I know what you mean Ed, it never seems to take much to set my back off these daysThanks JackJack Black . As much as I love snow, the shoveling is a killer for me these days. Plowing with my small tractor is fun but shoveling not so much.
I always think of you as a good sharpener DuncanGary -I don’t think you are alone in the finding of sharpening difficult, I think I need to find a new strop and try out a diamond paste perhaps.
I really like the idea of traditional sharpening with stones by hand but oh boy it can test you at times.
It’s really weird - some nights I will fly through a handful of knives - another night I will be pulling my hair out!
Being self taught is exactly what I am finding what you say - lots of practice doesn't mean perfect unless you are doing things right.
I have changed and refined the style of hand sharpening a lot over the years - I am still far from happy as my edges simply don’t last all that long.
If I was close to someone who was good at the art of Sharpening- then I would simply watch and pick it up immediately.
You tube has SO MANY variables— I have not found one yet I can relate to.
In saying that I have my AC screaming sharp right now
Happy new year my friends.
I wish the absolute best for you all - hang in in there as the Sea is still a wee bit choppy and will be for some time - but we have a great community here.
Guardians of the Lambsfoot- A very Good New Year to you all![]()
Cool pic
My wrists would have gotten tired. Some of you have already stepped into 2022 while others are still waiting to see what the new year will bring us. To all of you Guardians I wish a Happy, Healthy New Year. Joy and happiness.
It all depends on who's wrist you're holding and who is holding your wrist. My wrists would have gotten tired.
Maybe when one was younger...It all depends on who's wrist you're holding and who is holding your wrist.
2021 wasn't a great year was itI don't think I've ever been so impatient to change the calendars. Maybe there's some psychology at work. I have no reasonable explanation.

Thanks. I knew we had it, but I just found it by accident. It's probably from Mom's family house, though it evokes a story of Dad's childhood (being on stage with Harry Blackstone Sr and getting to keep the rabbit).I love your magician's hat
I always find that tale fascinating JerThanks. I knew we had it, but I just found it by accident. It's probably from Mom's family house, though it evokes a story of Dad's childhood (being on stage with Harry Blackstone Sr and getting to keep the rabbit).
