Absolutely! There was a competitor from Leeds at this year's 4th of July contest at Nathan's, and I'd bet Tool Man can out eat that guy, at least.I keep saying toolman should enter a spam sammich contest and make some $$$.

That's a Rick portion.... lmao. I don't eat them often, but when it's pancake time look out.A toolman portion
You are on the right path Rick. Nice work.Wow!!!.... what a great looking knife. Off the charts. Whoever made that one loves their job. Seriously. Beautiful wood.

Acorns have been piling up over the last week so I finally get to play around with dying bone. These were some inexpensive pre-jigged redbone scales that soaked in acorn water over the weekend and went into vinegaroon yesterday. Soupy helped quite a bit with preparing the acorns.

They came out well. Dark with some red highlights that I can't really picture. I'll call them highlights instead of uneven dying! Haha I'm going to have to make more ferrous acetate (fancy words now!) and filter it more than last time in order to dye the good pieces of bone.
It works on wood too. Here is a chunk of dogwood.

One of these days maybe I'll make something worth while, but untill then it's just fun learning all this stuff.
Have a good day everyone!
I haven't tried leather dye yet. I did try dropping those red scales into wood stain (overnight) and it didn't even start to dye them. It washed right off.use leather dye.
Your method is closer to the old craftsman's way.I haven't tried leather dye yet. I did try dropping those red scales into wood stain (overnight) and it didn't even start to dye them. It washed right off.
it's just not as fun as making rusty vinegar and acorn water, then watching the reaction happen! Haha.
Now write: "This thread is about a specific pattern" 100 times! Thanks for clarifying for me Jack.
Thanks for the chuckle Vince! Now write: "This thread is about a specific pattern" 100 times!
Ah, those were the days!It reminded me of getting cracked on the knuckles by a nun with her ruler. Then having to writing 100 times I WILL NOT TALK IN CLASS.
Another day in the office. A messy office I might add. Hope you all enjoy your day

Good morning Guardians. Got back yesterday from my trip up north to NJ for my sister-in-law's funeral. Was able to reconnect with family and friends. Very sad but such is life. Leaving today for Boston. A planned vacation to New England. Hoping that we can dodge Hurricane Lee. We shall see. Leaving my HHB and Senator at home. Will be taking something more waterproof made of titanium and stainless steel. Recycled HHB photo.

Way to go Jeff! When I was about 15 I ate 17 of my Grammy's Bisquick pancakes at one breakfast sitting. Plenty of whole milk and bacon with 'em.

Thanks it's been fun. No i don't recall seeing anything but might have. Where was this?Did you see Leon's experiments with bone a few months back Rick?
Jack that ”Fawlty Towers” hotel in Blackpool video had some laughs though. The Steam Rally sounds interesting. I hope the Ted Do goes great.I've just spoke to Tool Man, and I'm afraid I owe the Guardians an apology due to my confusion about his social calendar. I had thought he had been to the Ted Do at the weekend, but it turns out he was actually at a Steam Rally, and the Ted Do is in fact next weekend! This probably explains why I haven't been able to find any Ted videos on YouTube!
