On this lazy Sunday Kristy & I went out last night, saw 1 of my favourite blues performers Ash Grunwald, didn't know it was going to be a solo performance brilliant. Took my eldest & her boyfriend along for a bit of an education. Very intimate venue only about 150. An old theatre that is set up old style tables & dinner & show. Table service & pay the tab at the end of the night 😁very civilised.
This was I of my favourites of the night.

Sounds like a great night out.
I looked Grunwald up, reminds me of Derek Trucks

Julie and I had tickets to see my favorite band play in St. Paul tonight. Before the show we grabbed dinner at a southern restaurant we’d been meaning to try. We had a couple drinks and started with the Nashville hot fries with blue cheese crumbles and ranch. (My Katalox Albers got to tag along for dinner, but had to stay in the car during the concert.)

We shared a couple entrees, Julie got chicken and waffles and I got 1/2 a fried chicken and mac and cheese. As someone who was born and raised in the south, I am (justifiably, I think) skeptical of southern food here in Minnesota, but this place was pretty legit.

(I only realized after the fact that my chicken was not very artfully arranged on the plate for this pic, but it sure did taste good. The chicken and waffles were great, too.)

After that light meal, we headed over to the venue.

The last time I saw these guys was 5 years ago on my birthday at this same theater, not long after we’d moved to Minnesota. The last time I’d tried to see them was two years ago, when I drove back home to Arkansas where they were headlining the first night of a two day bluegrass festival. My buddy and I showed up extra early, we were standing right by the stage, then after the opening act finished, someone came out and announced that Old Crow wouldn’t be playing because someone in the band tested positive for Covid. So that was certainly a disappointment, but in the end it made me even more excited to finally get to see them again tonight.

The show was great. I’ve seen Old Crow a bunch of times going back to 2005 or so at a little dive bar/music venue in Fayetteville, AR, and they never disappoint. The opening act, a band called Them Coulee Boys from Eau Claire, WI, were great, too. Here’s a pic of both bands playing on stage together to close out the show.

We had a great time at the river. It's a beautiful day here and Cassie got some great swimming in 👍

Stunning photos Steve, it looks like Cassie is having a ball :) What lovely weather
I’ve been giving my newest (to me) Albers Lamb
some pocket time this week. I almost never used pocket slips before I got my Afzelia Burl Albers earlier this year, but it was just so good looking that I couldn’t bring myself to just drop it in my pocket with everything else, so I’ve been using a slip from @JohnDF to keep that one safe.

I don’t know if the Curly Katalox will get the same treatment long term, but I had this new slip from the Barlow Bearcat Club, so I figured I’d break both in at the same time.

(Despite not really using pocket slips, I still find myself buying them.) 🙄😁
That's a great photo Barrett :)
Pumpkin patch with the kids and a new pizza place. Got the horn lamb. Will report on the 🍕 later.

Superb re-cover of your Lamb Paul, great character to that horn  I hope the pizza was good 😋 My favourite local pizza joint was on the other side of time, but the owner decided to retire about a year ago. I still haven't found a replacement :(
Thank you Jack and John, Beni did very well at work today . . . smoooooth cutting!

That's some superb pile-side stag Jeff
Great to see your AC Dwight, very cool pic

Bobstag looking good Mitch :) Sounds like a great night out, they trusted you not to scarper?! 🤣 What did the kids think? What is the name of the track Mitch, the video doesn't show here, (which is probably a regional copyright issue), but hopefully I can find it :)
They might not be your cup of tea, but on Youtube look up The High Jivers. An American blues/rockabilly band with a modern twist. See what you think.
I'll check those out too Leon, looks like I have a Sunday playlist! :)
Sounds like a great night out.

And another addition! :D Thanks Bob

What a fantastic night out Barrett, you must have been stoked to see the band  I can understand you being sceptical about Southern food transplanted to Minnesota :D Is it common to serve chicken on sliced bread like that, kind of reminds me of the Blues Brothers?! I'm glad it was good :) Looks like Julie was the designated driver! :D

(Might have to watch that movie later! :D)

After that light meal, we headed over to the venue.

Oh no! That must have been terrible! 😦 I feel for you brother ☹️

That looks like a lot of fun, glad you and Julie had a wonderful time :)

Good morning Guardians, how's your weekend going (I know in a couple of cases, the answer will be "GONE!" :D)? I hope everyone is having a good one :) Apart from the early loss of too many leaves, my neighbourhood escaped the storm pretty lightly, and it looks like a nice day today :) I spent way to much time on my feet yesterday though, and I've no plans today, other than doing some reading, checking out some of that Blues, and reacquainting myself with the sofa! :D I could do with getting some groceries, but I manage without them for today ;) Of course I need something to CF, and I think my Yorkshire Rose fits the bill :) Enjoy your Sunday Guardians :)
