Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm not so sure its showing well enough using the phone, but here goes :D
View attachment 981148 Maybe it's just me being a fussy Freddie
but when I compare it to my other lambsfoot knives it's definitely not as crisp. :)

Definitely not as it should be Dave, how do you think it happened? It doesn't look too bad to me though, maybe once you've sharpened the knife again, it'll have a nice point again too

I must have hit something with the tip, don't know.. If I'm doing rough stuff I usually use the rosewood, this one is for lighter use. oh well carry on :p
I was concerned that there would be a right way of bringing the tip back, so I don't bugger it up anymore. ;) The blade is sharp so as you say, after a few sharpenings it will bounce back.

Weather forecast isn't great here, but I'm heading out for a hike tomorrow, and I'll be carrying these two with me :) Hope everyone has a great weekend  My internet connection has been absolutely terrible today, so I'm hoping it settles down again (it's never great, but it really has been bad, taken me ages to upload these pics o_O)

Yeah, it happens sometimes :( I've had one or two which look like they've been dropped. In that case, you can either take a file to the angled end of the blade, or round it off and make the best of it :( In this case though, it'll hopefully be OK after the edge has been sharpened again

I think so, thanks Dave - well I HOPE so! I'm only doing a few miles and won't be carrying much. It's been feeling OK today :) I really appreciate everyone's concern and good wishes :)

Thank you GT! I bet you knew that lithe and lissome were kissing cousin words, but I had to look the second one up!
I'm sure I had to look it up SOMETIME, Joshua. But my vocabulary  (and my waistline ) continues to expand as I get older.;)

Thanks GT for the stag compliment! I’ve used Benadryl, calamine, ivydry, and a couple of others. It just has to run it’s course! The Rosewood model I have has numerous issues. Mind you nothing that keeps it from functioning as intended. The issues include gaps between the liners and the spring. Burrs on the liners, I took care of the ones I could get to without disassembling the knife. The blade slightly rubs one of the liners when closed and the blade is crinked on at least a 10 deg angle when open. But in the immortal words of Doug Marcaida, “It will cut!” :D
Thanks for describing some of your big rosewood's issues, Ron. But it functions as intended, and all the rest is icing on the cake. ;)

...
Yeah, or maybe someone had just heard the name before, and thought 'That'll do!' :D
...
They really haven't put much thought into it have they, the scales are just bought in?
I guess Wright's do have some puzzling idiosyncrasies.

I haven't seen that film in ages GT, but really enjoyed it when it first came out :)
I think almost any film that included Faye Dunaway had an advantage with me. ;)

Yes, and if you do the same with the Latin, it just sounds like a digital format! :D
Hmmm, CDCAP ... I see what you mean, Jack.:D

That's some nice-looking Rosewood my friend

Carrying one today in fact, non-standard polished blade on this one :)

Yip I'm a mild/porters chap myself even throughout the summer months.
You've caught the colours in the grain of the Union Jack great there

Everyones doing rosewood today so I thought I'd join in

Given my preference for less hops, maybe I should just quaff Colt 45 Malt Liquor!
Thanks for the Union Jack compliment, David; you've added a worthy knife to the rosewood round-up!:thumbsup::thumbsup: And that stone carving and the background you provided are intriguing.:cool: (The carving looks quite similar to the ram's head in the Guardians' "banner" that many people display in their signature lines.)

Awesome! I have a lot of homework to follow up on, love the history.:cool:
We have our own sculpture as well have a look. :D https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/big-head-sculpture

Sheffield Crayon Sharpener. :D

Wow, that elicits some good memories, Barrett.:thumbsup::cool: When my daughter was young, almost every Sunday afternoon started with lunch while watching Star Trek: TNG reruns, followed by "playing Barbies" (for what sometimes seemed to me to be interminable sessions), followed by coloring together on facing pages of one of her coloring books.

Outstanding photo of your ACL, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

Have a good day Guardians! :)

Epitome of ebony, Ron! Black gold!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This thread is SO susceptible to suggestion!:D:D:cool: Dave brings out the big guns in one of his superb pics, and suddenly everyone's rambling on about cannons they have known!:cool::p:p

They definitely are my friend, to use a Lambsfoot is to love it ;) :D

:thumbsup: And, for me, to love a lambsfoot is to use it. (I think that's different. ;))

There's a statue in downtown Austin; wouldn't it make a nice blade etch for a Lambsfoot blade? :D;)

The woman who saved Austin. This bronze commemorates the woman who fired a cannon to stop the transfer of state archives by Republic of Texas President Sam Houston in 1842. Most historians believe Eberly is the primary reason Austin remained the capital of Texas.

This rendition shows a more petite portrait, but no less formidable!

No questions regarding "concealed carry" for her! The illustration would be an excellent one for the phrase "point blank"! What were those document transfer guys thinking???

It is getting difficult to keep up with my favorite threads. Not only is life in general quite busy but you all are becoming a rather talkative bunch. :p
...
I pulled this one out today to accompany me. ... The horn has shrunken considerably, exposing the edges of the liners.

Preach it, Brother Dylan!:thumbsup: Sorry to hear that shrinkage has hit your 2018 horn Guardians knife. ;) Doesn't look TOO bad in that pic.:thumbsup:

...
I've found that my stock buffalo horn lambsfoot has some seasonal shrinkage. The pins go from flush to noticeable and one of the covers starts to pull away at the non-pivot end. Last year I used some mineral oil and this year I instead applied some mineral oil and beeswax "wood balm" that I use to finish my carvings. I don't know if it's the milder summer we are having or the balm, but my lambsfoot doesn't seem to have as much shrinkage this year. The wax makes it nice and shiny for a while, too, but that's starting to wear off after its usual frequent pocket time.
Thanks for the reminder of your "potion", Greg.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Pre vinegar bath, post flitz shine.

Etch is still there, picture just didn't show it.

Gave it an oiling and it lightened up the patina a lot.View attachment 979841
New life for a used knife, Taylor; I enjoyed these WIP pics!:cool::thumbsup:

I haven’t carried this one in a while. I hope all you Guardians have a great day! :D

Friday’s nearly here folks. I hope everyone has a good weekend ahead.
I haven't had a single ear of fresh corn this year!:( Hope yours is delectable, Greg!:thumbsup:

Thanks GT. That’s our pup Pearl
:thumbsup: Do you have a pearl knife, too? ;)

Spooky!:cool: I see the head of a chimp below the surface of the horn (and its face, at first just ghostly, turned a whiter shade of pale)!!!:thumbsup::p

I've been reluctant to Lambsfoot, but when a week ago stumbled upon this Taylor's Eye Witness for exceptionally small price I couldn't resist. After a little care and few days of using I can say you've got new guardian. Lambsfoot is a very nice, practical and beautiful pattern!
