Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

No, but sure would like one of those ending up in me. :p. Looks very moreish and delish.:).

That pie was from The Raven in Bath, and it was excellent! I’ve had their standard steak and ale pie on another visit (also great), but I believe that one was called the Mexi-cow, with chili con carne, beer and cheddar. A bit unusual, but very good!

:p :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I like most sports, not all, but I find sports very interesting, etc. Why am I not interested in the Olympics this year
Not the place for an in depth discussion, but you are not on you own. Speaking with people, generally the Olympics have lost their once vice like grip on most people's attention. The halo has slipped.😇

Thanks for checking on me, Jack! 😁 We’ve had a busy summer (at least compared to how not-busy we were for the last year+) and I haven’t been on BF as much as I’d like to be, but I have tried to keep up with a few threads (including this one, of course). I’ll definitely try to throw something together for Yorkshire Day!
I didn't want you to miss it Barrett, and thought you'd be up for a culinary challenge :)
Catching up just now, I misread this post and thought I’d missed Yorkshire Day entirely! 😲
What a horrifying thought! :D ;)
Love the GAW idea, Jack!:thumbsup: 😁 Should be a lot of fun. I hope a lot of people participate!
Thanks Barrett :) Me too, I am looking forward to it :)
Thanks for the varied chip butty instructional videos. 🙂 The method they used to make the chips in the third video is the same one I used to make some English “roasties” a while back. (They were delicious!)

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d be hesitant to go to a barbershop called Sweeney Todds! 😵 Don’t want to end up in one of these…

😉😁
They were fairly random, but I did watch them all :)

LOL! :D It's a fairly common name for barber's shops here, they seem to compete to see who can have the corniest names, some examples being Lunatic Fringe, Hair Today Dye Tomorrow, Shear-Lock Combs, Julius Scissor, Grateful Dredds, Curl Up & Dye, Hair Raid Shelter, British Hairways, Jack The Clipper, Hairy Pop-Ins, Herr Kutz, etc. :D

That's a great-looking pie my friend :) I nearly over-cooked this one last night, but it was pretty darn tasty with gravy, and a dash of Henderson's, of course ;) :D

Sushi lunch date with my wife.
That looks like a feast Taylor  I haven't had sushi in ages, but there was a time my girlfriend used to insist on us having it for lunch about 3 times a week :D
I can spend hours flicking through old catalogues, they are a window to our past.
Me too mate :)

That looks like a great pub Barrett, I hope to get down to Bath when things get a bit better here :) I used to drink in a pub called The Raven in Sheffield in the 70's :)
Off to see the skin doctor this morning. Hope his knife is as sharp as my HHB! ;)

Good luck Bill, I hope everything goes well  I thought the blade on my Barlow was dragging a bit this morning, but stropping it on the side of a cardboard box made things right again :D My door-bell just went, and it was this new sharpening system, purchased out of curiosity and insomnia, rather than necessity, I have to admit  ;)

I hope everyone has had a good day :) It's been down in the low 60's here today, with a little rain, but still not a bad day, and I had fun with my pals on the market ;)

I'm hoping this fine-looking chip butty will inspire a few more folks to enter my Yorkshire Day giveaway ;)

Every time I see this stall, which specialises in wedding suits you young boys, in a Yorkshire market, I try to persuade my mate to let me buy a couple for his two lads, just so we can laugh at them! :D ;)

Those are a bargain! I'll take one for my boy! lol

Dylan Pàdruig Pàdruig , that is a dram that I'm not familiar witho_O. I thought that I knew all the single malts from Islay. I'll bet that's one that will smack you right in the face - no wimps need apply! LOL😁

I'll have to see if I can hold of some here Dylan, and I will definitely look out for that Port Askaig, which looks great with your 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot

I think it's a blend Bill :) As all us Islay lovers know, there has been a shortage of Islay whiskies for some years now. I'm hoping I can track down a bottle ;)

My apologies for getting back to you fellas so late. In my absentminded state, I didn't even think to give Port Askaig a second look - part of my mind must have figured it was an Islay dram that I had not heard of or tried before. That said, your comments gave me cause to do some digging.

Port Askaig is actually a village and the outfit that curates these Islay sourced whiskies saw fit to name their efforts after it. It sounds like the outfit has aspirations of starting their own distillery in Islay but until then, they source their whiskies (some blends, some single malts) from the other rather notable Islay distilleries.

This article sheds a bit of light on their efforts: Port Askaig: Islay's Other Scotch Whisky

I find my example to be rather rich and lavish - very, very enjoyable.

Ok folks, I managed to find a prize for a Yorkshire Day giveaway. I didn't even know I had this one, it was still wrapped from the factory, probably from 3 or 4 years ago, got some nice Rosewood on it I think :)

Those Guardians who've been here a while will know that Yorkshire Day is celebrated throughout the world, and is the day when Yorkshire folk unlucky enough to have left this sun-kissed county, weep into their beer and pine for home, and where those of us blessed to live in God's Own County, whoop with joy, throw our flat-caps into the air, and sing our largely unintelligible anthem to the heavens, while downing a good Yorkshire-brewed pint! ;) I hope you'll help me celebrate, and while it isn't unique to Yorkshire, what could be better than a chip butty, or for the ambitious, a thick slab of Yorkshire pudding, smothered in rich gravy? :) This is a culinary challenge my friends, and I don't think there are going to be any losers here :D I'm posting this early, so you can look up your recipes, and get in the few provisions needed, but on Yorkshire Day, how about joining me in scoffing a chip butty or a plate of Yorkshire pud. The chip butty is certainly the easier dish to make, and maybe you can even get one made for you at a local eaterie. Yorkshire pudding is a bit of an art, and all I'll say is, MAKE SURE YOUR OVEN IS HOT! ;) Whichever option you decide to go for, a photo of the dish with your Lambsfoot is essential (if you don't have a Lambsfoot, you can post a selfie, but no non-Lamb knife content please). If you're lucky enough to already have a surfeit of Lambsfoot knives, you may nominate someone else for the prize

Yorkshire Day is August 1st, next Sunday, and you have the whole of next weekend to make your entry. Good luck to everyone who enters, and I am looking forward to seeing your photos :)

I am eagerly awaiting the day, Jack - I love Yorkshire Day (though I do tend to need reminding at times). I have all the fixings ready, though I will not be entering for myself - there are many others who could benefit from a sturdy Lambsfoot.

I had to go to the post office, so I thought I might grab a second breakfast ;) The cafe I was intending to go to was full though, so I had to go to the pub opposite, where the food isn't very good (this looks better than it tasted)

On the way back home, I spotted a new addition to the neighbourhood, in the form of this mural, all done with spray-paint by a local artist apparently. I ended up chatting to a bloke standing outside the barber's shop, and it turned out he owned the place. When the subject of the mural, Lucas Radebe, played for the local Leeds team, he used to get his hair cut there apparently

Barrett beat me to it - One should think twice before enlisting the barber's services at an establishment named Sweeney Todd's....

I had me a dram of Lagavulin 9 (GOT Edition) last night - I enjoyed it in good company.

Thank you Dylan, both for the link, and your opinion :) Hopefully, I can pick up a bottle a some point

Surely not! :D ;) That's great my friend, I know you'll put in a great effort :)

Check out the much grittier, and non-musical, 2006 version with Ray Winstone if you ever get a chance

Very nice Dylan :) I still haven't come across the 9 , but I do have an un-opened 16 ;)
Classic Jer :) Excellent pic of OTW

Stropping in the side of a Cardboard box Jack!
I know we can use a lot of things - I’ve never tried that one - I was cutting up a huge amount of boxes so I fit them all into the cardboard recycling Bin - Using my AC Stag 😊👍

The poor thing has been carried and used so much these last few weeks that after yesterday I was going to give it a sharpen up - instead I will try this out today my friend.

It was the lid of a cardboard box my mate had on his tool stall Duncan, it worked pretty well! :D

A Lambsfoot is great for cutting up cardboard isn't it? :D :) And, of course, one of the easiest to sharpen :)

was this new sharpening system,
I have watched a lot of Youtube videos and reviews of this system. I think value for money they are excellent, the high end sharpeners are prohibitive in cost. There is a work sharp video on how to use this system and on it the demonstrator shows how to use high grit sandpaper on blank stone holders, very interesting and useful information, you may want to look it up. But have a search for some of the videos, you should find them very helpful. And i want a full review of when you get to use it, i rather see actual knife users using and reviewing sharpeners rather than someone with a vested interest.
this fine-looking chip butty
That is one fine looking chip butty, there is one huge down side to our time zone difference, when ever i see these photos it is just before breakfast here, and they make me want a chip butty for breakfast, with maybe a poached egg thrown ino_O:p. Looking forward to the Guardians posts of their chip butty concoctions for " Yorky Day ".

Thanks Leon, I watched that video earlier. I think I must have watched about 20 in total, and they were overwhelmingly positive. Hoping I'll get time to give it a go tomorrow. Unfortunately, all my knives are currently already sharp! :D

Sorry mate! :D That would probably be considered a bit 'wrong', even in Yorkshire! :D
