Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Guardians and "Grub"! We DO like our food and drink here, as well as our lambsfoot knives! 🤓

...
Hope everyone is having a good day. It's been sunny here, but very cold. It was fun on the market, but I forgot to take a pic of my chips and gravy! :D

Christmas and Fruit Cakes! A classic pairing (and the source of many quips that besmirch the reputation of fruit cake ;)).

Eleanor would probably think that sounds great; she loves IKEA! 🙄😁
I'm not very fond of shopping at IKEA, but I absolutely LOVE one kind of cookie my wife often would buy there (I think they're called chocolate oat crispies or biscuits, with dark chocolate between a pair of thin oatmeal cookies)!:thumbsup: 🤓

...
It's always good to see your loyal Lamb John :) I'm enjoying carrying my Rosewood Big 'Un today, along with my Hartshead Barlow :) Hope you have a good day

Speaking of cookies, Jack has been known to occasionally indulge in a biscuit or three! 😁:thumbsup:

Thank you, Jack. Hopefully, it didn't make for too dull a read.

This ale is a veritable meal.

Both the stout and the knife look like delectable treats, Dylan!:thumbsup::cool:

Great pics Gary :)
...
I enjoyed catching up with my pal over coffee and a croissant, before going into town, to do some shopping, and having a Thai lunch ;)

Your lunch photo has me wanting to Thai one on, Jack!;)

...
Hope everyone is having a good day :) I'm afraid the weather here only got worse, so my woods walk was abandoned in favour of a shopping trip. Got to eat lunch at a nice Middle Eastern place though :) Heading out to a birthday party this evening :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend Guardians

I envy your stag HHB with all that Middle East goodness at its disposal!:cool: 😁

That's the spirit, GT. 🤠
Thanks, John. :)

It's~~~Beginning to look a lot like Christmas~~~

Splendid AC, Joshua! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Getting the holiday spirit

Very nice!:thumbsup: (Although the right side of the photo suggests the 3 Wise Guys may have stopped off at a strip joint! 🤓 )

Thanks for the suggestion Gary, I hadn't even considered that Unfortunately, I have a very weak left eye, but I guess nothing is insurmountable Trigger mechanisms are available which would stop the stain on my thumb, but they are expensive, and perhaps take some of the fun out of using a slingshot
I hadn't considered that if you change hands, you'll have to change the eye you use for aiming! 😁

Some very cool photos Jack
. Hope I can get some "Holiday" flavor into a photo or two with my Lambsfoot knivesView attachment 1695463. I'll work on it later though.
Bill, your stag HHB always looks marvelous, but I think especially so with that crystal orb!:thumbsup:

I thought tonight’s beer from my German beer advent calendar (which I’ve been posting about over in the Beverages and Blades thread) just had to be paired with a Guardians Lambsfoot. The resemblance is uncanny.
...
Very cool, Barrett!

Wonderful pics Gary! Union Jack sure is a good-looking Lamb Looking forward to seeing VJ!
Thanks, Jack, and UJ appreciates your generous assessment. :)

I like that picture VERY much, Jack!!

I decided to clean up, and sharpen this old Whitehouse & Sons axe I picked up a couple of months back Well, it's gets something off the table

Handsome axe, Jack; the hedgehog trademark is grand!:thumbsup:

I agree, Jack. It would have been nice to see a traditional 2-blade swayback jack with a Lamb main and pen secondary, or even some size variations. That said, I do like the sowbelly frame and it will be interesting to see a Lambsfoot blade executed on such - I don't think it's been done before.
I've been enthralled with the sowbelly frame since I first held an example, and I'm a big fan of a lambsfoot blade, so that knife certainly has some appeal. The clip blade seems awfully "droopy" even for a sowbelly pattern, though. And since I've essentially never tried to master the acquisition of GEC products, my chances of succeeding in the scramble for that knife are minuscule, I'd guess.

Project Update, overall i would call it a complete success.
...
How it started.
...
You can see it has a slight mint green tinge, instead of white natural bone.
...
This is taken in a bit of shade, that looks like the colour i was aiming for, you cannot see the green tinge in these 2 photos.
...
Side by side with another knife nick opener i have, you can see that the idea works, getting the timing right is the thing.
Cool project and results, Leon; thanks for your periodic reports!
Did you have to change the solution in which the bone was submerged now and then because it became cloudy as it drew dye from the bone?

Maybe a drop of bleach, applied with a cotton swab? I'd leave it on for just a very short time and then let the experiment sit in the sun for a bit.*

*Please take all my suggestions with caution: I got a "C" in chemistry, and was banned from bathroom cleaning duty at the student co-op, after a small bleach and ammonia mishap.
Clever girl!!
🤓

Great photo, and a fantastic selection of Lambs.

Thanks for the encouragement, gents. :)

Very exciting! Have you been able to sleep since your hole in one?? 🤓

My mother's father made these cardboard Santas. I'm going to try to repair them a bit this year. Decades of cellotape have done a little damage. Also, one of them is painted on one side only, for whatever reason if any. My painting can't be worse than no painting.
Cool old Christmas decorations, and Old Toffee Wings looks better than ever!

Sounds like you're well set up.
I should be slightly better equipped for snow than last year, and I hope that I'll have very few chances to prove it!

Thank you for your congratulations. It was actually easy to retire when I did due to the fact that the district closed down my classroom due to only having one student. I could have gone to another school but I didn’t want to move all my stuff twice and I was going to retire at the end of year anyway. I love the Henderson’s but haven’t tried it on anything sweet yet.
Thanks for the info, sir! I hope the first few weeks of retirement haven't worn you out!
😁

Thanks. I looked at a Great Lakes lighthouse calendar, but there was one picture I knew would irritate me for a month. It looked like a beacon on a pier with nothing like a house attached.
I opened it up. Mostly Maine, a couple other east coasters, one Illinois, and three Michigans. We do have the longest coastline this side of the Pecos, after all.
...
The cover is Castle Hill in Rhode Island. Kind of nice, because I grew up across the street from another Castle Hill, and some of my early American ancestors came to Rhode Island.
Thanks for the additional calendar info. I'm still using some postage stamps I bought last summer featuring American lighthouses. Aren't there Michigan lighthouses at which Joe or Jane Public can volunteer to be a caretaker for a month (or summer or something)?

Wow! Mammoth catch-up Gary! :)

Definitely  I'm just having some cheese on toast, with my lunchtime cuppa :D

I finding it interesting, but I'm not jumping through hoops for one!

Have a great day my friend

I've had this bottle kicking around since last Christmas. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I really prefer good Scotch, or Irish

Entx7Gf.jpg

Still, to misquote a classic song, "It's gotta get drunk!" :D

I always have a large bottle of Maker's round the house for my friends who do not like Scotch. Bourbon has gained a substantial following and that stuff (Maker's) is a good all round whisky (according to them). My preference is Scotch.
Finally got all the Christmas cards written, and the presents wrapped....now I just need to tidy up my house!  :D

Hello Jack, Very nice photo of your HHB in a Christmas theme.
Each to their own I guess Bill :) More whisky for you and me! :D ;) Thank you my friend :)
Still have the Ironwood (2019 Guardians knife) in the pocket today. I like the slim profile.

Definitely much less chunky than stag Bill, and lighter than a Hartshead Barlow
A Lambsfoot blade in a Sowbelly frame just seems very odd to me.
Mixing the world's curviest frame with the worlds straightest blade... not for me thanks.
Yes, I'll be interested to hear what folks have to say about it John, certainly not a frame I'd have thought of
Lovely picture, Jack. :)
Doesn't it feel good when you get the cards and gift wrapping out of the way?
Thanks mate, yes it sure does! :D But then, you get a card from Great Aunt Jemima, who you'd forgotten about... :D I always have a few spare gifts wrapped too, just in case someone pops round who I wasn't expecting ;)

Good Morning Guardians
Just four days to go until Christmas Vacation...
Yay! I think the schools and colleges here have at least another week to go  You're posting some fantastic seasonal pics my friend :)

Went by the PO to mail Xmas gifts to family in Connecticut and NOLA and a knife trade to TX. Had to stop by Noha’s Bagels for Tuesday morning Bite. 😋 Still no indoor dining but they don’t have Henderson’s there anyway.

Blimey! What on Earth are they thinking of?! That looks very tasty 😋Great pic too :)

Did you have to change the solution in which the bone was submerged now and then because it became cloudy as it drew dye from the bone?
No mate that was the amazing thing, the solution remained completely clear, all i had to do was to make sure it was still active. As long as you could see bubbles it was still active. So the solution lasts a long time.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for answering my question. You're right; it seems amazing to me, too, that your solution stayed clear for the entire 8 weeks! 😲 Where did that yellowish dye go when it came out of the bone??? Life is full of mysteries, and now I have another one to contemplate! 🤓

By the way, my lambsfoot knife for this week may not officially be a genuine lambsfoot, but the blade sure looks like it fits the definition. It's my Chinese Schrade 19OT Landshark model that I call LambShark:
