this coin to me because she knows I am the reincarnated John Muir :)

Strangely, I have found that Sheffield cutlers rarely seem to carry a pocket knife. That was true of the young cutler who made our Hartshead Barlows until recently. He liked the pattern so much, he decided he wanted one for himself. I not only like the idea he wanted one of our knives to carry, but that it is almost certainly the first knife he has made with steel liners and bolsters (Wright's ordinarily using brass and nickel silver respectively). He decided he wanted to fancy his Barlow up a bit with a file-worked back-spring and coined liners, and he made one for me too, which he presented me as a gift :)
