Yes indeedI do think things have changed, at one time, here at least, it was considered outrageous to have uncovered table legs!

I've been noticing the sky without any airplane trails, which I hadn't seen since 9/11.I wondered the same here Rachel. I find it particularly strange with the way some European Robins migrate and some choose not toHere, the levels of road traffic are more or less back to normal, and the birds seem to have become more wary and less bold again, which I rather miss. Terrible though this whole business is, there were aspects of the early lockdown days I liked, seeing the streets and roads empty, breathing cleaner air, and if you saw someone, they'd wave to you from the other side of the road, and ask how you were doing
Good Morning Guardians, another SundayHere in Yorkshire, we have had an almost unprecedented run of good weather over the past couple of months, it has been sunny virtually every day, a shame most of us haven't been able to go anywhere and enjoy it, but it has at least allowed those with gardens to sit out in them. A lot of stuff due to re-open tomorrow, pretty confusing about what will and what won't, nobody seems to know
Hope everyone is staying safe and well, and that you have a relaxing and enjoyable Sunday

Good morning y’all! I’ve been busy again this weekend working outside. Yesterday was a beautiful day. Temps around 80 and low humidity with a gentle breeze blowing all day! I’m carrying my stag big’un this weekend! Hope y’all have a safe and blessed weekend!![]()

I don't know if he has a Lambsfoot knife, but I'd like to nominateTexoma . We had a very nice exchange over DM, and he was generous, thoughtful, and creative. I think he would be an excellent choice to receive a lambsfoot, if he meets the qualifications.
I have missed him also. Was wondering about what happened with him?
I’ll ask him and report back; thanks Jack.Sounds nice Ron, that's some impressive patina![]()
Good-looking ebony John
He has enough posts on The Porch to qualify Joshua, but you'd need to find out if he has a Lambsfoot knife already (or maybe he will see this)
It's sad Bill, people stop posting for a number of reasons, even absolute mainstays of The Porch, who you think will always be around. Sometimes they come back, mostly they don'tI hope @Cambertree does

So...did they put pants on them? Special table stockings?

It's very confusing here. We have conflicting pronouncements coming from the city, county, and state authorities. The state governor says that his orders supersede, and local orders are only advisements and can't be enforced. Meanwhile, private businesses and schools are establishing their own safety procedures.
All that seems moot now, as social distancing can't be maintained during all the protests and rioting...
Please stay safe, everyone.

As for the origins of this “common knowledge” historical myth, it seems to have come from a 1839 travelog by a writer and officer in the British Navy, Captain Frederick Marryat.
In his book A Diary in America, which recounts Marryat’s experiences traveling through the young country, the naval officer appears to have invented the legend without even trying. The idea seems to have stemmed from an anecdote wherein a young woman Marryat was traveling with scraped her knee while visiting Niagara Falls. When Marryat asked if her “leg” was okay, she was apparently scandalized, replying that a gentleman only refers to “limbs” in the presence of a lady, and never “legs,” even when talking about furniture.
I’ll ask him and report back; thanks Jack.

It might be that if those Robins could talk, some would have different accents David, some might have Russian or Swedish accents.

I was disappointed they didn’t have the Imperial Stout when I stocked up, and annoyed when I checked their app later that same day — it’s a big chain liquor store, so they have an app— and it showed it was in stock.
Speaking of Imperial Stouts, just before we moved from AZ to MN, I found this single can of Oskar Blues’ Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) in the back of the fridge. At that point it had been a few years since I’d had any (so it had been back there a while), but I remember it being quite good, so I went ahead and packed it in the cooler with all the other beer I‘d be hauling across the country. Well now it’s been a couple more years, and it’s still in the fridge. I wouldn’t say I’m afraid to drink it, but I do wonder if it’ll be any good at this point.

Check out that “canned on” date.![]()

I guess at 10.5% it might have better chance of being drinkable (even enjoyable) than most beers after 7 years. I suppose there’s only one way to find out…![]()
Tonight, though, it’s the Samuel Smith’s Yorkshire Stingo.

I miss him, too. I just hope that he’s OK and that the reason for his absence is a happy one.
Perhaps he’s fully engrossed in bringing his Lambshank to commercial production. Man, wouldn’t that be a nice surprise! After we all chastised him—in fun, of course!—for having us worry about him we could all use the Gaurdians-only special order form to jump to the head of the ordering queue.
@Cambertree, I hope you are out there somewhere and thriving, buddy. Looking forward to you checking in one day.![]()
Joshua I really appreciate you nominating me but I don’t think I qualify. I don’t own a lambsfoot from Sheffield, Joesph Rodgers or other from the UK but I still have one of Charlie’s in my safe. I can’t get myself to use it because it’s so nice, maybe one day.
You've just reminded me of something I heard a few years ago. Apparently birds (at least in the UK) have regional accents.

Cheers Jack.
I hope you didn't get any of that cherry ale on your carpet.
I hope everyone's having got a decent Sunday planned.

Skirts.So...did they put pants on them? Special table stockings?
Jack Black - A sunny garden, with your thoughts and your favorite libation, sounds like a wonderful way to while away the time over the weekend. We are definitely “living in interesting times.”
When times become chaotic, I find a measure of inspiration from this poem. The last line applies to Woman and Men, equally. “We’re all in this together.”

Strangely, as a tiny tot I was terrified of chairs or Ottomans with skirts. Of course I grew up in a haunted house, so who knows what I saw and didn't remember.
I particularly like Edgar Rice Burroughs works. You Lambfoot is particularly nice tooYou've just reminded me of something I heard a few years ago. Apparently birds (at least in the UK) have regional accents.

Oh I'd drink that Imperial Stout. At that strength it should last for ages, and you'd easily know if it was off as soon as you popped the can.
Cheers Jack.

My favourite Kipling poem is The Betrothed.I had to memorize that poem in the 8th grade. While I no longer can recite it from memory, its opening lines still pop into my head from time to time. It's been many, many years since I've read it in full, but I did today. I'm not sure that my 13-year-old self appreciated--or was even capable of appreciating--what a powerful poem it is and what a magnificent ideal it sets forth as a template for being a good human being. But, I get it now. It's beautiful.
Thank you Harvey. I needed that.
