Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'd buy one, and thanks Jack. I have a question to put before you...View attachment 1266902
Is the above blade good to be hafted after heat treat and called a lambsfoot? I've been so inspired by others projects I had to do one. I had originally forged this into a spear point and had it on a friction folder. And are lambsfoots allowed to be friction folders?
If it's no good I'll edit it out and whatnot. Thanks guys.
Edit: just saw you aren't feeling well Jack Black Jack Black I'd finish that night cap and maybe have 2 or 3 more and hit the sack, hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

it was all for naught... Cracked the blade near the ricasso on heat treat. Gotta start from scratch when I get a chance to crank up the forge. ☹️

Sorry to hear that didn't work out Willie. The Lambsfoot blade does come as a friction folder, though not a common one. It's one of the variants of the Sheldon Knife

Here's the Lambsfoot blade from one of those.

I'm finishing out the week with the Ebony Big-un. I'd better switch it up next week, the rest of the flock is getting jealous. ;)

Nice to see you're enjoying the Big 'Un Rachel

I was buying comics in the 1960's to early 1970's, when Stan Lee wrote Spider-Man, and most of the Marvel comics, it seems. In the early '70's they started reprinting the Spider-Man series in a book called Marvel Tales. I don't know if they reprinted any other series. Spider-Man was the most popular. In the early '70's you could still pick up old comics at used bookstores for pennies. Not like it is now. Every one in a plastic bag and overpriced. Comics were better then, and written mostly for young people. Family friendly, like the Porch. Too much weirdness out there now.

When I started buying US comics in the the mid to late 60's, they were often from the early 60's. Later, in the early 70's, they produced British editions of Spiderman, the Hulk, and a few other US superheroes, reprinting the stories from the beginning, but mostly with monotone colours. Even the US imports were cheap though, they've priced kids out of the market today. I stayed with someone in London about 30 years ago, and he said, "I heard you're into comics, would you like to see some?" He had this incredible collection, all sealed against the air, they were just an 'investment' for him o_O

I hope you have a good night and feel much better tomorrow, Jack.

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Hope you feel better quickly.

Thanks a lot for your kind words fellers, I'm touched, I've just been a little under the weather the past few days :)

How about an ancient weapon and a good blaster? It goes without saying that the lambsfoot is nearby.

Thanks for the compliments on my pics. The "stone" to which you refer is the top of a hand pump (you can see the spout to the left) attached to the "fish cleaning table" on the dock at the cottage rental place we stay each summer for a week or two
Ok, boy, I missed that one bigtime! I use to have a metate I found out in the hills in NM, I'll have to see if my folks still have it back home.
Makes one wonder who's guarding whom! ;)

Thanks a lot Dennis :) I was never that into the Fantastic Four, but you're right, 'It's Clobbering Time!' was definitely the best battle-cry :D  Dennis the Menace has always been my favourite super-hero ;) That looks like a scrumptios scone my friend, great pic with your Hartshead Barlow :)

The last time my 88-year-old dad came to visit, he insisted on riding the cart, and backing up as much as possible, just to make the incredibly loud I'M BACKING UP BEEP! BEEP! noise. Yes, he can walk, but wanted to prove he could still embarrass his middle aged daughter. :D

Haha! I like your dad. :)

I'll even take the religion.

Everything you need for a visit to any wretched hive of scum and villainy. :)

That's good mate, hope you have a decent walk. I'm hoping to get out around Knaresborough, but it's likely to be muddy with all the rain of the last 24 hours

Aye it was absolute quagmire on the moors in places but a good day out all the same.:)
Hope you enjoyed Knaresborough.

Thanks for the info Jack, I'll definitely be trying again, gotta go friction folder due to my lack of tools.

A Standard Lambfoot that ran afoul of a pair of Channel Locks, a fan belt, and a hay mowing machine.

Pretty rough.

Pieces squished and squeezed together.

First bandage electrician's tape.

Final bandages

The knife is still a user. Solid and ready to go.

One day somebody is going to find that and wonder, "If knives could speak, what stories would this one tell?"

It's game day!

Blimey Ed! At least the blade is OK :) Have you thought about sticking some epoxy in that crack?

One day somebody is going to find that and wonder, "If knives could speak, what stories would this one tell?"

For sure! :D

Have to say, you fellers who are trying to mod Lambsfoot blades out of a perfectly good Sheepsfoot seem to be going a hard way about things. There's more to a traditional Lambsfoot than the blade, and getting hold of one isn't that hard, or that expensive

That knife must have been used prior to the invention of electrical tape. o_O

Ain't that the truth. I could barely stand to reprofile the edge on my Wright's. Reshape a sheepsfoot into a lambsfoot? More trouble than it's worth...

Besides, no need to waste steel. All sheepsfoot knives become lambsfoot blades eventually.
