Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm not religious, but I usually abstain from something for Lent - just for hypocrisy's sake ;) Usually I give up alcohol and/or sugar, or cakes, and I thought maybe this year I'd give up the croissants I enjoy at Charlie's cafe, but that seems a bit easy, and then I had the idea of giving up meat for a month! What do you reckon Guardians, do you think I can do it, is it a really stupid idea? Maybe I should just give up sausages, or pies, or maybe that is too easy too  What do you think?

Certainly not giving up my Hartshead Barlow ;)

Jack the fact that you are thinking about it goes a long way. Fish and chips will get old very fast 🤣. I have faith in what ever your decision.

Was gonna say give up the HHB, but then read the bottom of your post. That would be hard, huh, Jack?

Did you used to be a mailman Paul, I have quite a few mates who do that here (and another in Amsterdam)! :) Please let us know about your gifted condiment! :D Cool pic

LOL! :D

Just about every middle-aged man I know is, but more than half of them refuse to wear glasses! :D I'm always chiding Tool Man about it, particularly as he's always wanting to borrow mine. I laughed like anything when he told me he couldn't order food, fill in his discharge papers, or read in the hospital, because he hadn't taken his specs with him! 🤣

That's the old Leeds Corn Exchange Paul, it's a spectacular building :)

They were very good Paul, but I doubt they cost much to make. They charged me $1.50 for maple syrup, and I was expecting a small jug of it, rather than just a thin pouring! :D

I hope everyone is having a good day :) Just had a chicken & mushroom pie ;) Got a bottle of wine open too :)

This is pretty popular here, but I'm not particularly impressed

It's a shame it's just full of shops! I did find some Yorkshire stuff there for Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright , but the Royal Mail STILL aren't shipping! 😠

Thanks Bob, I was thinking I'd have to forego the fish too!

It would be cruel on the Barlow Vince! ;)

Yeah, but if that's what it takes to preserve some of these grand old buildings...its better than having them fall into disrepair or worse yet, get torn down and replaced by something far less awesome.

True, and I'm not sure they could find a better use for it. In the 1980's, it was very run-down, and a mate of mine told me his dad had a 'lock-up' storage unit in there, and that there was still corn all over the floor. When I moved to Leeds, in 2002, it was thriving, with independent traders. Then some half-wit decided to kick out the traders, and turn it into a food-hall, which was an absolute disaster. They struggled to get the traders back, and it must have taken 15 years to get it looking something like it was  The lower ground floor is still empty though :(

Thank you, my friend. :)

I have to give up meat every Friday during Lent... that hard enough.
I couldn't imagine giving it up completely... that would be impossible for me.
But good luck to you...
Do you John? Well, I was thinking, I am vegetarian until lunchtime usually, as I generally have tea and buttered toast for my breakfast, in fact I usually have margarine on my toast! :D So...I really don't know, but it might be memorable to try! :D I'm still thinking about it, so welcome all thoughts and opinions

I'm thinking, no meat, no fish, no eggs (except as ingredients), no milk (except as an ingredient). Not sure about cheese. Bit of a challenge, but that's the point isn't it? Really not sure how hard it'll be, not easy I reckon, but I stopped smoking, and have stopped drinking, taking sugar, drinking coffee, for months at a time in the past. Whatdo you think Guardians, am I up to it?
