I really like that. Makes me think of Westinghouse Micarta. Very rich butterscotch.Happy New Years Eve guardians!
I'm late posting this (there never seem to be enough hours in the day lately), so I apologize.
I went back and forth over having the lambfoot thatJack Black gifted me re-covered... But in the end, I just couldn't bring myself to have a gift knife modified. So instead, I had my desert ironwood Guardians knife recovered! The knife had some fairly plain desert ironwood, large gaps, and a pretty off-centered blade, so I thought it was a good candidate.
The original plan was to use some vintage, U.K. made tufnol that I pulled off a ship's block (pulley), but it ended up being a bit too thin. So instead, we used some vintage, U.K. made Tufnol from the aircraft industry. The patina isn't as heavy, but it's a lovely material.
The work was done by the very talented David, who goes by Slipjoint_spa on instagram. One of the best parts about dealing materials is the wonderfully skilled makers you meet. It wasn't possible to completely fix some of the fit issues, but they have been greatly improved. I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out.
