I preferred Huck Finn Vince, but I found it strange that I enjoyed it as a young child, though I could remember it quite clearly. I've never read A Connecticut Yankee, but absolutely loved the Danny Kaye film as a kid!

I believe the Danny Kaye film is called The Court Jester. I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry Vince, I'm getting it confused with the Bing Crosbie film. I first saw them both as a kid - in black & white, as they were on TV (we didn't get colour here until the early 70's)!

I googled it and it wasn't Danny Kaye at all, but I think it was Mr Terrific. Stanley Beamish worked at a gas station.
