That wood has really darkened a lot hasn't it Taylor?
Nice to see that one Dwight, and you, of course, my friend :)

Hope everyone is having a fab Thursday :) I had a long shift in the market today, picked up a few bits and pieces, ate greedily, and generally had some good crack* (an old Yorkshire word) :) Rosewood Big 'Un was on cake-cutting duty! ;) :D

* Apart from nearly being killed while crossing the road this morning, had to actually leap out of the way, on a pedestrian crossing because of a speeding truck trying to run the lights!

That sounds like a close one! Glad you have quick reflexes Jack. 😳

We're glad you were spry enough to spring to safety, Jack!

I'm just getting ready to do some work today....

Thanks Barry, I hope I'm still feeling spry tomorrow, it was a pretty dramatic leap for an old feller! It's great to see you here my friend, hope you're keeping well :) Nice set of tools there ;) :)

It's certainly the closest I've ever come to being hit Todd, and since it was a 3-ton truck, I think I'd have come off worse! The driver was a maniac. That junction has cameras, but I think they only look at the footage in the event of a collision or if someone gets knocked down. I hope I'm wrong though, and he gets prosecuted

Got home from shopping yesterday and found this in my mailbox. Here are some pictures.559902B9-47E5-40D8-ABF5-7B9FA74B41C8.jpeg97DC59D4-4A21-492B-A337-D3D235A82D1D.jpeg40A4D05C-9CF9-44A9-9E0A-46BCA83FB1E5.jpeg641457F1-00E9-429F-9A7F-4F396955F311.jpeg3CB8B7F5-C890-4E1A-8AB8-AB746CF0C90F.jpeg
Very pleased with it, could be snappier on the close, it is more snappy then my TEW but less than the J Adams. And of course, I will need to put an edge on it because it doesn’t have one, and round off the handle. 😊

You may get a bit more snap after you have cleaned the gunk out Todd  Adams probably don't order folders that often, and I think it is likely the Lambsfoot you got from them is older stock, which is as I'd hoped! :D :)

I did give it a flush and some oil, and I think it will get better as well, it perfectly acceptable as is, just not a gator like the Adams. In your opinion Jack, what’s the best angle for the edge?

Opinions vary on the edge Todd, most of mine are sharpened to 18-20 degrees per side, but the Rosewood Big 'Un I was carrying yesterday, I have at 15 degrees per side. Greg WhittlinAway WhittlinAway prefers an even more acute angle. I have to say, I'm perfectly happy with 20 degrees, or a little less. What do you other Guardians think?

round off the handle.
That is some nice looking wood, already has some character and will age well, i have also found the scales will round off over time with carry, enjoy your new purchase.

I would go for 20 degrees, these are sturdy work knives that is there intention, as long as you get your angles to Apex on your first grit when you take it to whatever sharpening medium you are going to use, that is the key. Then progress through grits, you can get these razor sharp at 20 degrees and the edge holds up well. I have had these really toothy sharp at 240 grit, 600 grit and they are really sharp and hold up well, just get your first grit right, and it usually takes more time than you think. I used to sharpen work knives for some blokes at an abattoir, and they mostly used 20 degree bevels, because that angle holds it's edge very well. Have a good weekend.

Yup, I've got some at about 13 DPS, give or take, and have my rosewood at 15 DPS. I end up stropping them often and they get a bit of convex to the edge. I think 15 is where I'll go next time, but I'd say experiment and go with what works for you. The lambsfoot accepts all kinds. :D
