Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hope you can shake it off Greg

Nice picture Greg! Was the peeling of the ginger an ingredient to aid in the reduction of your cold? Hope your felling better soon.

Thank you, Gentlemen. The chunk of ginger went into a mug of hot water and helped sooth my throat. I chewed it later as a spicy treat. Whether it makes the cold go away any quicker, I don’t know, but it did make me feel a bit better. :)

A few from the way back machine. Have a great weekend Guardians.

It looks like the rain may finally leave town for a couple of days. :) This little Sambar Lambsfoot will be part of my carries today. Hope y’all have a blessed day. :D

Just been catching up after missing a couple of pages. These photos are great! I don't know how much longer I can hold out against the lambsfoot temptation.

Thanks Jack, another one from the archives as I await the return of my Lambsfoot. I also like the picture you posted today  Very interesting ring, I can make out the word “penny” and the image of a hand holding a trident. What’s its origin?

Hope you get it back soon my friend :) Thanks, I don't wear rings, and this one is too small for me anyway, but I met a feller who makes them, and couldn't resist buying the one he had. It is made from an old British Penny, how he makes them I have no idea, there is no join, but there is writing from one side of the penny on the outside, and from the other side on the inside

ah the notorious double sided coin ring. I remember when I spent weeks trying to solve that one. The secret is a hydraulic press. I also spent time hammering coins around a mandrel and annealing them to no avail. My father, who is a professional tried to explain as nice as possible that it wasnt going to be done in one go. In fact we bought all the equipment to try, (a nylon hammer, and a leather mallet). I tried it, and he tried it on a 64 kennedy which is silver. I ended up doing this first as a proof of concept https://imgur.com/a/Vhdf5 and eventually this later down the line. https://imgur.com/02U1iTr,2u2ejHJ,p...oBxQu,KwWzFkQ,Muidgf2,BswbvNg,bjJavNd,l6lyUdS

Thanks for the info Jack, the guy mentioned a press - it meant very little to me I'm afraid! :D

haha not at all. for some it becomes a test of skill, like when I made these little things https://imgur.com/a/KRci2

By chance, I bumped into the guy at lunchtime today Jack, and bought two more of the rings. They're pretty small, barely pinky size, but I'll send one over for you to have a play with at some point

neat! I appreciate that Jack Black, thanks! As a coin collector, ive always loved uk coins but for the sake of me can never figure it out. As a former colonist, uk money's history is unique. Still trying to work out pre/post decimalization.

A pleasure my friend. I didn't know you collected coins. I used to send a lot across the pond, but the shop I used to buy them from has closed down. I am sure I can find a few for you though. I have a knife with the pre/post decimalisation conversions on the scales...but it is not a Lambsfoot :(

Cool! Ill have to dig that up some day. Coin collecting is one of the smaller hobbies of mine that I rotate in between. Phases, definitely, always changing.

Just a Richards Bart, but I have certainly posted pics before, including in this post here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ifactured-knives.1537371/page-2#post-17662636
Thanks, Jack. I have often wondered how folks dealt with the conversion, having tried to figure out old money when I find it in readings. I have a Ascensions of the Kings and Queens/Historian's penknife that was no doubt used by school children as a reference in the days before mobiles.

I was 10 when the change came, so having learned one system, I then had to learn another o_O I can still convert in an instant, and count in 'old money', but it has no practical use other than winning me kudos with the old folks! :D I think older people probably found the change harder to deal with than the youngsters, and of course everything doubled in price overnight, just as it did when many other European countries switched to the Euro. That sounds like a cool penknife my friend :) Maybe we need a Lambsfoot with a scale - say for converting the BF pull-scale to a Lambsfoot pull-scale! :D ;)

its the old sherlock holmes novels for me that made me want to get into crowns, sovereigns, half crowns and half sovereigns. Although her majesty did lay claim to hong kong up until 97, we were mostly spared the change in the money. They use the hong kong dollar there, but old lizzy up until 97 still graced the coins with her image.
