Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Blimey, I ended up having a really hard and stressful day, and didn't even get to see the doc 😣 Thankfully, it turned out to be one of those Yin-Yang days, where most of the day's misery, was rewarded by some incredible kindness :)

All was going OK until around 9.30am, when my doctor rang me. I made an appointment to see her several weeks ago, and my appointment was at 3.10pm. For some reason, she was under the impression that I had booked a telephone appointment, which the docs really LOVE here, despite the fact I have never, ever booked one before. When I told her I had booked an appointment for that afternoon, and I still had the appointment card, as I had booked it in person, she said there was no record of it, quickly said she could fit me in at 4.20pm, and then hung up. I was left feeling rather frustrated, particularly as I had a supermarket delivery booked for 4.30pm. I wasn't sure what on earth was happening, so I wrote a letter to the Practice Manager, delivered it in person, cancelled the appointment, and was told I'd now be waiting a couple of months for another appointment, which I'd have to book at a later date...😤

I had some other frustrating issues to deal with, which I'll not even bother to go into, but after leaving the doctors, I had to walk a couple of miles, in heavy rain, to pick up a parcel, which a courier driver failed to deliver to my house, claiming I wasn't in. He did the same thing with a couple of my neighbours. I reached the shop soaking wet, having phoned ahead, only to be greeted by a 'Back in 5 Minutes' sign on the door! 🤯 Fortunately, I was only standing in the heavy rain for a few minutes, before the proprietor appeared, and I finally took delivery of a very large parcel :)

Do any of you remember the hunt for my yuppie neighbours' cat, which started a few weeks ago? Well it seems the hunt extended even further than I thought, as the shop had one of the 'Missing' posters up in the window. I remarked upon this, and the lady said that she'd heard the cat had been spotted on the next street. Apparently there are all sorts of theories and rumours circulating! 🤔

VHIzXQ7.jpg

The rain began to ease off a little, and I decided to walk back through the park. The first section is downhill, but that means the second half is a steep climb  I saw someone had pitched a tent in the park, they must be desperate, or daft, because most folks wouldn't even walk through there at night, let alone camp there!

qaGOw2b.jpg

I noticed a couple of odd-looking birds, Black-Headed Gulls I suspect (No s$%t Sherlock), but I haven't seen any like this here before.

CLp8gyO.jpg

It seemed Kuki wasn't the only lost pet, and I hoped there wasn't a connection! 😳 Even if that wasn't the case, since the park already has a few parrots, I suspected the chances of this one going home were minimal. Either way, I wasn't ringing a number in Africa, or wherever 'home' is

iOPGbmJ.jpg

I was soaked, but still hadn't had lunch, so I decided to head down to Charlie's :) Unfortunately, Charlie was out getting supplies, and it has to be said that the place kind of goes downhill when he's not there. His sister-in-law does a great job, but is currently back in Sicily, and the Italian lady who works there, barely speaks any English at all, and isn't great in the kitchen either. A new addition has recently been hired, but the young lad is pretty useless, and struggling to learn, as he doesn't speak Italian! 😖 It was after 2pm, and I was desperately hungry though, so I made do, and sat and recovered a little, before trudging up the hill again

More on the goodie-packed parcel elsewhere, but suffice to say, opening it severely improved my mood! However, when I arrived home, there was another box waiting, filled with staggering treasure....

The second parcel was sent by our friend Bob Rufus1949 Rufus1949 ....and it contained....

My world has been WABOOMED! What an incredibly generous gift  I'm extremely grateful Bob, and also pleased to be able to get a look at one of these knives, the quality, even judged against other custom knives, is absolutely incredible  I'm really looking forward to getting out, and taking some better pics :)

Well Guardians, it's getting on for 8pm here in Yorkshire, and I still have a heap of stuff to do, otherwise Nobber Al will be celebrating the 4th of July on his own, so I'll love you, and leave you, for tonight, as we say here. With a big thanks to Bob, and wishing everyone a pleasant evening :)

Sorry to hear about your trials to your patience today Jack. I hope tomorrow brings you better fortune and enjoyment with Nobber.
My blood pressure would be at an all time high after a day like yours.

Afternoon Guardians! Seems Monday has been a odd day. Ended pulling up the garlic and hanging it to cure. 19 standing guard.

Good news and bad news.

Good news is I landed a dream knife of mine. A stag HHB!!!!! I loved this knife before I ever had the pleasure of getting to know Jack or all of you fine Guardians. Now that I have, it makes this knife ever more special to me. I held Barrett's HHB at the Badger Show and it was lamb perfection. I pretty much told myself that I would probably never own one. I recently was given the opportunity to get one and I pounced. What a great example of a lambsfoot. Jack Black Jack Black knocked it out of the park with this one as he has done with all of his SFOs.

Bad news. My dad is fighting a pretty severe case of pneumonia. I am staying with him at the hospital tonight. He is doing better and the doctor informed us that he is on his way to recovery. Hard to believe that we almost lost him. I am grateful and relieved that he is on the mend and didn't wait another day to come in.
