Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm hoping that the weather is going to be better here tomorrow than it is today, as it can be cold in the market even when the temperatures are moderate. Ray, our mate on the next stall, is still away, so it'll just be me and Tool Man, and the usual crowd calling by for a few minutes or half an hour at a time. The regulars are thinning out due to old age, and the declining attraction of the market itself. I dare say Special Needs Scott will call in around lunchtime, on a break from his litter-picking job, hoping to snaffle a few chips (the ones Tool Man is supposed to be paying for!). Otley Mick is a bus-driver, and as the market is next to the bus-station, he's sure to pass by. I think Ex-Para Steve will be down, and Aggo I hope. It'll be a rare Thursday if we're not pestered by Danny Dinner Service 😖 I'm going to take Big Bex down with me :)

Hope you have a good market day tomorrow, Jack.

Nice weather here today (and for the last few days). The shoveled-snow pile next to the driveway will be completely gone by this afternoon (though the yard beneath looks pretty rough at the moment, and will need a bit of sprucing up).

Scout and I were out running some errands earlier, and we stopped to walk around a local park a bit. I’ve driven through this park (and taken the girls to a big playground there, which was closed today, to Scout’s disappointment), but I hadn’t seen this old farmhouse before, which is currently being propped up to keep it from collapsing. Hopefully they have a plan for a more permanent (and better looking) form of reinforcement.

The white sign had been blown or knocked over, so I set it back upright.

Enjoyed some ice-cold sweet tea when we got back home.

Looking good Barrett.
Agreed, the engineers have to come up with a better solution to the bracing.

Afternoon Guardians, it's another hot one here today close to 80° already.
Yikes, that would be a warm summer day here Steve! :D
Have to take Cassie in to the vet for a vaccination and then probably take her for her first swim of the year to cool off 👍

Carrying Stripey today

Thanks a lot Barrett, I'll see if I can get Tool Man to put his hand in his pocket for the chips! ;) Cool old farmhouse, I was just about to ask how old it was  Here, I'm afraid a house that old would almost certainly just get demolished :( Those are some great pics, the covers of your new Eric Lamb really catch the light nicely :)
Newest addition to the flock. 😀

Really interesting to see another US-made Lambsfoot  Did they have much to say about the pattern?

It's now up to 85° but it's supposed to cool back down for the weekend with snow in the forecast for Sunday evening o_O

That's Minnesota weather though ;)

Hope Cassie goes on OK :) Cool pic of Stripey

Thanks Jack !

Cassie did okay, she gets scared going to the vet ever since she was fixed, it was a Bordetella vaccine which is just a nasal spray so no jab

She got to go swimming so she was very happy :) There is still some ice on the lake but she didn't care .

Thanks Jack. These knives are from Napanoch part of the Daniel’s family line. I think they began making knives with a lambsfoot blade last year. The secondary tool on mine is a cap lifter. Harvey has a really cool one called the Game Warden with a saw as the secondary tool. Mine was a SFO for FB club which I’m not a member but was able to find elsewhere at what I believe was the club cost. They are well made knives imho. They are a bit wide with the added CL.

I'm just having a few medjoul dates with my morning coffee :) These are delicious, but I bought some, by weight, yesterday, which might have been the best I've ever had, so I'll be picking up a few more this afternoon ;)

Those do look plump and delicious Jack.
What would the world be without half-wits ?
Well it would for sure be a world without government officials.

Cool old farmhouse ruins. Interesting and "not too subtle" bracing. I've been reading up on the Afzelia tree and variations. That has to be some of the most beautiful exotic burl on the planet. 👍

Have fun at the market Jack.

Good luck! 🤣

Here’s some more info I found online. The first link has a bunch of photos (obviously taken before it was fenced off for stabilization).

And here’s a photo of the farmhouse from 1936.

Interesting knife. That looks like some pretty thick blade stock on that Lambsfoot blade!

That’s great, Steve! You’ve got a lot more open water there than we have on Minnetonka. Here’s a (not very good) pic I took today.

Not subtle at all! 🤣 That burl reminded me a bit of your spalted covers with the green in them. Nice photo of your HHB!
