Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It doesn't surprise me Barrett, every shop in Sheffield has its own resident beggar! Years ago, there was a feller who used to walk around with an empty gas people, asking people if they could "lend" him a couple of Pounds as he'd supposedly just broken down while taking the kids to school! 🤔

Sorry, Jack, I just realized as I read your response that I started typing that story and didn’t finish it before posting! 🙄🤣 Anyways, I had just arrived at the station (the evening before you and I met up) and stopped to get my bearings and makes sure I headed in the right direction for my hotel. The guy stopped me and asked if I could give him a couple pounds. I literally couldn’t, as I hadn’t even gotten any cash yet at that point. He proceeded to give me his whole sob story — lost his job, mom was sick, needed money for this or that, etc. I tried to politely get away, but he probably kept me there for at least a few minutes. It was only after the fact that it occurred to me he could’ve had an accomplice who couldn’t easily stolen something out of my pocket or backpack while he had me distracted. I stopped and checked and everything seemed to be there. Thankfully I have a habit of looping the zipper pulls on my backpack together when I travel. Certainly not foolproof, but it’d be hard to get in there quickly and/or without being noticed.

Afternoon Guardians. I'm in cardiac ICU getting a blood transfusion lots of medicine and hoses running everywhere. The staff is taking very good care of me. I have Kat with me so all is good atm. Hope yawl are having a good weekend.

Hate to hear that. 🙁 Hope you can get out of there soon, and have a Merry Christmas.

It's a drizzly dreary day here and not looking very Christmassy 🙄

Managed to get a nice walk in after lunch.

It is looking decidedly un-Christmassy. 🫤

It was like 50 today!!!! Not a lick of the white stuff on the ground. Finished up some last minute Christmas stuff for the kids. I have to wrap more stuff 😂. HHB today.

I don’t know about over your way, Paul, but it looks like we’re gonna have a wet Christmas rather a white one here. 🙄 If that’s the case for you, too, I hope the family isn’t too disappointed.

Calling for a decent amount of rain. Just a 90% chance 🤣🤣. All I kept telling my wife was how cold the winters were here. She called me a wimp the other day. I said ok…ok…you just wait sweet pea 😂

This is a bit of an awkward one for me.

Today the postman dropped off a knife that belonged to a Guardian that I never had the opportunity to get to know as he sadly passed away not long after I was bitten by the traditional (and by association, the lambfoot) bug.

What I know to be true is that he was more of a photographer than I'll ever be - an artist that was able to deftly capture the spirit of a knife in visual form. The knife I received was a regular subject of his, no doubt because of the bold and very recognizable characteristics of its figure.

Even as a relative newcomer to the lambfoot community, I recognized it immediately (from my reading through of past posts in this thread) when I caught sight of it languishing unceremoniously among a collection of toys, jewelry, games, clothing, and other assorted sundries in the collection of a seller on a well-known auction site.

After watching it sit for over a week, I started to become concerned that it may be removed for sale, or purchased by someone unaffiliated with this community, and never seen again. I made the seller an offer, they accepted, and here we are.

My picture doesn't do it justice. In fact, it doesn't even approach the quality of the numerous extant photos of it in this very thread. All I can say is that I'll try my best to continue to allows its light to shine for lovers of beautiful lambfoot knives.

I sincerely wish I'd had the opportunity to know this knife's previous owner as he seemed to be a gentle, caring, and compassionate soul - alas, such is life. I'll keep that soul in mind each time I carry and use it.

I'm certain that the majority of you longtime Guardians will recognize it and hope you will be able to overlook my ham-fisted photographic fumblings where it's concerned. Thank you in advance.

A very nice tribute to Harvey. You captured the lamb's character very well Will.
It's nice you brought it back home to be admired again.👌

Very nice post. Just make sure that every once in awhile you take a photo of it with a donut or some type of pastry. 😉👍
Well said and I don't think you should feel awkward at all. I'm sure Harvey would be happy to know that some of his Lambs are ending up with the Guardians for safe keeping !

Nice picture as well ! 👍
Couldn’t agree more. 😎👍

All very impressive Bill 😎👍

Also impressive Jer 🙂👍

Thanks Kevin, the rain took everyone by surprise. Back to normal tomorrow hopefully 😊👍

Stellar work Steve 😋 It must be 25 years since I last made shortbread. I went through a 6-month long intense baking phase, but I was putting on too much weight! 😁👍

Cool pic Todd, have fun with the kids my friend 😊👍

I had a walk to a local cafe, which I'd seen recommended for their coffee and cakes. Changed hands unfortunately, no cakes, and less than mediocre coffee! 🤔

Wee Staggy taking it easy 😉👍
