Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks Jack,.
Evening all.. Nachos for dinner using left over burrito mince & salsa.
20231025_183331.jpg.I forgot, yesterday when I had my coffee I took a picture from my outside corner seat.. To the left is normally a bunch of tables for the Cafe & next door burger joint for outdoor dining. The centre had the boards oiled.

Leeds eh? Interesting TEW Rick  I had a similar TEW Lamb with that same resin-bonded wood laminate, which was around in Sheffield at one time, but mine had a fluted front bolster. Taylor's have been producing Shadow-pattern Lambs for a long time, since the 70's I think, in an effort to economise. That cover material is quite nice isn't it? I used something similar myself at one time, but the supply dried up. TEW may just have decided to use something cheaper. I think I have a 70's TEW catalogue, so I'll have a look, if I get a chance, later. Might be a bit later than that, but I think you have the right time-frame Rick
The catalogue is from the 60's, rather than the 70's, as I'd thought. There are 6 Lambsfoot knives in the TEW range at that time, including a Shadow, but the description is very vague, as you can see. A shame TEW stopped using carbon steel, as their steel was very good, in my experience

Hope you're having a good day, Jack.
Thanks John, I'm having a very quiet one :D Wolfie came round, late morning, and we had coffee and biscuits. I had a few things for him. After lunch, I was going to go out, but I have a new camera arriving, so I'm going to wait in for that. Just been sharpening and oiling my Hartshead Barlow, and doing some reading :) Hope you're having a good one yourself my friend :)
That looks just like a Lambsfoot should :)

Leeds eh?
it is difficult (actually darn near impossible) to find old lambsfoot knives anywhere. Even the scant few in mediocre condition have been priced out of my comfort zone. Branched out a little bit and found this one from a seller in Leeds. Not exactly a collection piece, but cooler than buying a new Taylor's in my opinion. I do really like the looks of their 4" black imitation stag with the flat ended blade... But again I don't want to put the money out for something from an economical line from a company I have no experience with.

It is! It was pretty rough and crusty but a quick scrub and a little oil brought it right back. It is very... Grippy. Even more so when wet. I like it.

Thank you for taking the time to find that catalog image, Jack. It seems correct. I'd have to measure the knife but it is a wee bit smaller than the wrights so I'm guessing it's the right listing. Very cool!

It is also nice that it is thinner and has that wayyyy back swayback. I like it quite a bit. The steel did take a nice edge, as you say, and I'm curious to give that edge a good test later in the week.

Thanks again and have a good day!

Good morning Guardians. Not sunny this morning but very pleasant, good morning for coffee on the deck. 😎👍View attachment 2367805
That's a great pic Todd
Good morning everyone. I’ve enjoyed all the lambs from the last few days. Here’s my newest, recovered from Glenn.

That's some gorgeous stag Jon, have you got a 'before' photo by any chance?

Just a few years ago, by far the most common knives I found on market stalls and junk shops here were Lambsfoot knives. I don't think I ever paid so much as £5 for one. We have certainly become victims of our own success Guardians! I wonder if I know the seller (probably not) 🤷‍♂️

It's a shame they don't use it today

No worries Rick, after I went and dug out the catalogue, and photographed it, I realised I had it as a PDF! 😖 Obviously, they may have done the same model over a number of years

Let us know how you find it mate :) Thanks, you too
