Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

You know a really interesting experiment would be to see if those birds have begun to associate your lambsfoot knives with food.

:D

Yip. Your right. I'd rather drink water. :D
The Barley Wine was 'ok', but I wouldn't buy it again and it wasn't worth the price I paid for it.

You're a cheap date mate ;) :D

Still are in our house.

Did they come wrapped in paper? :) Apparently oranges/tangerines/clementines have a very long traditional association with Christmas. When I was a kid, we'd get an apple, an orange, and a new penny in our stockings, but I don't know if that was just a local tradition

Don't remind me...
After a couple of weeks vacation, this feels very Monday-ish.

I'm sure it's hit a lot of folks like a ton of bricks! There certainly wasn't much work getting done in my dental surgery o_O I phoned half a dozen times without success, went into the office to find the 2 thick-as-two-short-planks receptionists sat there gawping at Facebook on their personal phones. The dentist had actually left the practice, and I couldn't get an appointment to see the new one for over a week  I really need to find another dentist o_O

Good Morning Guardians

She's a looker John :)

The three things that I try to practice for blade shaving; Technique, technique, and technique. I no longer use a straight razor because I don't believe in self sacrifice :eek: . However, the single and double blade razors I own and use still offer plenty of blood letting opportunities :D.

Having seen the blood-letting in The Four Feathers, I make sure I just stick to the one ;) :D

Or is it too early for French puns?

No I've not seen that in a while, but I remember when they did. These were just a box from Morrisons.
I also recall my dad telling me they used to get oranges/tangerines at Christmas so it must of been a tradition in Lancashire to.

Here in south Texas I remember getting oranges--maybe apples, too--and nuts (walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, filberts, almonds)

Such a cool old Lambsfoot.:thumbsup:
Thank you John. Holding history in your hand is a great feeling. Nice plate of goodness.

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Your Hartshead has a lovely view. Sorry that you’re still experiencing dental vexations. Here’s to a quick resolution.

donn donn - Thank you David. An excellent aerial still life image. Nicely lit.

I have had a heap of dental work done, most of it years ago through neglect. And one of the most important people you must have in your life, is a really good dentist that you have the utmost faith and trust in. Go and get someone who comes highly recommended my friend.

You know a really interesting experiment would be to see if those birds have begun to associate your lambsfoot knives with food.

In the beginning it took longer for them to come to my hand if I was holding the knife as well.
It was evident as they would just fly over to my wife's and kids hands and I had to wait longer for my chance.
They soon seemed to get over it and started coming to me with no issues.
Then I developed my premium secret line of bird feed LOL :D and now they mob us. This video was taken on a super cold day in which they were acting extra bold ...almost frantic.
I guess they needed the extra calories :) to survive.
In the middle of summer is hard sometimes to even get the chance to feed one or two (if you are lucky).

Hey guardians, I have had good intentions to pop into this amazing thread but for some reason I've been sidetracked, even though this one has occupied my pocket for sometime:)

Not sure if it's been mentioned here or if anyone has any info, but I haven't seen Dave (dc50) on the trad forum for sometimeo_O don't want to sidetrack this thread, so if there's info please reach out to me privately:thumbsup:

Great video, Dan! Those little guys can lose half their body weight overnight, during a cold winter. I don't like to miss a day filling my feeders in the winter time.

When I was a boy, tangerines were very traditional here at Christmas, not so much now. Quality photo Bill

Ouch, Jack! You have my sympathy there! I had a bad year in that regard as well. Cracked an implant and two crowns (three separate events). The last crown that cracked didn't leave enough tooth behind to rebuild, so they had to extract. Left a bit behind, and had to have oral surgery to remove it. They'll be finishing the implant in a couple weeks.
OUCH! Between you and Jack, my teeth now hurt!

We keep 4 feeders going in the winter, and we have found they have discerning palates...demanding the nut and fruit type, no millet alliwed!

Out today, taking the Cocker Spaniel in to the groomer and to the Drs appointment.

It's traditional on both sides of the Pond :) There are various theories as to why :) Nuts are very traditional at Christmas here too, but I don't recall ever getting any in my stocking. It seems that nuts as part of celebrations goes back at least to Roman times

I had the same dentist for 35 years, and he had the same dental nurse for most of that time (a lovely woman who could remember the names of all my kids). I was very sad when he retired (even though the trek over to see him in a different town was not easy), and bought him a good bottle of malt whisky, and a basket of Yorkshire soaps for his nurse. I've had no great recommendations for local dentists, but a few folks gave passable ones to the place at the bottom of the road. It has been taken over since I joined though, and gone into tail-spin. Fortunately I've only had to go in a couple of times. I'm going to try and find another, but it doesn't seem to be easy here anymore :(

Sorry Dennis! Thank you for the kind words my friend :) I hope your day went OK, it's always good to see your uniquely patinaed '19 :)

Morning Guardians, yesterday was full of minor disasters for me, nothing seemed to go right  It started off in the morning, when this monstrosity got dumped on my ordinarily quiet residential street, directly opposite my house and front garden! They've also coned off an area even bigger than the container o_O

lsChxNr.jpg

Turns out they are re-surfacing my road, and the adjacent road, which they started on several months ago. But at their current rate of progress, it could take more than a year o_O They have just let 'the Cat out of the bag' for the first time, and what a racket! And they haven't even started digging up the road yet!

After my stressful day yesterday, I got home, hoping for an easier time, but I had an 'emergency' proof-reading job come in, very tedious work, which kept me up until after 1.00am o_O Hoping for a better day today  Have a good one Guardians
