Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good day to you Guardians! :D

It helps a bit when I don't let the exposure setting slip from 'palsy compensation' to 'fireworks'.
:D:thumbsup:
Is "palsy compensation" the same thing as 2-second shutter delay? The latter improved my photos dramatically (hard as that may be to believe )!!:cool::thumbsup:

My lambsfoot carry this week is my "Man Jack", the senator I won in an @R.c.s GAW:

Do you use a tripod GT? That's the only time I've used any form of shutter delay. Years ago, I used to use an infra-red remote control, which was great

Good to see your Man Jack my friend :)

My, my, this thread is cruising along, isn't it? Getting harder to keep up! :D

Dylan, that's a mighty fine looking ebony you've got there. Jack Black did us all a ++ on these Guardians, he's a good man.
Is that a zippo lighter? I always carried one a very long time ago, used to love the "tink" when I'd pop the lid open, drove the wife nuts ha ha.:p

Thank you for the compliments, my friend. It is indeed a Zippo. I have a couple that I like to have on hand. I converted one of them into a torch for cigars and I keep the other one stock.

That is a very cool pic Dylan  Great to see you back my friend, and hope all is well, and that you can get some respite from the heat. Have a fantastic weekend :)

Thank you for the compliment, Jack. I am going to try and pop in more frequently.

Ron, Dylan, Dave, & Greg, thanks for the great pics of your ebony lambsfoot knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I especially enjoyed Dave's and Greg's "Ebony at elevation" shots! ;):cool:

GT, I appreciate the kind words. I owe you an apology though. I forgot to respond to your query the other day in a different thread regarding the orientation of the Lambsfoot knife in the slip I made for it. I think the knife fits just fine either way. However, I did make the slips with the intent of having the knife inserted bolster first, with the swell end being towards the opening. I find that the knife is easier to insert and extract this way. I hope you find this helpful.

I have been carrying this bit of stag the last few days. It makes for a fine knife around the house and office.

Look forward to seeing more of you Dylan :) I imagine you have had your hands full, what with the move and everything, not to mention your leather projects. Nice-looking stag Lambsfoot there my friend

I'm going with ebony again today, hope everyone is having a good week

Morning Jack! That's a nice clear pic of your Guardian. Do you use a camera or cell phone?

I've never used a tripod, Jack; my shutter delay is a substitute for a tripod, in a sense. My problem is that I apparently press the shutter button so vigorously that seismic tremors flow from my fingertips to my shoulders, and almost every photo is unfocused due to my jiggling!:( The 2-second delay allows the tremors to subside and lets me hold the camera still (after reframing if necessary ) before the shutter actually trips. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Nice stag lambsfoot, Dylan!:cool::thumbsup: And thanks for the answer to my earlier query about the slips you made. The delayed response was no problem at all, since the question was really just idle curiosity, and I had no intention of changing the way I used the slip! ;) My experience matches what you noted, that bolster-first results in easier storage in and retrieval from the slip. (And I usually extract the knife by pinching the bolster through the bottom of the slip, and I think this automatically polishes the bolster a bit.

Excellent, Ron!:thumbsup::cool: That's the one you've called the Barlamb, right? ;)

I even nearly forgot to have lunch - and I don't recall THAT happening before! ;)

I don't think I've ever forgotten to have a meal, but occasionally I've forgotten that I'd ALREADY eaten, and thus had a second lunch (or breakfast or dinner)!!:p

Me too:

Jack, you need a good french onion soup to go with that. ;):p

Very tasty Dave, but it's a bit too hot for French onion soup here at the moment :)

I've heard of folks doing that GT :) Have you ever thought of using a tripod, I used to use one a lot years ago (when I had to pay for every pic I took), and they can be had very cheaply?

Thanks for the compliment my friend :) Lovely filework on your Man Jack

Doesn't she make your girlfriend jealous???

I have to be discreet Charlie ;) :D

Beautiful summer evenings we're having here at the moment :) Nipped up the road to a nice country pub, just us and the rabbits, bees, and red kites, and for me, a good pint of Sam Smiths :)
