Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Here's a few photos from Sunday at the Carnival in my local park. As you can see the weather was pretty dull...

I'm not sure what the topic of this conversation between Wolfie, and his eldest lad, Amos, was here, but I think Amos's expression in the second photo is hilarious! :D I suspect it was something like, "Can you have some money for the fairground rides? What, when you earn £120 a day busking?!" Or maybe, that old classic, "When you bringing your girlfriend home?" :D

Heaven knows what these two 'heid-the-baws' were talking about! :D That's Wolfie's brother, who we call Brother Tony, on the left.

The sun came out a little later, for a bit :)

Saw about a dozen of these disappearing into the sky, over the course of the afternoon  Fortunately, the music drowned out the attendant wailing! ;)

My mate Matt. I've known him so long, I still sometimes call him 'Little Matt'! :D

Matt's two kids :)

Monday is the main day of Carnival, so it was back for more fun, rum, and a promise of sun! :) Unfortunately, the latter failed to appear, so we compensated with more rum, and beer! 🍻

I found myself back at the park, where I'd arranged to meet Matt and his family :)

They were on the other side of this lot!

It didn't take me long to find them though :) The dance troupes were starting to assemble, and be given their place in the parade, which was starting to line up back on the road...

This little girl was already dancing like crazy! :)

The Carnival Parade takes a long circular route around the area, and the past couple of years, we've watched it near Matt's house, as it starts to make its way back towards the park. On the way there though, we came across the Samba band, who were playing outside Charlie's last year  They've got their own shirts now! And dancers! :)

(Let's have another go! 🤬)

A lot of folks had the same idea of going to watch the parade on the main road...

While others were still arriving from town (the smoke is from a couple of hundred barbecues!)...

It's funny how you can spot who is from the area, and who isn't, very easily, but everybody is welcome :D

A lot of the locals make a little extra money from the Carnival, and not everyone can afford a £1,000 a day to put up a small pitch

Situated, halfway down the road, Charlie's Cafe was in a good position to make some money, and without having to pay Carnival Tax ;)

It was only when the trucks from the parade began to come up the road, we realised that they were only going to be using half the road, which is just crazy 🤯

This was about as close as I could get! :(

Lots of the dancers abandoned the route, and just walked up the hill like everybody else :(

The parade passed much quicker than usual, and a lot of folks just walked by on the other side of the road :(

Looks like someone has escaped from Leeds Market! :D

Ah, but his keepers are here!

Time to head back to the park, for more rum and beer ;)

1,000 pounds/day?!! Note, for some odd reason, my computer doesn't appear to have the sign used to designate the pound o_O
Anyway, we have festivals around here and I don't think a space (pitch?) usually cost more than $150-$200. These are typically in smaller towns, but still, a thousand pounds seems like a lot 😧

Well, he only does an hour at a time, but that's what he's been making. Maybe if he was there for longer, they'd get tired of hearing him! :D

It's outrageous isn't it Mike  I don't know if you get anything with that, like electricity perhaps, but even so :( Twenty years ago, I don't think many folks paid anything, just set up a stall in their garden, or on the street corner
