Thanks buddy, picked up some nice sausage rolls on the way too!
Mate, hope your walk went well and you had an enjoyable time. Thought i would show you something that just arrived in my Post Box. Knowing the avid walker and hiker that you are found these online and thought you may be interested as well as all the other intrepid hikers on the Guardians thread. I have a good pair of hiking boots for bush walking through rough conditions, normally Winter, but they are a bit of overkill in less gruelling conditions when it is not so wet. These are those.
But these are my latest purchase, bought them on spec, but was prepared to take the risk for the price, they were just so cheap. Well they are fantastic for hikes and walks in not so inclement conditions, they are light with really good traction for inclines, but so comfortable on the feet. Can go through puddles and such but not really boggy conditions. Ideal for late Spring, Summer and Autumn, see what you all think. Have a good weekend everyone.
Thanks Leon, those look interesting mate

I have a whole cupboard full of hiking and mountaineering boots from my gear-testing days, but they are a bit hard on my old feet these days, so I wear lighter footwear when I can
Finished this yesterday, not entirely happy with the final result, but 1000% on what it was like originally. Lost all my original photos of it, but was a sickly lime green with mis matched covers. As Dylan stated they looked like cheap plastic. But the blade is a screamer, takes a sharp edge and keeps it, the most important thing to me. I saw a photo that
paulhilborn
posted with some dark olive covers and tried to get as close to them as i could, but with limited resources. got one side close but the other side no where near close, but it was my first attempt at a re-dye and at least if found out why, bone can only absorb so much dye, i did not know that. If i had of, would have approached the whole project from a different perspective. Any way, still fairly happy with how it turned out, at least i have a really good work knife that looks half presentable, but more importantly i learned things, a lot better than Youtube.

After getting out as much of the original dye as i could.
Now.
Before.
After. This is close to the colour i was trying to achieve remembering Paul's photo.
I think that looks really good Leon

That was a fascinating project, and I reckon we all learned a lot from it. Well done
I know what you were gonna say!
When I say "new" I am referring to the changes maybe a year ago. Harder for me to use. I like the old "likes" rather than the new "reactions". Just sounds weird. One good thing is that it seems easier to post directly from my phone now--don't have to use imgur. But it is more difficult to post videos.
LOL!
I'm with you on that Vince
Apart from the 'shutdown', my connectivity has been crawling along these past few days, made it difficult to do ANYTHING online
Hey Guardians, I hope y’all are having a nice weekend. We went to our local fire department’s annual fish fry today (first time they’ve had it since 2019). I brought my stag HHB along with me.
What a great idea!

They don't do anything like that here

It looks like Eleanor and Scout had a great time

Fantastic pics Barrett
Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a fab weekend, F.A.B. as Lady Penelope used to say!

I think I may have missed a few posts from 2-3 pages back, so sorry about that, the software sometimes seems to drop quotes, and if I'm replying to a bunch of them, it can go unnoticed

I had a good day yesterday, but the forecast sunshine never really showed up, and it was close to raining most of the day. It's drizzly and overcast today too. I sure hope summer is going to start at some point!

Still, I have a bunch of stuff to do indoors anyway

Enjoy your Sunday Guardians, sticking with my Hartshead Barlow (few pics from my day in the woods below)
