There used to be a company here called Thornton's, who made the most amazing fudge and toffee, and had shops in nearly every Yorkshire town (turns out they're still going, but just online)Back in the early to mid 80's, I was a youth-worker, and worked out of a community centre in Sheffield. We had a pensioner's group, who mainly played bingo, but would sometimes go on a trip somewhere. One time, they were going to visit the Thornton's plant in Sheffield, and an affable, but over-nourished teenager, (aged 15, Alan weighed getting on for 300 pounds, and I once had to carry him 2 miles, after he sprained his ankle on a camping trip), managed to tag along. They toured the factory, and before they left, were each presented with a 2lb box of Thornton's Special Toffee. Unfortunately, most of them wore dentures, and couldn't eat toffee, so Alan came back with so many boxes they were stacked up in front of his sticky face! About a year later, Alan started going to the pub, and I have never seen anyone who could drink a pint so fast, people bought him them just to see it!

One of the things I had to collect in town was a new DAB radio. I remember having an FM radio years ago, which lasted around 20 years, and cost very little. In the past 15 years I've had 4 DAB radios, and none of them has been inexpensiveI know we're sometimes a bit behind with technology in this country, but I have to tell you we now have colour radio!

Have fun on the links Bill!Good morning Guardians. Headed out to the links on this chilly morning. Hate playing in cold weather but it will be warming up quickly.![]()
Jack Black asked me if I ever show my HHB to my friends? Answer to that question is yes - all the time. I get a lot of different comments on it too. Some people are surprised that I carry a knife. Mostly city folk who view knives as weapons

And it never cheers them up to hear what could be done to them with a pen or a lampcord or a keyboard.Have fun on the links Bill!
I cringe at the the cringers who think pocket knives are weapons. Perhaps they don’t have an imagination, I mean any ball point pen or pencil is also a potential weapon not to mention the 1,500 pounds of steel they drive around. Sheesh![]()
I'll be showing it off in this thread, too.I'm carrying this Ebony Lambfoot today. Dropping in to tell Jerscreened porch that his package is out for delivery. Jer - go outside with a cup of coffee and wait for your package.

Thanks Dwight, my least expensive Lambsfoot I think, but still a firm favouriteGracias Jack. Big Rose is a beauty. That Lemon Drizzle cake... now that's my kind of sweets.
Great spot for your morning coffee buddy, and a handsome old Lamb
Thanks a lot Dave, I gave him your bestMorning Guardians! Jack hope you have a good day at the market. Tell Toolman hi.
Really? Not a bad thing, a bit of a con-trick, they digitised a number of radio channels, and now we all have to pay for more expensive radios, which use a lot more power to runI won’t lie, I had to look up DAB radio. I’d never heard of it before.![]()
Have a great day Bill, hope it warmed up quicklyGood morning Guardians. Headed out to the links on this chilly morning. Hate playing in cold weather but it will be warming up quickly.![]()
