Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Happy New Year Guardians ! :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is well, and ready to see in a new year - 2023 - sounds like science fiction!👽:D Please feel free to skip the next bit

I'm afraid that my run of bad luck is still ongoing :( I hadn't realised how swollen my left foot and ankle was until I tried to put on my boots to go out last night! I wore something else, and walked down to my pal's to give them all their presents, then we caught a bus up to the pub. We had decided to go to a place called the Black Sheep Brewery Tap - Black Sheep is a brewery based 50 miles away, so I'm not sure why they would have a Leeds-based brewery tap, but we thought we'd give it a go. They had some live music on though, loud, and not very good, (Leeds has a large music college which comes with mixed benefits). We couldn't really have a conversation there, so we tried another pub, but it was very crowded. My mate has a party to go to tonight, so we decided to call it a night, but not before he had told me something alarming. His son, Cillian, had had a conversation with his head-teacher in which he'd told her about his friend Jack, who had a house full of guns and knives! I'm not sure what else was said, but the teacher was in a state of some panic, and rang my mate's missus. She told her that I did not have any guns, but volunteered that I did have a lot of knives, as I was a collector, and wrote about them, and that I'd given one to Cillian, (at his dad's request), but that he was only allowed to use it under supervision. What else was said, by her or Cillian, I don't know, as I suspect I was getting a rather sanitised version, but law-abiding people get their doors kicked in for this kind of thing here :(

We decided to walk home, as it's downhill, and there's a convenient series of connected alleyways, which run all the way from where we were, directly to my street, and then onto my friends. It's usually a pleasant walk, and a nicer alternative to the main road. Over the past couple of years though, an initiative aimed at reducing car use, has been encouraging people to cycle down the route, without any additional maintenance to the footpath. We were walking along, when I suddenly went flying, falling quite badly. After my friend had helped me up, I had a look at what had caused my fall, and there was a small section of tarmac, which had been used to fill a hole, and immediately next to it a rut 6 inches deep! As the edge of my foot had caught the tarmac, my right ankle had been turned by the adjacent drop, and I'm surprised I didn't break it. I did end up with a badly grazed knee, an injured elbow, a jarred back, and the issue of TWO sprained ankles, which is going to make life rather difficult!

Hanging onto my Hartshead Barlow, and I'll try to get some more vacation photos posted later  Have a good day Guardians

Wow Jack, you are on a bad streak. I will be joining Jeff and Dwight and lifting a toast to a better start for you in 2023. 🥃😎
I'm sitting in a cabin with a mix of rain and snow outside.
My niece is getting married today, so we are looking forward to that.
My nephew and I rented a cabin just a mile away from the wedding venue.
Lots of coffee drinking, story telling, and card playing. I had a run of luck with the cards... must be the way I cut the deck. ;)

Nice photo John, it’s good to be the dealer.
😄👍
Good Morning Guardians💂‍♀️
Great textures in that photo Harvey, not to mention an outstanding Lamb.
Reminiscing on what 2022 was for me and my family. It was a good year.

I got a promotion to the job I have aspired to for 9 years. My wife and I bought our first home with a yard that she and the dogs love. My nephew graduated from high school. My loving Grandmother turned 100 years old in June. And I’ve managed to meet some amazing people here. A rather good year, I say.

I will leave the challenges off this post. I just wanted to share the good.

Happy New Year to each of you and yours.

Sorry to hear this, Jack. Wishing you a better 2023. Gonna open a bottle of bubbly soon, and will toast to your health.

Jack, I’ve enjoyed catching up on your holiday adventures. Thanks for sharing! (We spent the holidays in Arkansas visiting family, and I sort of let keeping up with the forum take a backseat. I have been checking in a bit here and there, mostly just reading rather than posting.)

Sorry to hear of your continued run of bad luck. It’s a new year now, so let’s hope all that nonsense stayed behind with the old year. 😳

Hey, 3500 pages seems like a good way to ring in the New Year! Feels like it wasn’t that long ago I put this together, and now we’re not far from 4k!

Thanks Barrett, I hope you had a good one in Arkansas :) That's such a cool pic :)

Good morning Guardians, and Happy New Year everyone :) I hope it's a happy one for everyone  I was supposed to go to my neighbours to see in the New Year, (which I would have rather avoided because of my ankles), but he let me know, around 10.00pm, that he was off to a friend's birthday party. It wasn't entirely a surprise, and meant I could go to bed early ;) Lots of fireworks here, as usual, my area is kind of noted for them, and they were going off until at least 2.30am :D I'll probably have a glass of bubbly with my neighbours later, but I'd still like to rest my ankles a bit today. It's always good to start the New Year rested Jack, instead of recovering from the last night of the previous year.
Hope you are up and skipping off to the market soon.

Love the image of your bagpipe Lambfoot, Todd, especially the background bokeh
Thanks Harvey, just got lucky on that. 😎👍

Appropriate backdrop, your HHB is ready for another year. 😎👍

It was my third day in Fuerteventura, and I had booked a day out on a boat. I didn't get to see the whales and dolphins I'd hoped to see, but it was certainly a lot of fun, and a thoroughly enjoyable day :)

As I walked to the pick-up point for the coach to take me to the harbour, the birds were mobbing up!

Back at the harbour, where I had been a couple of days before, Captain Ceasar loudly introduced his colourful crew, in a multitude of languages, spoken fluently, and with great humour.

WNM9OOx.jpg

We boarded the boat, Germans first of course, but there were a few French people, a couple of Italians, two Dutch guys, a small party of Norwegians, some Spaniards, and a handful of English folks, one of whom had actually lived just up the road from me, in Leeds, for seven years :D

All aboard, and we were soon heading out of the harbour :)

The lighthouse and my hotel were a long way off.

Nice catamaran! :)

Different ferries were going to and from the island. The Express really motors!

The bar was open, and I got a beer, while I admired the fantastic views.

We were sailing past the remotest part of Fuerteventura, where there is just one dirt road, heading to the small isolated village of Punta de Jandia, and the Punta Jandia lighthouse at the southern tip of the island.
