Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I started off mine by responding and posting early this morning to a number of posts made here late Friday and on Saturday. In my haste to finish I forgot to hit Post Reply:confused:o_O:rolleyes: It's that or I posted on another sub-forum, oh well...

I won't be doing much here after today except liking your fine posts and pictures. I'm going to be working/helping with a retriever handling and training clinic all next week. All I will have is my phone, I might have a little more time and to try and learn some new skills with it,since I won't have the three hour drive to and from the training grounds.

I will be having fun and learning, Dutch not so much, he won't be a participant and won't get to run any of the set ups. This clinic is for paying clients and their dogs. I'll work him after all is done for the day.

I still have sorting and packing to do, I will try and post pictures and respond to the posts here...I really will try! Rosie is coming along with us...

Glad you found your way back to the Guardian thread. ;)

I remember CB. My mate had one and would drive all over north Cheshire talking to other folk and occasionally meeting up. Nothing like Smokey and the Bandit in reality though, which must of been a bit disappointing :D
Aye it's a couple of years since I was in the Victoria and even longer since I was in The Templar but I just avoid the large city centres nowadays.
Stillingfleet is the Number 42 bus Selby-York. There's even a pub there; The White Bear maybe? which is a Sam Smith's pub

It was completely illegal for a while, then they licensed it on limited bandwiths. It was the Facebook of it's day! :D " Hey Rubber Duck, do you think you could get me some chips on the way home?" Me too, despite it's incredible architecture, the Victoria had a bad patch, but they're under new management, and the range of ales was much improved :) Thanks for the Stillingfleet info, I'll definitely head over at some point

Thanks, Jack.
Keep those hipster bartenders honest.

Thanks David. I just found two more boxes of toys so no shortage here. :D

Just to make it clear, (as I've done many times), somewhat bizarrely, A. Wright & Son do not run their own website, they don't even have anything to do with it.

This gentleman is in fact now semi-retired, and has sold his Sheffield business, but before he retired, he began using the phrase 'Pruner Handle' on his own site. Wright's themselves only use the term 'Pruner' in relation to the pruning knives they produce. The only name they assign to the Lambsfoot knives they produce with a curved frame is 'Swayback' (even though the smaller size has more sway than the larger two)
Great informative post, Jack!
I generally to rotate my knives, but this stag Hartshead Barlow has really taken over my pocket  Shown here with a few things I picked up yesterday

Now I better get on with some chores!
Looks like a good score, Jack!!:thumbsup:
My pruner lambsfoot is my favourite pocket knife, the one I carry the most and the reason I ended up following this locomotive of a thread so closely. :D I do though have quite small hands so that could be the reason it fits so well as it's quite a small and narrow knife.

And what a dandy it is!
One of my favorites as well!;)
The picture is my Big'un balanced on the strapping on the ancient church door in St' Helen's church, Stillingfleet, North Yorkshire.

Very cool stuff, David! Love the metal work on the door!:thumbsup:
My grandfather made all sorts of things during WW2, but sadly I only have the wee (post war) Penny Spitfire he made me now. Here's some more pics of that simple Match Box Cover

Great pairing, Mark! Love the vintage rod and reel!
I used to know a couple of amateur radio enthusiasts - recent times not in the past - even in that sort of strange world, the morse guys are apparently considered the weirdest.
KE5JBN is my amateur call sign...
But...it's a no-code, so hopefully I'm not too weird!:D:p
To be fair, it may be a useful skill. Having said that, my dad was a radio operator in the Army, but I'm not sure he ever used morse again! :D
I've been told those guys dreamed in di-dots!
Good Morning Guardians
It's a dandy, John!
View attachment 1177071 Morning guardians native blueberry season here so I thought muffins would be a great start

Good morning Guardians! Dennis and David, thank you so much for the encouragement! "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; . . . struck down, but not destroyed." I'm staying strong and believing for the best.
Great attitude, my friend!:)
My WCLF is starting to gain a little character. Here it is after cutting up a box of mangoes and tray of peaches.

Thank you Dennis. Nothing but good thoughts and best wishes for you as you gradually sort out your issues. I greatly admire your positive spirit, my friend.
Thank you so very much, Harvey!!:)
went into my favorite bakery for bread and a sweet roll. The new person overcharged me. I gently pointed out the error. The manager apologized offering me a slice of cake and a refund. I refused the refund, because of her generosity. She responded by giving me another slice of another cake. I mean these were thick slices.

Although the blade etch appears to be faded in this photo, it is not - the angle against the sun only makes it appear so.
Cool shot, Ed! What is the composition of the stone?
I had some fun with my Lambsfoot this morning.
My wife had some balloons that were starting to deflate.
My son and i broke out the Lambsfoot and had some fun popping them.
I may not be a child, but I am most definitely childish. ;)

:D:thumbsup:

Picked up a few books on my travels yesterday :)

We've had some heavy rain here recently, and there's been a fair bit of flooding recently, and the dam wall of a large reservoir threatened to collapse  I noticed the rivers were still high when I was out yesterday. This is just a sort of gutter, which brings rain off the hills into the small River Colne, running through the small mill town of Slaithwaite (pronounced Sla'wit) I visited yesterday, but it had been transformed into quite a torrent.

Here's a pic with a beautiful Hand carved Bamboo walking stick that I was given by my Grandfather around 1986. The carvings are exquisite.

This is the waterwheel at Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park in St. Helena, California. It’s a neat place. The mill has been restored and they give demonstrations of it in action. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Napa County and are into this sort of thing.
