Every time I see toffee wings I want to get out the sandpaper reach out and give her a smoothing out 😉

Another bitter cold day here with wicked windchill 🥶

Cassie and I had some excitement today when we surprised a Coyote on the trail by my house. Cassie scared it off but held fast when I told her to hold. The last run in with a Coyote was when she was just a year old and she gave chase and scared the crap out of me. The coyote took off across the pond, which is finally frozen over and watched us from a distance as we walked the trail around the pond.

Not a great picture as I had to use the zoom on my phone.

Lilly just finished the Peugoet today & brought it out to show us, still likes doing Lego.

Very nice! I’ve done a few Lego sets with Eleanor over the last few years, and the big Home Alone house that I bought for myself and built over Christmas; they’ve certainly gotten more complicated since I was a kid, and those ones look even more so!

I can’t even imagine dealing with the freezing temperatures out there. It’s was in the low 40’s this morning here in Santa Cruz. I saw some folks going for an early morning dip. I was bundled up. I was made for temperate climes. I am not a snow person for sure. Stay warm.

Having not gone too crazy on Christmas Eve, I woke up bright and early on Christmas Day, and after breakfast, went for a stroll on the empty beach :)

Great Christmas Day pics, Jack. Sorry your beach walk didn’t work out, but hopefully it was a good day nonetheless. 🎄

You know it. ;)

Somewhere I have a photo of me as a kid, all bundled up, playing in the snow at our house in Little Rock (before we moved to NWArk when I was 8). Probably one of only a couple times it snowed when I lived there, and there was little enough of it that you could still see the grass poking through the top of the snow. 😁

I took the girls to see an early movie today. It was pretty dang cold when we left this morning, but by the time we left the theater it had warmed up to near 0°F, and with the sun shining, it was actually kinda nice out (as long as you didn’t have to stay out in it for too long). 😉😁

We grabbed some lunch (the girls opted for Chinese) and ran a couple quick errands before heading back to the house. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take any knife pics while we were out and about, so this censored-for-non-Lambsfoot-content pic of the knives I had with me today will have to do.

Cassie and I just got back from braving the cold again. Wind chill was brutal. They have a windchill adversary for -35-40° for overnight

Didn't stop me from getting the bonus pic of the day 👍

That's some outstanding ebony!

All this talk about the cold...although I grew up in upstate NY and thought nothing of winter weather, I have been in Kommiefornia too long and couldn't take it any more. Our morning lows for the next few days will be in the high 40s.

While I'd seen the Papagayo beaches from afar, I had decided to reserve walking to them for Christmas Day, so after an early lunch, I set off. After my hotel there was just the 3 Papagayo beaches, and a very large area of wilderness. By going onto the roof of the hotel, I had already noted a series of rough paths, though another guest had told me she found them so confusing she had turned back. I had water, my hat, and a couple of energy bars, and wasn't too concerned.

Unfortunately, as I neared the first beach, the only one which is accessible to vehicles, and then by a circuitous dirt track, I could see that I wasn't the only one who had thought about going to the beach that day!

The other two beaches are much further to get to, but they are accessible to boats of course, and they too were busier than I had expected.

So, I decided not to bother, and returned a similar way to the way I'd come, arriving back at the hotel only an hour or so after leaving

I had a quiet afternoon, finishing off my book, and enjoying the view from my balcony :)
