Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I used Old Toffeewings to open a surprise package I got today from Jack Black Jack Black . There's tomorrow's breakfast sorted. Thanks, Jack!

I took these yesterday outside of our church. I was picking up a couple of boxes and saw a big limb down from a tree that overhands our parking lot. Thankfully it fell in a good spot. Pretty big limb! I don't think I'll be parking under that tree anymore. . .

Edit: by the way, I landed that part-time job!

So I did a bit of cleaning, unfortunately the previous owner glued the broken bits with something like JB Weld and left some unsightly smears that I couldn't get off. The blade is quite sharp and I don't want to bring it to a shine, I feel the knife has a lot of character as is. I did give it a good oil bath, more rust than dirt dripped out. It has a good snap but it has a slight side to side wobble. I will try to correct the wobble but I will leave the rest as is.

P.S. My eyes aren't as keen as they used to be but I believe the tang stamp is E.BLYDE on top and &Co LTD underneath.
If you can get the Wobble down to what is acceptable to you , you are going to have a Great Carry . Just having one like that in my pockets is real Feel Good thing . Carry it in good health my friend and enjoy it .

Right now , while I am on the Mend from Knee Replacement , I keep this old thing close to me when I am in my chair .

Got a new Lambsfoot in today. This one is so much better than my other one I'm sure it'll see more pocket time.

Congratulations on the job Joshua :) Wow, that's a pretty big tree limb! I live on an avenue, with a lot of trees from the 19th century, or older. Over the 20 years I've lived here, we've had a few big ones go over, but thankfully nobody has ever been hurt, or even any property damage, apart from some damage to my front fence, a rear wall, and a set of telephone wires

It's been good to see your good progress recovering from your knee operation Harry, and it's always great to see your trusty TEW
Just browsing the forum and noticed the Guardians nearly getting relegated to page 2, not on my watch, so hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. :)
Yikes! Good save Leon :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I sometimes have to work on a Sunday, but usually that means working from home, so I don't mind it too much. However, today I have to go into town, to go to a meeting, and had to prepare for it some of yesterday, so it has kind of spoiled my weekend, and limited my time here on The Porch. Still, at least I'm not working down a coal-mine ;) Enjoy your Sunday Guardians

My grandfather and my uncles all worked in deep shaft coal mines located in western Pennsylvania (Bituminous coal). They dug the coal out by hand on their hands an knees. Simply awful. The mine has been closed for many years but has been burning slowly underground. One town in Pennsylvania, Centralia, got so bad from the underground fire that the entire town had to be abandoned.

Good morning to all - starting off great here in NC. Going to carry my Ebony Lambsfoot today.

The large oak trees around here often break from rot and storm damage and even topple over because the soil is so sandy and their roots tend to stretch wider rather than deeper. My next door neighbor had a very old oak that dropped a large limb on his shed and destroyed it. He called a tree service to cut down the rest and gave us a good number of the trunk sections to put around our fire pit as places to sit. I have a couple of large oaks in my front yard and recently trimmed the limbs that hang over our roof. They've stood strong through at least two hurricanes in the past twenty years and there are no signs of rot, so I think they'll keep going strong for many more year (maybe many more than I have left on this earth!).

Very cool, David! Maybe we'll get some more tag along photos of your adventures again!😉👍

More Betty today...

Thanks Dennis. To be honest it's main duty is carving up pie.
Great shot of Betty with that little cactus there.

Yeah, it's bad here, but even worse in the South-East - of course! 😡

Fuel aside, I wouldn't be surprised if the cancellation wasn't more to do with my mate's missus wanting to use the car that day or something

I didn't go out yesterday, as it was raining hard all day. Not much better today either :( I'd forgotten about that book, nice photo

Yeah it's a good book, thank you again. It has an appendix referenced by county which made me aware of a few things I didn't know about.
That looks like an interesting book. I was watching some of these old newsreels again a couple of weeks ago.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I've always thought the top of that stick looks resembles an old prosthetic hip.

Friday tea.

Thank you very much David . I guess the Top Of STICK does look like somewhat like the Hip Joint Bone but it actually is a small portion of a Working Horse Harness called the Hames . That ball end is now part of one of my Canes .
Edited photo out . Forgot where I was .

You're all making me paranoid, I have a big old black walnut in my yard, I really need to have someone come trim some of the large branches away from the side closest to the house...
