Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I found this in my ancient familiar grocery store while looking for something else.

Thanks David. Sorry to hear your crop was so bad this year.

I'm afraid the shovels don't see much use anymore. I have so many newer fiberglass handled shovels I wouldn't want to risk breaking these older ones. My new neighbor (20 something) offered to buy them and hang them on her wall as "Art". I told her I kinda liked them.

"Hump Day" is referring to Wednesday, middle of the work week. If you make it through Wednesday it's said you are over the hump and on the downhill side towards the weekend.

Shovel art eh? I've got to say that's a new one on me o_O We have 'car boot sales' over here which usually have some bloke selling old tools. Apparently quite popular since some journo' a few years ago published a piece in some magazine that claimed new tools were crap and old tools were pure quality. I dare say he was probably right in some respects.
I like the expression 'Hump Day' :D Unfortunately as a shift worker I guess I have a couple of 'humps' a week. :D

Happy Thursday, Guardians.

The discussion of scissors a few days ago led me to hunt these up. The small Red pair is marked "Clauss USA". My Grandfather cut a penny in half with these many years ago after seeing someone else do it. They still cut paper cleanly. They were issued to all Bell telephone employees and I never saw him without a pair of these on his belt. Night and day.
The yellow pair marked "Wiss" look a lot like Chin's @Cambertree posted a while back.
Of course, pictured with the Jack Black Ironwood SFO's.

What a great shot; and it's great you still have your grandfather's scissors. You probably know this but the yellow pair are 'kitchen scissors, hence the bottle opener and nut cracker.

As you know, I don't get out of Yorkshire much these days ;)

And why the blazes would you want to? It's pretty wild country outside of God's Own ya know...:D

Great pics David, I spent quite a bit of time in Kent when I was around 20, mainly in Maidstone, but I have never visited Rochester.

That's incredible about the penny, sounds like just the sort of thing a granddad would do :D Nice history there my friend, and an excellent pic :) I picked up a nice pair of Wiss flower shears once, but gave them away

My Ashley's Choice SFO Lambsfoot is with me today :) Hope everyone is having a good one

WXVV6bA.jpg

Aye Kent seems a nice county; not as populated as you'd think given it's proximity to London. I don't know it particularly well but try to visit once a year as I've a friend down there.
Those Wiss shears look immaculate.

Is that a glass bottle as well?! Blimey, there as rare as hen's teeth! I gave up HP Sauce when they switched production to the Netherlands out of the UK.

Yeah, a lot of folks smoke roll-ups here now 'cos they're cheaper (wasn't really a factor when I was a kid and all tobacco was cheap), which I think has led to some pretty rotten tobacco being on the market. Anybody smoke '3 Castles' from Ireland, I nearly started smoking again for that stuff?! :D Dry tobacco sucks, I think there's stuff you can do. As a kid I used to smoke Old Holborn in liquorice papers - but then I was a kid! ;) Cool pic Kevin
I will have to see if I can get a hold of some of that 3 Castles.
Smashing pic of your Ashley that you posted today.

Happy Thursday, Guardians.

Excellent pair of '19s, Mark.
I have some of those Clauss electrician scissors, built like a tank. I read that they were through hardened so they could take the hard use they might get in the field.

Have a good Thursday, Guardians!

Take a couple of days off, then take a day to catch back up :)

...I recently took a trip after my brother surprised me with tickets and airfare to go see Wardruna (a Norwegian folk band) at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver, Colorado. It was a rather magical experience...

gU1ZAlh.jpg

BTvq4Hu.jpg

Envious of the trip to Denver. Seeing a show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre is definitely on the bucket list. Condolences for your loss as well. Hardest part of having pets is filling the holes in life they leave behind. He was a handsome guy!

...I dug out a couple slingshots from my youth and they're a bit different from the ones being posted now. A lot of time was spent with these old plastic models back when I was a kid. Extra ammo was stored in the hollow handles. Surgical tubing was the norm, back then. Have you ever used this style? I may have to try a new one and see how they compare.

d8PYO2V.jpg

QlEW1rH.jpg

I used to have a Wrist Rocket type when I was younger. They were a lot of fun. The biggest change now is the quality of the tubes/flat bands you can get. The other day I put new tubes on one (same as yours with the brace above) for a family member, and he couldn't believe the difference. Easier to draw, and surprising speed out of them. Those antler ones of yours look great :)

Hopefully this will at least be an improvement on how it came (though the rubber is a bit BRIGHT - must be an anti-zombie slingshot! ;) )

8XRm5cv.jpg

That's a great looking slingshot! Love the green tubes, Jack :D

Still the rosewood L'il Lambsfoot. Can't say enough how much I like this little guy! Sorry for the recycled photo, but wanted to have some knife content in my post ;)

WOW !!!! I've had an exciting and rewarding day. FIRST - I got up at 5:30 AM so I could post my Good Morning Guardians picture; SECOND - it was off to the local hospital for a CAT Scan of my head, mouth, jaw, and I can't remember the rest. The CAT Scan Center doesn't have suckers :( I'll have to have a talk with them about that. THIRD - It was off to the Dentist for a fang cleaning!! Now, this trip turned out to be rewarding because although the Dentist didn't have suckers, they gave me the magazine "Ranger Rick" Just up my alley and I know r8shell r8shell would like it because it has a "Special Camping Section". It also had an informative tid-bit "The Scoop on Wombat Poop".

Imagine that!!! Cube shaped poop.:eek::rolleyes:

Have a nice rest of the day everyone.

Yes it is glass, and you're right, it's a product of Holland. I'd had the idea they were owned in Holland but made in England.
I haven't tasted it since 1976, so I don't know that I'll be able to tell a difference. I used to eat it mostly on doner kebabs, which I probably haven't had since 1976 either.

It's good on hot dogs.

So much to comment on in this post, Ed. :D
No suckers for a CAT scan or a fang cleaning?
That Ranger Rick looks like good reading. I really wanna know about the secret lives of horseshoe crabs, I'll bet it's just scandalous!
Why would I in particular like the "special camping section"?
Now I know that Wombat intestines work like the play-doh fun-factory! :D

Don't worry Rachel. I'm gonna have a stern talk with them about the lack of suckers!!
Horseshoe crabs are scandalous Rachel. They run naked on the beach in broad daylight.
You say in your Signature Line - "I camp above the rock line" so I thought you'd be interested:D
I'll let the "play-doh factory line rest - too much temptation to make a snappy joke:rolleyes:

Oh right, I forgot about the signature line.:thumbsup:

I had a fun day opening packages! After @5K Qs passed on the "page 1500 lambsfoot giveaway" prize, and Jack must have been confused and sent 1500 lamb related gifts. (and a few other things I can't show in this thread)

Hello Guardians ! :)

Well, it seems Mother Nature is not pleased  with us this week .

Last Friday a tick was found feasting on my wife’s blood. A good friend of us and family doctor right away prescribed an antibiotic as lyme disease is becoming a real problem in this area.

And then last Monday, during our walk, I felt a sharp sting suddenly on my neck. My wife checked and a spider had just bit me

I hope I don’t get chewed up by rabid chipmunks next

I hope you’re feeling better every day my friend!
Working on it, my friend!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank, Jack. :)
The last phase of the remodel starts today. They estimate 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Until then, my kitchen, dining room, and office are temporarily in the garage. My bedroom is still set up too, so we have a place to sleep. Other than that we will be living primitive for a while. It should be fun. :D

It aught to be nice when finished!! Is that a genuine JohnDF saddle back there?:D:thumbsup:
Black Jack, my 2018 Guardians ebony lambsfoot SFO, is my lambsfoot this week:

Your 'Black Jack' by Jack Black is looking extraordinary, Gary!!

Our 13 y/o daughter was one of the junior string players invited to play with a professional chamber orchestra in Ottawa. They played the Holberg Suite by Grieg.
Here is my ebony lambsfoot posing besides the ebony fingerboard in my daughter's violin.

That is awsome, Dan, Congratulations to her and your whole family!! Her success reflects greatly on her upbringing!

Old picture of the Rosewood Lamb for comparison...

Looks good to me, John! I like a smooth, thin single blade!;)
. I've perhaps posted about my pup, Saxon, maybe even one too many times. He was my best bud and I love him dearly
My most sincere condolences on the loss of Saxon, it's always hard to lose your running buddy!

Thanks, Jer. It is unique of the three. Here's another photo showing more of how the wood splits to form the handle. Let us know how the bread project turns out.

The last time I carried my ebony 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot, halfway through a pleasant evenings imbibing, I took a fresh bottle of fine Irish whiskey out of the box to find this...

l5Ju3HA.jpg

So much for the security tag! o_O Not the first time this has happened, and in the past I've managed to get them off with the help of a Leatherman, but this was one darn stubborn tag, I had to use a hacksaw in the end! Fellers have got out of Long Kesh easier!

Good thing it wasn't an emergency! Ain't nobody got time for that!:D
Good Morning Guardians.

I opted to carry one of my very favorites today, I don't think I have a better "Autumn" knife.

Thanks, I don't have any Lambsfoot safe queens; they like to be used. You have a good weekend, too!
