Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Today I’m Totin this Oakedge Lambsfoot. Most assuredly made by A Wrights. The slip is also handmade in England and very well made. :)

Very nice Ron, both knife and slip :)

I am taking my lambsfoot and one other with me on a trip to Texas to visit the in-laws. I’m thankful that they are such a pleasure to be with.

Hope you have a great trip Joshua

I love the way they do the pins in Sheffield, so that you can't even feel them. I've had my first ebony AW Lambsfoot for some years now, and the surfaces are still as buttery smooth as when I first got the knife, so hopefully the ebony on the 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot will stay the same :)

Sounds great! Another reason to have a Lambsfoot.

Yeah, I feel like the ugly bridesmade at a wedding,no one to go home with. :p:p

LOL! :D It's rotten mate :( It was Charlie @waynorth last year, took about 2 months from what I remember  I'll keep hold of one for you in case it all goes wrong ;)

ha ha sounds good! I'm still hoping by some miracle, those other lambsfoot show up as well, with the Guardian I would have four.

You're very kind my friend :) I noticed it on the map myself once, and decided to explore, following the Wharfe down from Poole to Harewood Bridge. It's a nice walk, very peaceful, lots of wildlife, towering Victorian railway viaducts, an interesting old church, and some industrial remnants, as well as Rougemont of course. I thoroughly recommend it  There's a really old packhorse bridge on the Poole side of the wood, which I was surprised not to be able to find anything out about. Have to make a return visit :)

Thanks again Jack, your a mine of info as always. I have to go to Harrogate once or twice every year. If it's nice weather I usually take my bike and cycle out of Huby station and do Almscliff Crag. The next time I think I'll check out Rougemont and Harewood Castle instead. I love old packhorse bridges to  I wish the OS Maps would mark more of them.

My new Michael May lambfoot. Loving the bocote handles and brass; f & f solid, not perfect, happy to support an individual maker. btw, really enjoy seeing all your posts and knives here, great community, classic & lovely knives.View attachment 923329

Yep that Bocate is great  A fine looking knife you have.

This Wright's Candle-end hasn't seen much pocket-time lately. I spent some time stropping it last night, and thought I'd carry it today. I think I like the look of the pile side best :) Hope everyone is having a good week

Jack are those candle-end knives what are marked as the "Premier Line" on A.Wright's website?

The last time I was at Almscliffe, having walked up the back way from Pannal, I was amazed to find it completely deserted, and on a Saturday afternoon too! I guess a lot of climbers prefer plastic 'crags' these days o_O Thanks for the pic my friend :) The number 36 bus from Harrogate will take you past Harewood Castle, and drop you at the Harewood Arms nearby, or on the Harrogate side of Harewood Bridge if you want to go to Rougemont that way. Or there is an entrance to the wood on the Huby side if you get the train. There are also a couple of buses which will take you either to Huby or to Poole

It's the same frame, but mine has a plain spring, so like the one at the bottom of the pic below, which is in the general 'Pen and pocket knives' section. I should add that the photos on that site show knives very unlike the knives Wright's are actually making today. It was a lucky find at the factory, they must have had a large enough piece of Sambar to do one of those, rather than the small pattern. Wright's do a few more knives, which aren't on that site

hello Guardians, I have a newbie question I bet you've heard before- Is it Lambfoot or Lambsfoot? Michael May & and A. Wright & Sons web sites use Lambfoot, and I notice you all use Lambsfoot. Is there a correct way? thx.

I'm kind of curious about this to, Jack and Charlie. I tend to say both lambsfoot and sheepsfoot, although it seems like I've seen them both used without the "s" in equal fare.

Laurelbb Laurelbb , that's a superb bocote lambsfoot you have!:cool::thumbsup:

Regarding your name question, if you go to the first post in this thread, there's a link to an extensive index in which the second category is "General Lambsfoot Discussion" and one of its subcategories is "Name". Links to many relevant posts are listed there, and perhaps you'll get a satisfactory answer in one (or more) of them. (Maybe Post #47 in this thread is a good start.)
