Wide ranging variety of covers on your lambs, Dylan. They look great, particularly the two tone on the horn.
Impressive Flock of Lambs, Dylan.![]()
Take the phone with you to the Market... Gives you something to do and your friends can keep you from wanting to smash your phone into little tiny pieces.Unfortunately, my new phone isn't arriving until this evening, and since I'm going to have to mess around with that, I may not get down to the market tomorrow morning
I will (soon) participate with the Jack stories... Who doesn't appreciate good stories about our friend Jack Black.'Tis time for a giveaway.
I will need access to Wifi to set it up John, and can do without a constant line of old men wittering in my ear, asking what I'm doing, and how they don't understand/need/want these new-fangled things, which is exactly how it'd be! Too many hammers around too!Take the phone with you to the Market... Gives you something to do and your friends can keep you from wanting to smash your phone into little tiny pieces.![]()
Very good point... And very funny.can do without a constant line of old men wittering in my ear, asking what I'm doing, and how they don't understand/need/want these new-fangled things
The Lambsfoot is such a versatile knife![]()
While certainly not illegal, knife carry is very much frowned upon by the authorities here, as well as a lot of the misguided general public, and producing even the most diminutive of folders is likely to lead to the appearance of a SWAT team. As a consequence, if I'm opening a letter, or some packaging, in the centre of town, for example, I have developed discreet ways of using my Lambsfoot in public, so I'll perhaps choke up on the blade to shield it, or reverse the knife, open the blade half an inch (much easier with a cam tang), and use it like that, pinching the blade in a sort of 'pencil' grip. After having done this for some years, I can usually produce my Lambsfoot, use it effectively, and slip it back in my pocket, in a few seconds, and without Nosey Parkers being any the wiser![]()

I was wondering if my run of bad luck might be due to the Gods missing the regular cake sacrifices I makeSo I have 'sacrificed' a couple of sausage-rolls
Thankfully not a burnt offering

People always laugh at me when I show up to staff meetings with my cup of 7-11 coffee.
They all think you have to pay $4.00 at Starbucks to get a good cup of coffee... Jokes on them.
'Tis time for a giveaway.
A worthy, thoughtful, and kind tribute, Dylan. I have one, so though not an entrant, I will gladly offer a few thoughts about Jack. Whoever amongst you is picked, will be delighted with this rare bird.It is used and you will see some patina on the blade and the Ironwood has darkened some. The gorgeous grain shines through beautifully though and despite my attempts to capture it, my pictures do it no justice.
Thank you kindly, Greg. It’s become kind of an obsession. What a scrumptious pairing! You do find all the good treats, don't you?![]()
What an awesome idea. I am new to this thread in the last few pages or so, but it has drawn me in. After doing some reading I ordered my first lambfoots in November 2021. I kept one and gave my brother the other one for Christmas. Both of us became converts and decided to place an order with a maker for a pair of customs and that is when I first communicated with Jack. I PM’ed him with a request for information so my brother and I could be sure to order from a good maker and with detail true to spec.Alright, Guardians.
'Tis time for a giveaway.
I thought a wee bit on how I wanted to conduct this giveaway and wondered if I should present it within the confines of this special thread or in the forums abroad. Since this involves a special knife, I opted to keep it here and though folks who tune in here now and then are welcome to participate, this is by and large, for the Guardians proper.
Like myself, some of you have been here for awhile, a few quite a bit longer than myself. My first post in this thread was back in 2017, on page #56 - frankly, with all that has gone on, it feels like a lifetime ago. In the words of the glam rock band, Cinderella, "The more things change, the more they seem the same". In essence, despite all the changes and events over the last few years, one of the things that has remained a constant is my fondness for the Lambsfoot.
I have had the good fortune to be able to participate in most (if not all) of Jack Black's "official" SFOs. Through Jack's hard work and diligence in holding A Wright & Son to his standards, we have had the great pleasure to experience the finest knives produced from that particular factory. If you have not experienced one of Jack's SFOs, this will be your chance to gain the opportunity.
I will keep the rules simple:
1. Please be a member in good standing (not just here, but throughout BF proper)
2. I would prefer that you have at least posted here in the Guardians or will attest to lurking. I will take you at your word.
3. If you are fortunate to have won and you end up not liking the knife, please consider offering it to a fellow Guardian (I can help facilitate if needed). Obviously, I can't enforce this - it is simply a request.
4. This is a giveaway in Jack's honor. To enter - share a story, memory, or thought with Jack in mind. You all know I like pictures, so please include one with your entry as well
5. Feel free to share as many as you would like - it will still remain 1 entry per person.
I am not putting geographical limits on this. If you win, I will work with you to get the knife to you as soon as prudently possible regardless of locale.
I will let this go for a couple of weeks and will link the giveaway in my signature. I will log the entrants and will devise some manner of picking a winner - it will be randomized in some way.
On to the prize.
I came into this knife without intending to. I won't get into the details but simply put, I was trying to help out and ended up with a knife, one that I already have an excellent example of. This is Jack's 2019 Guardians Exclusive SFO, dressed up in beautiful Ironwood, fluted bolsters, and a high carbon steel Lambsfoot blade. Some have said this is one of Jack's finest - it is a matter of preference (I am partial to Ebony and Stag myself) but it is an incredibly fine knife all the same.
It is used and you will see some patina on the blade and the Ironwood has darkened some. The gorgeous grain shines through beautifully though and despite my attempts to capture it, my pictures do it no justice.
Best of luck to you all!

Honestly mate, me and my pal are the youngsters down there (and he is clueless when it comes to post-1960 technology), there are a bunch of old men, a rather eccentric bunch at that, who probably haven't had another conversation all week, and look forward to bending our ears, with a combination of ancient tales of glory, and medical problems!Very good point... And very funny.![]()
I should have posted a pic reallyThat's a clever method of discreetly opening an envelope. I tried it this morning and, while I will require practice to become adept at the method, I can imagine it being quite effective. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks buddyThat's the spirit!
Always glad to help PeteWhat an awesome idea. I am new to this thread in the last few pages or so, but it has drawn me in. After doing some reading I ordered my first lambfoots in November 2021. He responded quickly and with enthusiasm. What a gentleman. Thanks Jack! He makes it easy to want to participate in this thread and enjoy the Lamb.

Changing phones is right up there with going to get your teeth drilled by the dentist - no funMy new phone just arrived, and I am charging it. I managed to get my contacts back, but my photos are lost, along with a lot elseThe boiler engineer fitted a new expansion vessel, but the boiler is even noisier than it was before he attended, so much so that I've had to turn it off again
Heaven knows how long it's going to take to get it right
I'll attend to that in the morning, and then start messing about with this new phone, and hopefully, importing my contacts and calendar. If I do make it to the market, it won't be until the afternoon

Yes, how come something which costs so much is such a chore?!Changing phones is right up there with going to get your teeth drilled by the dentist - no fun
Hopefully the “cloud” will be able to save the photos
Do love a good cap, especially in winter.
