Looking good John  :)
I don't know which entices me more..the lamb, park or soup. Great morning Jack.
Thanks Bob :) The soup was nice, if a little pricey :) I just made a large pan of soup myself, probably cost about the same as that bowl! :D

I felt a bit like Jack Black Jack Black this morning, waiting around for someone to come take a look at our water heater. After the kids’ bath last night, I noticed an odd smell in the basement, particularly in the closet where the furnace and water heater are. It didn’t smell exactly like gas, but close enough that I went ahead and called the gas company to send someone out to check. After further investigation (while waiting on the guy from the gas company, who showed up fairly promptly) I noticed the water heater was leaking, not a huge mess, thankfully, but still not good.

The guy from the gas company showed up with his gas and CO sensor. He immediately said he was fairly sure the smell wasn’t gas, but most likely wet insulation from the leaking water heater. He still checked everything out with the sensor, and seemed genuinely shocked when tested the exhaust from the water heater, which apparently had dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. So we shut the gas off to the water heater (he even put a CAUTION : DO NOT USE sticker over the gas valve) and this morning I had to get someone in to give me a quote on replacing the water heater.

Honestly, we should have proactively replaced it when we bought the house a few years ago. The manufacture date on it is 1991. 😳

The soonest they can actually replace it is Monday (maybe Tuesday), so we’re going to be without hot water for a few days. Hooray. 🙄

Oh no Barrett, I hope you can get by OK until the boiler is replaced. At least your girls aren't teenagers (talking from experience)! I sure am glad you're OK though
Great pics, Jack! Definitely looks like soup weather.
Thanks, yeah, a "real pea-souper guv'nor"! :D When I was a kid in Sheffield, with all the industry, and coal fires, even in the western suburbs, we would get terrible fog, all the time. Fortunately, there weren't so many cars on the roads then

Capable choice Ed

I think we’ll be alright. We are being proactive on the teenage girl situation by installing a water heater with a larger tank capacity than the current one. 😁
Smart move! 🤣

This is a beer I enjoy drinking on draught, made by one of my local breweries. I'm going out for a few pints tomorrow, and may come across it then, so I thought I'd warm up a little! :D ;)

Sorry to hear about your hot water situation but I'm glad you were proactive in finding out what was wrong !
