Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hey Jack and fellow Guardians! Great pics of your HHB, Jack!
I went to the Tire shop today and had a blast from the past- this vintage soda machine and gumball machines. There is an Ironwood 2019 LF in the pic. ;)

That brings back some nice memories, Mark. My grandpa owned a couple tire shops in Little Rock and Fayetteville, AR, as well as a tire distribution company, when I was a kid. My dad worked for/with him for many years, first in the tire business, and later running an RV dealership. My uncle also owned a tire shop in Springdale, AR, where I worked for a summer in high school. I don't remember my grandpa's tire shops much, but my uncle's place definitely had that exact same candy/gumball machine in the waiting area, and a coke machine that I think was about the same vintage as the one in your photo. 🙂

Here's an old newspaper clipping with a photo of my dad "working" at the tire shop in Little Rock.

...and hoping we can get through the day without yet another downpour.

Sorry to hear about the weather, Jack, but at least it sounds like your neighbor's garden probably hasn't needed much watering. 😉 🙂

Nice photo, I hope the day has warmed up by now :) We had a chilly start, then it turned into a nice, sunny morning, and then it went cold again, and rained

Good afternoon Guardians, I'm back from having a good laugh down at my local market :D There are quite a selection of characters down there, and since 4 of us were wearing red shirts, we got a photo taken! :D

Great photo, Jack! Does that T-shirt help out with social distancing? 😉 😁

Sorry about you postal woes, Jack. Great shirt you have there!!
Starting a new Deck; Ironwood 2019 to help out. It's almost Friday, have a good one friends!

I'm trying not to think about how much that lumber cost. 😳

I'm afraid I haven't been a very good Guardian lately. It's been while since I've carried a Lambsfoot, so a recycled photo will have to do again for today. (I have, however, added a few new members to the map in the last couple weeks, so I haven't been completely slacking. 😁) Here's a couple that I don't think I've actually posted in this thread before, from the DIY whisk(e)y advent calendar I did in the Beverages & Blades thread back in December.

That looks like a fun time, Jack. I didn't know a shirt like that was UK legal. 🤔;)

Speaking of tires...A friend of mine lent me a pole magnet to clean up after the roofers. I haven't gone all around the house yet, just wanted to clear the front area by the driveway. 🤬

Here’s my humble offering, and request for membership.

It was sold as “J. Adams”, but the tang stamp only reads “Made in Sheffield”. The wood is supposed to be walnut. It came very sharp, with a centered blade, no play, and strong snap.

The point was barely proud of the handle so I took a DMT stone to the kick. It’s just tucked in now so it won’t cut a finger.

Welcome!

So nice to see the first picture of friends being able to once again get together without masks and all
Cheers :)
Thanks Dan, Billy, the old feller on my right, is in his late 70's, and when we first went into lockdown last year, I was worried I might not see him again. The average age of the tool-stall regulars is probably over 70, but thankfully, they are all still with us :)

Thank you very much Mark :) Looks like you have your work cut out there my friend, I hope it all goes well  I have a neighbour who is building a garden workshop, and is having 4 tons of concrete poured tomorrow - but it's now forecasting heavy rain!:rolleyes:👍

That's a great photo of your dad Barrett! :D :)

You're right Barrett, I haven't had to water my neighbour's garden once yet, I'm wondering if they have jinxed us! :D ;)

Thanks buddy, I've certainly had a few wary looks while wearing that T-shirt! :D Not as much as with the 'Mountjoy Day Release Scheme' one I had a few years back! :D ;)

I don't know if it's the same there, but here, the cost of lumber has really gone up over the past year, though that's also true of just about everything

Great photos Barrett :) It's always good when you call in, and thanks for your ongoing dedication to the Guardians map my friend :) Hope you'll get to carry a Lambsfoot again soon ;)

Thanks Rachel, it was a good day :) I was once at home, and answered the door to a couple of policemen who were enquiring about someone feeding pigeons in the area (still ongoing several years later). As I opened the door, the first one had the cheek to comment on the T-shirt I was wearing (which had actually been given to me by another policeman). I said, "Who are you, the Fashion Police?!" Feller didn't seem to have much of a sense of humour  ;)

That pole magnet is a good idea, but what a collection!

Welcome to the Guardians AntDog AntDog That looks like a decent start :) Jack Adams don't actually make folders themselves, buying them from Wright's. Based on the small sample shown here recently, they either have old stock, or better QC . I hope you get to like the pattern :)
Thank you all. Yes, I’m thinking the wood needs a little “moisturizing”. A buddy sent me some tung oil mixed with beeswax that should shine it up. 🤝 👍
It does look like it would benefit from 'moisturizing' doesn't it? I'm sure it'll come up looking nice :)

Happy Thursday crew!
That's ageing really nicely Taylor :)
Beautiful photo Ken :)

Good morning Guardians, heavy rain stopped my plans to go to the pub yesterday unfortunately, but I had a nice meal at home anyway :) More rain forecast for the weekend, so I don't think I'm going to be getting my Saturday hike in :( Better weather ahead though hopefully ;) Carrying my Hartshead Barlow again today :) Have a good Friday Guardians

HHB looking good Jack:thumbsup:. Sorry to hear about the foul weather; hopefully it'll change to something better soon:cool:.

Got my HHB out for a stroll this morning - nice and crisp out today and warming to the low 70's (deg F).

Well it’s my son’s graduation party tomorrow so things are going to be getting crazy around here today and tomorrow. My wife said she wasn’t going to stress out about it...she’s stressing out about it!😂
She and her friends are decorating our house today, glad I’m at work!😁
I’ll be on yard duty this afternoon, already put up a new mailbox yesterday because we can’t have a party with an old mailbox.😳 Took this picture this morning but it was in my pocket helping with the mailbox last night. 😉👍2016C823-3196-464E-B82D-059D5A1A2B25.jpeg
