Those look delicious LeonThought we should have some Irish fare in the Guardians for a momentous day, and nothing is more Irish than the humble spud. Some Potato Cakes, peeled and sliced with a Lambsfoot of course..

Mine isn't tweed! Hmm.Me too Leon, and it looks like we have very similar caps![]()
Thanks Jack. I was definitely set with the lambfoot in my pocket standing byLooks like you're set for the day there Jon![]()

I like the picture.
People always laugh at me when I show up to staff meetings with my cup of 7-11 coffee.
They all think you have to pay $4.00 at Starbucks to get a good cup of coffee... Jokes on them.
Good to see you here Guardian Glenn! While I do "guard" a few Lambsfoot knives, I am not a regular in this thread. I do have to pop on here and brag on this one a bit. I just picked this one up. Maybe someone will correct me, but I understand that this was made by Ashley Harrison, son of the owner of A Wright & Son. It's a fine knife, no doubt.

With all that snow, you could definitely benefit from some tweedMine isn't tweed! Hmm.
You're always prepared with a Lambsfoot JonThanks Jack. I was definitely set with the lambfoot in my pocket standing by
if you ask me the cheaper the coffee the better. My all time favorite is no name bought in bulk coffee when we’re underway for months and it’s been sitting out for a while with a slight burnt taste. It’s like my uncle always says “it’ll put hair on your chest”
The sun is definitely up here, best day we've had all year, but I am stuck in the house waiting for a plumber who might not even showView attachment 1768505
Reporting for duty before the Sun is up. As always I hope y’all have a good day
Dang Jack. You’re having some kind of luck with boiler and plumbing issuesThe sun is definitely up here, best day we've had all year, but I am stuck in the house waiting for a plumber who might not even showHave a good day Jon

Changed my mind about the merry quip. The sun is definitely up here, best day we've had all year, but I am stuck in the house waiting for a plumber who might not even showHave a good day Jon.
Been a heck of a week JonDang Jack. You’re having some kind of luck with boiler and plumbing issues
Lol! Thanks Jer!Changed my mind about the merry quip.
Here's another of our string of downtown gentlemen's clothiers. We still have one in a strip mall (how vulgar) down south, but I can't afford them either. I should go there again before they close.

Those look delicious.
Forenoon... I like that.
I grew up on good 'ol Folgers. My all time favorite is no name bought in bulk coffee when we’re underway for months and it’s been sitting out for a while with a slight burnt taste.
Such a Ye Olde word isn't it?!Forenoon... I like that.![]()
That IS expensiveI grew up on good 'ol Folgers.
I buy the huge cans of it at Costco, cheap and good.
I won't turn my nose up at a better coffee, but I don't regularly pay those prices.
Some of my students show up for class each day with these $8.00 coffee drinks, that adds up.
Lol! Thanks Jer!That's pretty cool, I like the label
Are Shakespeare, the fishing tackle manufacturer, (rather than the 16th century playwright!
), still based in Kalamazoo? I have probably asked you that question before, for which I apologise my friend

I love that branding!
I don't recall you mentioning any of that Jer
I double-quoted you somehow.
No, I don't think you have asked me that. (And don't forget recurve bows and golf clubs!)
The building is now Shakespeare's Pub, and a good one, but they don't have the super-elite servers of the Hangar, which, did I mention, has finally re-opened, with seven of the seasoned servers of yore, after the Mother's Day fire of last year?

Wonderful, generous giveaway. Not an entry, as I already have one.Alright, Guardians.
'Tis time for a giveaway.
I thought a wee bit on how I wanted to conduct this giveaway and wondered if I should present it within the confines of this special thread or in the forums abroad. Since this involves a special knife, I opted to keep it here and though folks who tune in here now and then are welcome to participate, this is by and large, for the Guardians proper.
Like myself, some of you have been here for awhile, a few quite a bit longer than myself. My first post in this thread was back in 2017, on page #56 - frankly, with all that has gone on, it feels like a lifetime ago. In the words of the glam rock band, Cinderella, "The more things change, the more they seem the same". In essence, despite all the changes and events over the last few years, one of the things that has remained a constant is my fondness for the Lambsfoot.
I have had the good fortune to be able to participate in most (if not all) of Jack Black's "official" SFOs. Through Jack's hard work and diligence in holding A Wright & Son to his standards, we have had the great pleasure to experience the finest knives produced from that particular factory. If you have not experienced one of Jack's SFOs, this will be your chance to gain the opportunity.
I will keep the rules simple:
1. Please be a member in good standing (not just here, but throughout BF proper)
2. I would prefer that you have at least posted here in the Guardians or will attest to lurking. I will take you at your word.
3. If you are fortunate to have won and you end up not liking the knife, please consider offering it to a fellow Guardian (I can help facilitate if needed). Obviously, I can't enforce this - it is simply a request.
4. This is a giveaway in Jack's honor. To enter - share a story, memory, or thought with Jack in mind. You all know I like pictures, so please include one with your entry as well
5. Feel free to share as many as you would like - it will still remain 1 entry per person.
I am not putting geographical limits on this. If you win, I will work with you to get the knife to you as soon as prudently possible regardless of locale.
I will let this go for a couple of weeks and will link the giveaway in my signature. I will log the entrants and will devise some manner of picking a winner - it will be randomized in some way.
On to the prize.
I came into this knife without intending to. I won't get into the details but simply put, I was trying to help out and ended up with a knife, one that I already have an excellent example of. This is Jack's 2019 Guardians Exclusive SFO, dressed up in beautiful Ironwood, fluted bolsters, and a high carbon steel Lambsfoot blade. Some have said this is one of Jack's finest - it is a matter of preference (I am partial to Ebony and Stag myself) but it is an incredibly fine knife all the same.
It is used and you will see some patina on the blade and the Ironwood has darkened some. The gorgeous grain shines through beautifully though and despite my attempts to capture it, my pictures do it no justice.
Best of luck to you all!

As I recall, the pub occupies a sort of mezzanine, and there's non-pub stuff in there, but who cares?I don't recall you mentioning any of that JerAs a boy, I imagined the Shakespeare factory to be huge, rather than pub-sized. That's a cool pic buddy
