Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

But very wholesome.
I have to get wholesome again. My shirts are shrinking.

I know what you mean Jer, I lost 30 lbs at the beginning of the year, but it took a lot of effort, and I've kind of got my appetite back!  :D

When I go out for a hike, particularly in the cooler months, I like to stop and make coffee. I'm a coffee snob though, and haven't drank instant coffee for decades. I tried various methods out in the woods, but I recently saw someone suggest coffee bags as an easier alternative to fresh coffee. I think I tried these once in the late 70's, but hadn't tried them since. I managed to find some online made by Taylor's of Harrogate, and being familiar with their Hot Lava Java blend, thought I'd give them a try. Have to say I'm disappointed, even a slug of Jameson's couldn't make this good coffee :( Does anyone else have any experience of these?

Never even heard of coffee bags, Jack! I'm a coffee snob too. I buy Starbucks at the store--best I've tried--and brew strong at home. I drink it black. I like automatic drip coffee makers the best. When camping (which I don't do much of anymore), I usually use a percolator. My grandmother just poured coffee grounds in a pan with water and boiled it. Ya gotta pour it real careful when ya make it that way!

Anyway, Good Morning, Guardians!

I tried coffee bags a while ago, thinking they'd be good in emergencies, but they weren't. My theory is the water doesn't stay hot enough long enough for the coffee to steep enough.

Yes, very disappointing Jer, and I now have 29 of them! o_O

I don't recommend them Vince! :D I hadn't heard of them for years until I saw a bushcrafty type feller recommending them on YouTube, wish I hadn't watched the video now! :D I usually use a press at home, and sometimes take a small one out with me, but it's extra weight and faff, used a percolator too in the past :) Recently I've been using one of these wee Vietnamese coffee makers, they give you a good strong espresso shot, and are compact and lightweight. I started out making coffee in a pan like your grandmother Vince, and I've also used small Arabic/Turkish coffee pans. The attraction of the coffee bags was not having to take a second pan, and not having any mess, but I think I'll go back to the Vietnamese coffee maker for now

Jack Black Jack Black - more fine images from your hike, as well as the pub.

dc50 dc50 - Dave I thought about you and those beautiful vintage trucks when I came across this one from 1947. Cheers!

Thank you Harvey, that's a really cool old truck, and a great pic of your WCLF too :)

I'm not that particular about my coffee as long as it's black and strong.
This has been my go-to coffee solution when I get to the outdoors for some fishing, hiking or camping. Super easy and it tastes good.

I guess there's a lot to be said for keeping it simple John :)

I've managed to post a picture of my Hartshead, my Waynorth, and my African Rosewood this morning.
Seems like something is missing? O Yeah... Skoll :D

Great to see Skoll my friend, he's unique! :)

A wonderful prize package Dave! As always there was considerably more in the package than expected! This is something that our friend Jack is well known for! Congratulations again my friend, yours was definitely an ingenious entry and well deserving of the victory! :D
Thank you so much Ron that was a fun one to do. Now that you are 65,does this mean you can now collect the senior's pension that youve paid into all these years?
I'll third it, I miss Dwight too :(
:thumbsup::):(
Glad you found them of interest Dave, I've never come across that breed before (not that I know much about sheep), figured they were kind of small to have horns! :D
I used to ride around with my Dad in the summertime and learned a lot about agriculture, as my Dad was the district inspector for the County.
Dave I thought about you and those beautiful vintage trucks when I came across this one from 1947. Cheers!
