Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Yes indeed :) I remember, when my grandfather gave me my very first Lambsfoot as a kid, I thought it looked very odd indeed, but I have grown to appreciate the pattern more and more as I have got older, just an absolute pleasure to use

True! :D I'd almost forgotten! :D

and normally im a clip blade type of fella due to aesthetics but the lambsfoot is winning as close runner up for profile and slimness

I think a clip blade is hard to beat for sheer visual appeal :) What I'm finding interesting with my Lambsfoot is how little I miss the belly I thought I needed on a blade for certain tasks

thats right and depending on how one sharpens, some knives can gain or lose a belly!

Hello Jack Black Jack Black :)

Over on Edge Matters we've just had a post from a member who is most pleased with his latest purchase of Sheffield slippies and a particular note that he thinks the QC is better of late - this is great news.

However, given current UK government Consultation Paper on knife carry/knife type ownership, and, impending and possible severe restrictions to online purchases, I wonder if the few remaining Sheffield makers have got their act togther because if they don't watch it, they're going to get a boot in the goolies.....to put it bluntly I'm afraid.

Do you know if they have made any moves to have their voice heard, I certainly hope so..?

Sheffield, as we all know, was the birthplace of much knife-making the world over and made a start/great influence to much of the knife making across the pond.

We don't want to see what little there is left of Sheffield makers killed off by government legislation, which, though I thoroughly and utterly agree with the desire to reduce knife crime in UK, imho firmly believe they're going the wrong way about it.

There are already laws in UK to restrict selling knives to under 18's, yet the government has not made any apparent steps whatsoever to bring the fist of the law down upon them - and they know who they are - so instead, they will potentially make all the law-abiding folk who use these lovely slippies properly as tools, suffer.

If you, @knarfeng @Peregrin think this is an inappropriate post, or should be elsewhere, please delete or move as necessary.

.

As you know Paul, I share your concerns about this issue. I raised the matter in the Lounge after speaking to you the other week - https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...tales-vignettes.754492/page-863#post-17533589 , and there is some discussion about it in that thread. While I think that is a more appropriate place for discussion about the topic than this thread, which exists simply to discuss the Lambsfoot pattern, please bear in mind the sub-forum guidelines in terms of political discussion. There are also other sub-forums where it might be discussed more appropriately

Hey Jack Black Jack Black thanks man yeah it was a good game but funny little ones that are just learning the fundamentals of the game. Hope you get your slip son my friend.

Thanks for the kind words on my post on antler compared to horn, my friends.:)

Excellent, I'm looking forward to it, brother! Mackay and Northern Queensland along the Barrier Reef is a beautiful stretch of coastline. I'd love to visit Taiwan, some day. Here's a couple of pics of the countryside near me, I took yesterday.:)

I've spent many happy hours hunting rabbits for the pot, and foxes for the farmer, in this valley over the years.

Absolutely gorgeous! I went on a little trek this weekend and brought the Wright with me. Any folks who like natural settings would be thrilled with Taiwan.

WOW!!! Fantastic photos, bro - and great to see the Lambsfoot getting out and about in that amazing countryside.:thumbsup::)

I'm guessing that temple entrance on the mountainside goes back into a limestone cave system? Reminds me of the cave temples around Ipoh in Malaysia.

Looking forward to seeing more, my friend.

This is a creek in the bush near my place, which has a resident platypus in it nearby, according to one of the parks workers I got into a conversation with, there one day.

I was pleased to find a bed of good sized freshwater mussels just under the tree, near the right hand side of the bank.

I put it back, but if they keep spreading I may be tempted to try a few in future.

R8shell, you were asking about friendly birdlife here, a while ago. This Eastern Rosella flew down to inspect my knives I was taking a photo of recently. Just after I took this pic, it circled back to the other side and sidled up and had a quick peck at one! I didn't get a pic of that unfortunately!

My rosewood Lambsfoot has been helping me with food prep for the past couple of weeks. Here's a salad the two of us collaborated on last Sunday!

I didn't make this, just ate it, after a session down at my local range, the other day.;)

Wow, you have such brightly colored birds there, and friendly too. Maybe too friendly, watch it doesn't fly off with your knife! :p

Too right, I don't think I'd have put my Lambsfoot within reach of the monkey in SGIT's post! :D

Ha! Yeah, he’ll take what you’ve got, that’s for sure, though he’d probably regret it. Oh, I need to make sure to post a pic of the aboriginal blade I snagged on the trip. I’m sure the guardians won’t mind an extra blade popping up.

I bet! :D Sounds like a great blade, how about taking a comparison pic next to your Lambsfoot?
