Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks a lot Pete :D

Having problems with my multi-quoting! :D That's a looker Pete  Interesting info too buddy

Chunky monkey Ed :D ;)

Wow, that's a great pic Bob

Good morning Guardians, me and Wee Staggy are ready to hit the road (I just have to wash a few dishes, and take the rubbish out). Because of the 3 1/2 hour flight, the 2 hour hour time difference, and the transfer time, it'll be time for bed by the time I get to my hotel! Have a good week Guardians, and I'll try to keep in touch as best I can

Be sure to exercise vigorously on the plane so you'll be tired enough to sleep!

Walnut is looking great, Steve.
Bullseye. You kinda know by the chips and salsa phase what is coming up with the next bell ding. Good luck on the hunt Paul.

Hello everyone. Been an interesting few weeks. I hope you all are enjoying the spring weather. I had a special delivery today. Did a little research on Katalox. I am thrilled that it grows from Chiapas Mexico south through Central America. That was Mayan country back in the day and I find them to be a fascinating culture.
Congrats on the Albers. Makes me happy to seeing Guardians with them. Very cool tid bit of info on the wood, Pete.
Thought I'd throw this 2-blade into the mix. They're just a tad heavy but durable and capable for most tasks.

Always liked the multi bladed lambs, Ed. Yours looks like it could handle just about anything thrown at it.
Nice looking kamb to go with a delicous meal, Bob.

Today is the start of my work week and I'm having a great day so far!!! Supposed to get mid 70s today 😃. I should have a couple packages filled with knifeaholic goodness waiting for me when I get home. I have the '19 on apple duty and for whatever might need slicing for the rest of the day. Take care and have a great day Guardians.

I have a Lambsfoot story to share here.

A few months ago I won a Taylor’s Eye Witness lambsfoot on the auction site. It appeared unused and the price was right.
It has the plastic stag “bex” handles which I quite like actually.

The story starts when it arrived, it was the worst and most sloppily fit and finished knife I have ever held, even Pakistani gas station knives for $1.99 blew it out of the water,
the liners stuck out from the scales a solid 1/8 inch around the entire handle,
the gap between the scales and bolsters is big enough to fit two business cards into,
The blade is bent slightly
The pins were extremely proud and sharp,
The nail nick was cut crooked, too far back, and in such a way that there was an overhang of very sharp steel that would trap your nail and tear it every time you opened it, it literally would jam your nail inside it and not want to let it go.
The swedge had a gouge ground into it which appeared to be from the factory as it’s a strange black color where it was gouged,
The pins also extended inside the liners and strongly rub the tang when closing the blade
Bolsters sit very proud above the scales as if they were too thick or the scales too thin
The spring wasn’t close to flush in any position and quite sharp
Liners have large gaps
Blade play is unbelievably excessive

In all it felt like a half completed knife, but the pull wasn’t too heavy and I liked the bones, so I set to work to correct as much as possible. Belt grinder took care of proud liners and spring, as well as prou d pins.
The hardest part was the nail nick, I took a small triangle carbine cutting bit for a brake lathe and mounted it in a flat piece of bamboo, then slowly by hand cut the nail nick out, that took a while and a lot of steady pressure by hand.
Tightened the pivot, sharpened it up and dropped it in my pocket.

I have been carrying it everyday for over a month now and lost it for a day in the couch and found myself missing it dearly. It grew on me very quickly, but shouldn’t have ever left any factory or store in the condition I received it in.
I can hardly wait to get another.

Sorry for the wall of text, my phone is acting strangely and I’m at work so can’t do anything with it for a while.

May the 4th be with you Dwight...but that's a strange Yoda. Great lamb and wonderful piece of art by your wife.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm hoping to catch up later. I had breakfast, and then went for a walk, but it sure is CLOSED here! A lot of the advertised attractions, even the shops, bars, and transport aren't open yet. I went for a walk to buy some bottled water earlier, and walked through empty, pretty rough-looking streets, all lined with shops and bars, for more than 10 minutes before I found a small shop open. For once, I'm glad not to be a young man, but old Jack will be happy enough sitting on the balcony enjoying the spectacular view! 😁👍
