Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

About time for a family photo I think...

The ironwood is slightly bigger than the rosewood, and the Barlow slightly bigger still.

Great Team Shot John :)

Here's the blade of my stag Barlow, not had TIME to use it on much really! I'm sure as soon as r8shell r8shell gets hers, she'll be diving straight into a juicy Texan steak! :D

Now, I need to find where I've put my Rosewood Barlow! Grumble Towers is in a state of chaos at the moment, I've got knives and packaging covering just about every surface!

Edit - What a surprise, it was in the last place I looked, where it was supposed to be! :D

Yeah, it's hard to trick some of you more than once or twice. Fortunately there are always newbies who aren't expecting it! Muh-ha-ha-ha.

All this barber shop talk is interesting timing. I have a very good friend who started chemotherapy this month, and she asked me to drive her to get her head shaved. I guess it's especially unpleasant when one's hair falls out if you're starting out with very long hair. My regular hairdresser is closed on Fridays, so we just went to a Barber shop in the neighborhood that I'd driven past a few times. I didn't know they still had this old-school type of shop. Let's just say, the three old barbers looked so confused when we walked in. I assume very few women pass through those doors. My friend says, "I want my head shaved." They just stared at her, more confused. She said "Chemo." Then one hopped up, and said, "Alright, let's go." He was so sweet about it, asked if she wanted to keep the hair, talked about his niece going through the same thing, just really kind. It wasn't really a shave, more like the clippers set on 0.

r8shell r8shell - your posts are always worth a look and a good read too!

Well yes, there are others that get my attention too but this time I will pause for the applause to Rachel.:)

This year's battle cry could be:"We can do it because we have the Wright Barlow!"

AWRIGHT!! :D

Good one Jack! It's going to take me a while to catch up this morning.:)

Cheers Dave, take your time buddy :)

I'm just pausing for a quick beer and a burger (bit of a lazy burger) ;)

No, I was just talking rubbish! They've added a fourth pin to the horn models, but the others still have three. Sorry

Nice story Rachel, considering the circumstances :( Hope your friend is going to be OK :thumbsup:
No rubbish talk around here.:p The fourth pin on the horn models sounds like a good idea, and likely unnecessary on rosewood.

Thank you. Due to early detection, her prognosis is quite good. It's just going to be a "no good terrible bad" year of treatment.

Brilliant! :D

I've got a little on at least one of mine, just from cutting tape and packaging so far I think. The satin finished blades will patina more quickly than the polished ones, the same with the liners and bolsters, they're all the same C70 steel, though only the blades are heat-treated

Whoa! This is a toughy: The wonderful blade etch makes me hesitant to jump right into starting a patina. But learning that the bolsters are the same steel as the blades has me wanting to see them patinaed.

:D:thumbsup: Thanks!

Another Bay Area hater here too! The traffic is just soul crushing. We are planning to leave the area in the next year though. I can't wait!
The traffic, the cost of living, and all the extra millions of people around here that only care about themselves...there is no sense of home or community here anymore and that is soul crushing for me. My youngest just started High School...I have to wait 4 years then we are outta here. I've been ready to leave for quite a while but am trying to be patient so my kid can go to a good school
On a lighter note...had a great time in the Sierras last week or two! Trying to catch up here a little bit have a great Sunday everyone.

All this plus the multitude of tall buildings that mess with my vertigo. We won't even mention the TrOLL booths.
But then I get to come home to my sleepy town in the foothills and my Lambsfoot and all is well again. :D

At the moment...likely somewhere in the Auburn area. We love all of the gold country and the Sierras but like that area quite a bit...somewhere along Hwy 80. Hopefully by the time we get out there it won't be too expensive or crowded (might be too late).

Nice :) I do envy you.

Nice :) I do envy you.
Placer county is very nice, Auburn and Colfax area are great! Really like the Placerville, Camino and Pollock Pines area. Close to the mountains and the Tahoe which is nice as well.

I think I'm really going to like the Rosewood. Great shot Dwight
Thanks Dave, Every rosewood I've seen so far has been exceptional. Looking forward to seeing yours :)

You must be right chuffed with those.
Color me chuffed David!

Glad you're liking the rain Dwight, you'd love it here! :D Great pics my friend, the rosewood on the pile-side looks pretty interesting, with more character than you'd expect
Thank you Jack. The pile side really is extra special.

Your rosewood is beautiful as well, Dwight. Congratulations.
Thank you John. Your trio of lambs are magical my friend.

I have a relaxing day ahead as we don't leave for the Sacramento contest until afternoon. But it will be a late night getting home again. Hope you all have a great Sunday too.
Best of luck in a clean sweep John! Safe travels.

By the way, here's a pic of Cracker Jack's asymmetrical stag; it's a bit thicker on the "wrong" side, but I doubt if I'd trade it for anyone else's AC:
No way would I ever let Cracker Jack go either GT.

Major congratulations, Dwight, on your massive Hartshead haul!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: I agree with Jack that the pile side of your rosewood is especially remarkable with the big pale thumbprint!
Thank you kindly my friend. It has been very exciting!

Too late. "One of us, one of us."
Yep

Lovely story Rachel and I am happy to hear her prognosis is good.

Who's gonna get a patina going on their Barlow? This is the first knife I'm not jumping to get it all dark and grey looking...
Why you or Rachel... who else? Y'alls reputations precede you...

Terrific hand to play right there.

Wow that is so cool Jack. Great gesture from the lad.

Linda and I went to Montanas for the first time last night for a burger and beer. Ordered The Canadian Burger and I have to say it was one of the best tasting burgers we've had in years
That looks like a fantastic burger Dave! And I love em! :D  :D
