Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thank you Gary, the haggis pasty was tasty! :D I would try anything at one time, less so today, but I think you might be surprised by haggis, and since a lot of folks are wary of them, vegetarian haggis are widely available, and I have to say they're quite decent. Most of the flavour in both types is predominately oats and spices. It's Burn's Night on the 25th, so don't miss out ;) :D :thumbsup:
We don't have Burns night here, but I will try to read some then. I can recite "O my luve's like a red, red rose...."

I'm usually willing to at least try almost any food, but I fear I'd draw the line at haggis, even in a pasty! :rolleyes:
We draw the line at different places. I'd eat haggis. Had some at a Scottish booth in a multi-cultural festival in San Antonio once. It may not have been totally authentic--maybe no sheep's stomach or whatever they use. But I'd love to try the real thing.
Is that one of @r8shell's brothers?? :rolleyes:
:cool::thumbsup:
My lambsfoot for this week is Man Jack, the stag "senator":

Stately Senator. :thumbsup:
The Extraordinary Adventures of Linus the Lambsfoot!

Linus has arrived to the Eastern Shore of Maryland!

cigarrodog cigarrodog took good care of him and sent him with a treat made locally - Chocolate Dipped Caramel Pretzels.

I suspect that he will get in some hunting and maybe a photo safari over the next two weeks. Today he will be an office assistant.

@Pàdruig
Good start, Fred. Looking forward to your posts.

Good choice John :)

They got the digger out of the container at 9.00am and put it back in at 2.00pm I've been past the work site twice, and both times nobody was working, just sat reading newspapers in their cabin. Now they've packed in for the day. At this rate, it'll be six months before they even get to my street! :mad:

Thank you very much my friend :) :thumbsup:

Cool pic :cool: :thumbsup:

That looks exciting Kevin, nice one :cool: Thanks pal :) :thumbsup:

I received this book as a Christmas gift from Geoff Tweedale :) Some great pics of Stan and his work :thumbsup:

What a great gift Jack! - its a pity the knife on the Cover didn't come with it!

Very good Vince :) I thought Burns Night was international? I sometimes go out for a curry and have Indian Burns Night, but I like the whole haggis, neeps, and tatties thing ;) I've never been to one of those organised piping the pudding carry-ons though. I had this feller round one year, but he's moved down south now, don't see him so often. He does have a Lambsfoot though. I gave it to him with his first volume of Burns :thumbsup: Looks like he's in somebody else's kitchen here! :D :thumbsup:

Is there for honest Poverty
That hings his head, an’ a’ that;
The coward-slave, we pass him by,
We dare be poor for a’ that!
For a’ that, an’ a’ that.
Our toils obscure an’ a’ that,
The rank is but the guinea’s stamp,
The Man’s the gowd for a’ that.

What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey, an’ a that;
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine;
A Man’s a Man for a’ that:
For a’ that, and a’ that,
Their tinsel show, an’ a’ that;
The honest man, tho’ e’er sae poor,
Is king o’ men for a’ that.

Ye see yon birkie ca’d a lord,
Wha struts, an’ stares, an’ a’ that,
Tho’ hundreds worship at his word,
He’s but a coof for a’ that.
For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
His ribband, star, an’ a’ that,
The man o’ independent mind,
He looks an’ laughs at a’ that.

A Prince can mak a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, an’ a’ that!
But an honest man’s aboon his might –
Guid faith, he mauna fa’ that!
For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
Their dignities, an’ a’ that,
The pith o’ Sense an’ pride o’ Worth
Are higher rank than a’ that.

Then let us pray that come it may,
As come it will for a’ that,
That Sense and Worth, o’er a’ the earth
Shall bear the gree an’ a’ that.
For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
It’s comin yet for a’ that,
That Man to Man the warld o’er
Shall brithers be for a’ that.

Thanks Duncan, I was really pleased with it - even without the knife! :D :) :thumbsup:

Careful Dan, or they'll start following you home ;)
I would not be surprised at the rate we are going Mike :D

Great video, Dan! Those little guys can lose half their body weight overnight, during a cold winter. I don't like to miss a day filling my feeders in the winter time.
Gracias Gary !
That explains how eager they become on those very cold days. I added crushed peanuts and mixed nuts to the bird mix and they go crazy for it.

Wonderful video, Dan!;):thumbsup:

We keep 4 feeders going in the winter, and we have found they have discerning palates...demanding the nut and fruit type, no millet alliwed!:cool:
Thanks Denis !
Yes I agree on their discerning palates. They go "nuts" for the peanuts and mixed nuts I added to the bird seed. Somehow they know it will give them more calories.

Great video Dan! :D :thumbsup:
Thank you Jack :)

Wonderful photo, Dan! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Do you know if you always get the same chickadee, or have several individual birds been featured in your pics?
Thank you GT !
There is a great number of them at this park.
It seems to me their numbers have increased over the past few years as more folks bring them food for the winter.
Still, it must be hard to survive Canadian winters for such little creatures.

My iphone is not the best for winter pics. The glare of the snow seems to affect the camera sensors. I am afraid I am stuck in this mode for the next few months .... oh well :)

@mitch4ging - Thank you my friend. What a gorgeous vintage like dashboard image of your Horn Lambs Foot. Keep playing with the filters. Like the gentleman in this YT Video says. All images are filtered. I get pleasure taking over where the optic engineers leave off.
Hope the visit with the Dr. goes well.

Jack Black Jack Black - Thanks Pal. The other side of the bridge image looks inviting. The other thought that crossed my mind, was it reminded me of movies where the King’s Men took poor souls to dispatch them.:eek:

I empathize with your road construction woes, Verry irritating. Hang in there. Lovely shot of your Hartshead.

@5K Qs - Thank you GT. Despite what some say:), The Senator Lambs Foot is one of my favorite patterns. Yours is very elegant.

@E40 - Here’s to your visit with Linus being as pleasant as mine was, Fred.

Good Afternoon Guardians.

With a friend @ the car wash.

The landscaping on that expansive stately home was done by Capability Brown, but I never forget that it was slavery that paid for it :thumbsdown: The estate is just up the road from me, but free access is still very limited, and if you stray from the path, you certainly will get marched off to see the Crown's man :eek:

Cool car wash pic pic Harvey, and your Albert Oates is gorgeous :) Cool doohickey too :cool: :thumbsup:

Thank you Jack. I would prefer to not get Nicked by the Crown’s Man.:eek: Cheers to you, the pint, and the Hartshead!

It's traditional on both sides of the Pond :) There are various theories as to why :) Nuts are very traditional at Christmas here too, but I don't recall ever getting any in my stocking. It seems that nuts as part of celebrations goes back at least to Roman times :thumbsup:

Thank you very much Harvey, here's that old bridge from the other side :) Your Christopher Johnson is superb :) :thumbsup:

I had the same dentist for 35 years, and he had the same dental nurse for most of that time (a lovely woman who could remember the names of all my kids). I was very sad when he retired (even though the trek over to see him in a different town was not easy), and bought him a good bottle of malt whisky, and a basket of Yorkshire soaps for his nurse. I've had no great recommendations for local dentists, but a few folks gave passable ones to the place at the bottom of the road. It has been taken over since I joined though, and gone into tail-spin. Fortunately I've only had to go in a couple of times. I'm going to try and find another, but it doesn't seem to be easy here anymore :( :thumbsup:

Well done John :thumbsup: Sorry to hear about your stressful day my friend, hope you enjoyed your beer :thumbsup:

Great video Dan! :D :thumbsup:

Good to see you, and that fab Lambsfoot, here Paul :) No word on Dave I'm afraid, I'm very concerned :( :thumbsup:

Very thoughtful Gary :thumbsup:

Sorry Dennis! :eek: Thank you for the kind words my friend :) I hope your day went OK, it's always good to see your uniquely patinaed '19 :) :thumbsup:

Morning Guardians, yesterday was full of minor disasters for me, nothing seemed to go right :rolleyes: It started off in the morning, when this monstrosity got dumped on my ordinarily quiet residential street, directly opposite my house and front garden! :eek: They've also coned off an area even bigger than the container o_O

lsChxNr.jpg

Turns out they are re-surfacing my road, and the adjacent road, which they started on several months ago. But at their current rate of progress, it could take more than a year o_O They have just let 'the Cat out of the bag' for the first time, and what a racket! And they haven't even started digging up the road yet! :mad:

After my stressful day yesterday, I got home, hoping for an easier time, but I had an 'emergency' proof-reading job come in, very tedious work, which kept me up until after 1.00am o_O Hoping for a better day today :rolleyes: Have a good one Guardians :thumbsup:

I like you had the same dentist for 30 years, when he retired i was lucky, he put me on to a dentist that he had really high regard for. Sometimes you are just lucky.
