Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Happy hump-day guardians!

It might just be my eyes or the light, but the horn appears to be getting lighter to me on this one

You may notice I removed some material from the tang where the stamp is/was. The tang was crooked and was pushing the middle liner over, crowding the secondary blade.

The issues my knife came with must be the exception. Perhaps my knife is a second, or is from a long ago production run. Current two bladers may all be better knives. The example my friend recieved, same model, was entirely free of functional issues. :thumbsup:

The edge bevels on both of mine are slightly wonky as well, but both were able to be straightened out pretty well at the edge. Not as pronounced as yours though.

For the record, I have to say that Wright's have always been pretty good at replacing defective knives in my experience, without wishing to know their history.

I am very attached to this knife Jack, It works well now :thumbsup:, and I love the pattern.
I'll be getting more some time in case I lose or damage this one, and as gifts to nephews etc. This is a great knife! The problems I had with the knife I recieved didn't stop me from seeing everything that is good about it.

I look forward to hearing any information you get about these two bladers, from your next visit to Wright's. Give my best to the boys there. :)

Is the blade itself actually straight? I have to say, I'm finding this disturbing o_O I think I have had about 20 knives off them personally, over the past five years or so, with a lot more bought for other folks, and while I've seen a few rough ones a few years back, with a lot of gaps for example, I think the worst I've had is some poor stag on the one example. All the ones I've had have sharpened up OK certainly, and with no real difficulty :confused:

Well that's good to hear my friend, I sure wish you hadn't had these problems with it though. I am glad you like the pattern itself. I will have to ask about the two-bladers, I'm not sure Wright's even produce that many of them. I bought one for a friend here, and his dad took such a shine to it, I sent him a standard one over, and told him to let his dad keep it. As I may have said, that one had some cant, but I'm not aware of any other issues with it. I'm going to try and get over next week, so I'll buy the fellers there another big box of 'posh' biscuits from the Guardians ;) :thumbsup:

Yes, no real difficulty to sharpen at all on mine. There are no gaps or other issues with either of mine.

The plunge grinds are quite off center on my small example that I'm carrying today. The Mark side is almost at the tang (very shallow plunge) while the pile side is about at the halfway point of the stock. When you look at the edge of the blade (looking at the cutting edge directly with the spine in line behind it) you can see what appears to be slight warping, but i think its just ground like that.

So I have a flair at the tang and a few low spots on the edge in my secondary bevel.

I want to stress that these are minor issues on mine and don't detract from the knife in my opinion. And I certainly wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from purchasing one based on this.

That's something at least! :D Thank you for the further details. I have certainly had this too. I think the edges are put on relatively quickly at the factory, with not a great deal of attention given to them. Like yourself, this hasn't been a problem for me, I've not really expected a great factory edge, and in fact I've been pleasantly surprised by the ones I've had recently, particularly on the Guardians SFO, but I think it's something to be born in mind :thumbsup:

Thanks , Those colors are from cutting steak. I don't know if it is the garlic or just the meat.

Thanks, Jack. They did a real nice job on this one. The patina forms on the polished blades a lot faster and with more "pop" than the belt finished blades, in my experience.
