We walked on, passing one of the vertiginous (and very grotty) flights of steps, which climb the hill. Like rock-climbing photos, the ground never looks anywhere near as steep as it does in reality! 
We also called in at the Maritime Museum, of which I neglected to get a photo
It was very small, but we left them a donation anyway. Sadly, the Lifeboat Museum, run by our volunteer lifeboat institute, which was previously nearby, and which I've been visiting since I was a kid, is no longer there 
At the bottom of the hill though, is the street's best known shop, and somewhere I would always visit, before being dragged back uphill by my parents or grandparents
We were now down at the 'promenade', and though many of the businesses were also closed, we could at least see the sea. Scarborough is still a working fishing port
