Three treat to start your Sunday: drinking, eating and slicing; love the architectural images you captured in Bulgaria, too!;):thumbsup:
Many thanks JJ :)
I had the larger stag Lamb with me today. :)
Fine-looking Big 'Un my friend :)

Good morning Guardians, I'm dashing to the dentist, and then into town, for lunch with a friend. I got some new pants for the cool copper pen, and Joseph Rodgers Shadow Lamb, Paul @jakeywax gifted me recently :) Have a good day Guardians

Your Shadow is riding in fine fashion Jack. Enjoy your day....after the dentist.😖

Jack Black Jack Black thanks for sharing your vacation photos. Bulgaria certainly seems… interesting. 😉 (I once had a former employer accuse me of using the term “interesting” when I was being too nice to say what I really thought. Usually it was in response to his terrible business ideas, which he came up with all too frequently.) 🤣

While it does seem like a bit of a rough place, I hope you still enjoyed yourself. Seems like you at least met and spent time with some nice folks, and had a bit of peace and quiet with a sea view. I am curious to know if your own country, even with its many problems, maybe seemed just a bit sunnier upon your return? 😉

My wife wanted to do something fun with the girls for Mother’s Day yesterday, so we went to the zoo. We had a nice time, and I thought I’d share a few photos with you all. I started this post last night and intended to finish and post it, but I was worn out and didn’t get it done.)

It was raining in the morning, and continued to do so until around noon, so we did all the inside and/or partly covered bits of the zoo first, starting with the section featuring wildlife that can be found in Minnesota. The wolves were all sleeping (you’ll see that become a theme throughout much of today’s zoo visit).

We got to see the pumas quite close up, but they were also asleep. Here’s Scout taking a look.

They did raise their heads briefly as we were walking away.

We saw a black bear, who was — you guessed it — sleeping.

Eleanor spotted a fisher curled up sleeping inside a small log in its enclosure. The beavers and otters were both moving about, but I was too busy holding up one child or the other so they could see them, and didn’t get any pictures. The skunk and opposum, which share a dimly lit indoor enclosure made to look like a cabin porch, complete with knocked over trash cans for them to rummage through, were nowhere to be seen. No sign of the Canada Lynx, either.

Next we moved on to the Tropics Trail, which is all inside and climate controlled (because, you know, Minnesota isn’t exactly tropical). We pretty much always have to get a picture on the tortoise statue. For whatever reason, lately Eleanor’s default pose for pictures is the “Richard Nixon.” ✌️🙄🤣

Scout liked the dwarf crocodiles.

And the Komodo dragon.

This guy was just having a stroll around, looking for snack. I think it might be my spirit animal. 🤣

This gibbon seemed pretty chill, too.

Back to the sleeping animals, here’s a Malaysian Tapir.

I found a new friend for meako meako .

By this point it seemed to have stopped raining, so after a quick snack, we headed outside. Near the zoo entrance there are snow monkeys.

I also spotted this monkey. 😉

In the background of that picture, you can see what used to be the track for a monorail. That’s been out of service since before we moved here, but they’ve been working on repurposing the track as an elevated walkway, which is supposed to be done this summer and should be interesting.

Here’s my Albers Lamb with a fairy door, one of several in the kids’ play area. You can see another just behind Eleanor in the last pic.

The grizzlies were sleeping (which they always seem to be doing when we’re there), but at least they were out where we could see them.

Same story with the Amur leopard; asleep, but at least where you could see him.

The camels weren’t asleep, but they were being… weird. 😳

Eventually we made it out to the farm area at the back of the zoo. Eleanor made friends with a goat.

ku3992z.jpg

They have several displays showing the different items (food and otherwise) made from cows, pigs, etc. One of the things in the cow display was Whoppers (similar to Maltesers). After we saw that, I tried to convince Eleanor that goats made chocolate covered raisins, and that they keep them fenced in so people couldn’t just go in and eat them for free, but she wasn’t buying it. 🤣

We saw some fresh piglets.

Ironically, just outside the barn with the pigs was a stand selling BBQ ribs and pulled pork. It smelled delicious! 🤣

wJGRGA4.jpg

Eleanor and Scout both got licked by a cow (unfortunately I missed getting pics of that). We saw the rest of the farm animals, including llamas and chickens, and by that point it was getting close to the time the zoo closed, so we headed back toward the entrance.

Today is Scout’s birthday (I’m just finishing up this post between breakfast and heading out to celebrate), so I’ve swapped out my Lambsfoot for her knife and will make a post later in the Totin’ thread. Hope you Guardians are having a good day!

Thanks Jack! Please do the same. I have a rather short week. Leaving here to go visit TXGatorbait TXGatorbait on Thursday to take Pop fishing.

Really looking forward to it.
It sounds like you have a great weekend coming up Pete  Be sure to say Hi to Greg and your Pop from the Guardians :)

LOL! :D Thanks mate :) I got talking to an older couple in the bus station today, and they were complaining about the frequency of the buses. I told them a bit about Bulgaria, and we all agreed that things could, maybe, be a lot worse! :D

Wonderful pics Barrett, thank you for sharing them :) Are they feeding those animals Valium or something?! :D

Interesting variety of species Barrett, even a cheeky monkey! 🤣
