Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Got a package from Sheffield today.

This one came quite crude, even for Wrights. Extreme side to side play, which took quite a few wacks with a hammer to correct. Blade came rusty, and the stag covers are a bit loose; when handling the knife you can feel them give and "pop" as you open and close the blade.

While not a problem, this one has much more cant than my rosewood.

The blade on this one is also of thicker stock, and a bit wider and longer. Overall the blade itself is much better made than my Rosewood, which is really wavy and kinked in several directions. With some work I think it'll make a good knife, though it won't any beauty contests.

I've become a huge fan of the Lambsfoot and I wish better made ones were more readily available. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that GEC does another, larger run of them.
Still, I love my Rosewood, flaws and all and it'll be hard to kick it out of my pocket ;)

I’m sure everyone is tired of seeing my plain jane rosewood lambfoot. Lol I just love this knife. It has barely left my pocket since I got it. Dollar for dollar you would be hard pressed to find a better knife IMO.
The plain Jane qualities of the rosewood are also its virtues
I love mine as well, and nothing else I own gets near as much use. If I decide to carry something else it rides along with, not in place of, my Lambsfoot.

Since the Lambfoot pattern is an English pattern and my Lambfoot knife with Buffalo Horn covers has come to live here in the United States of America, I thought it only fitting to show the knife with a dual relationship between Great Britain (GB) and the United States (US). Here is the station plaque for our joint base at Edzell, Scotland where I was stationed from 1968 - 1970.

You're very forgiving, but that sounds like a shocking piece of work my friend, I think you should contact them about it

Great pic Ed, thank you for your service :)

What do you think to this one?

The reverse of the main blade has been etched

That's a nice one Jack. I wonder if that's an original etch? I've got a two-blade Lambfoot on the way now.

That knife had its own thread at one point Ed, and is no doubt in the index :) Barry @gunstockjack found it, and then Duncan @Campbellclanman persuaded him to sell it to him, and send it to me :) Very grateful to both those gents. The etch or stamping has been added later I think, maybe purchased over here by a Navy man like yourself Ed :) It's a real tank (or battleship) of a knife :) I hope you get a nice two-blade, mine was a real nail-breaker

I posted this morning before I heard the news from Texas :( Just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you my friends
Thanks for your kind thoughts, Jack. I just got back from a long weekend in Dallas, didn't hear much news beyond the headlines.

Well, that's just cool. Do you know the story behind that one? (I guess we were posting at the same time)

I'm tempted sometimes to get a two blade Lambsfoot, wondering if I can tinker a bit and lighten the pull on the secondary blade. Please let us know what you think of it when it gets there.

I hope you had a good weekend Rachel :) Thank you, I'd love to know the knife's story. There was some speculation about the etch when Barry first posted about it, but I don't think it was done at the factory, probably cold-stamped by hand rather than etched I think. Maybe bought as a souvenir, or gifted. I'm sure there's an interesting story there, but I doubt we'll ever know it

I think the pull could be lightened, I half started on mine, but I don't really like the secondary 'pen' blade Wright's use.

Edit - Thought I'd add a pic ;)

Nice to see your Barlow ageing gracefully :)

Went to the Guinness brewery this morning. Could have spent the entire day. Wonderful. The suds weren’t bad either. The weather held up at least for the time being. Temple bar here I come!
