This is a bit of an awkward one for me.
Today the postman dropped off a knife that belonged to a Guardian that I never had the opportunity to get to know as he sadly passed away not long after I was bitten by the traditional (and by association, the lambfoot) bug.
What I know to be true is that he was more of a photographer than I'll ever be - an artist that was able to deftly capture the spirit of a knife in visual form. The knife I received was a regular subject of his, no doubt because of the bold and very recognizable characteristics of its figure.
Even as a relative newcomer to the lambfoot community, I recognized it immediately (from my reading through of past posts in this thread) when I caught sight of it languishing unceremoniously among a collection of toys, jewelry, games, clothing, and other assorted sundries in the collection of a seller on a well-known auction site.
After watching it sit for over a week, I started to become concerned that it may be removed for sale, or purchased by someone unaffiliated with this community, and never seen again. I made the seller an offer, they accepted, and here we are.
My picture doesn't do it justice. In fact, it doesn't even approach the quality of the numerous extant photos of it in this very thread. All I can say is that I'll try my best to continue to allows its light to shine for lovers of beautiful lambfoot knives.
I sincerely wish I'd had the opportunity to know this knife's previous owner as he seemed to be a gentle, caring, and compassionate soul - alas, such is life. I'll keep that soul in mind each time I carry and use it.
I'm certain that the majority of you longtime Guardians will recognize it and hope you will be able to overlook my ham-fisted photographic fumblings where it's concerned. Thank you in advance.
