a size down from my usual Mechanix gloves, and I don't think the steel liner is going to stretch![]()
I'm hanging onto my Hartshead Barlow![]()
The texture of your stag handles matches the texture of the rock perfectly.
Yeah, expensive mistake
Hope it goes well Bill, nice stag thereGood morning Guardians. Another scorcher today here in southern coastal NC. Contractor is starting the construction of our gas fire pit and patio extension today. It will be fun to have for the fall, winter and spring months. I have my Senator in the pocket once again.

I hope you have a great Friday and it leads to a fantastic weekend, my friend.
Happy to listen to your reasoning my friendJack Black sorry Jack about it not being a lambfoot. I thought it was. I’m out of pocket at the moment but will delete the image when I get home.
Thanks Jack. Yes, always chores to do. Hope your lunch at the cafe was good. We have friends staying with us (just two days) and I picked up some take-out breakfast. I was skeptical about it but the food wasn't bad at all.Yeah, expensive mistakeI have loads of Mechanix gloves, and these are the only ones which have had inconsistent sizing, but they cost twice as much as the others
It's always nice to see OYW Jer

Well, my reasoning was The blade tapers from tang to point and the spine of the blade is not parallel with the spine of the handle. HOWEVER - You, my friend, have forgotten more about lamb foot blades than I would know if I studied the subject until I was 100 yrs old. The image is removed and all is well. No worries brother.Happy to listen to your reasoning my friend
Nice gloves, nice Barlow. What led you to get the cut resistant version? Have a good one Jack.I got a pair of these cut-resistant Mechanix gloves, mainly because I know my size. XL came, and it's a size down from my usual Mechanix gloves, and I don't think the steel liner is going to stretch![]()
A nice sheen on the haft, John. Do you polish the hafts as a part of maintenance?

Dapper and debonair my friend
If you look back at the tang, at the 'grinder's notch', you can get an idea of how much steel has been lost through sharpening, and the line of the original edge, which I think, coupled with the shape of the spine, and the placement of the point, indicates a Spearpoint blade. We'd generally see a thousand of those for every Lambsfoot blade on a Barlow, and it's very much the default blade on old Sheffield Barlows. That one may even pre-date Wostenholm using the Lambsfoot on a Barlow. It isn't always possible to tell, with a heavily worn, or modified blade, and knives can look older than they are, but I don't see anything to indicate a Lambsfoot. Take this Abram Brooksbank though, I would never have guessed this had once been a Lambsfoot, but this is a blade which has been damaged, worn, and then drastically modified to make it back into a useable blade.Well, my reasoning was The blade tapers from tang to point and the spine of the blade is not parallel with the spine of the handle. HOWEVER - You, my friend, have forgotten more about lamb foot blades than I would know if I studied the subject until I was 100 yrs old. The image is removed and all is well. No worries brother.![]()
